My time in ESO - Personal experiences

Day 1,649, 13:39 Published in United Kingdom USA by Proponent
My Beginning:

It was a mere eighteen days ago that I started in eRepublik and it amazes me looking back how things change here so quickly, not just in ESO but in the eUK. One second things can be going great and take a sharp turn for the worst and vice versa whether it be military or politics, everything can change within a mere few days.

One of the first things I did was join a military unit because I saw myself taking the military route, I didn't really have any interest at all in joining a political party because politics are not my strong point and if they are then it is not an area I normally enjoy. I also didn't plan on having anything to do with articles either, its amusing on how things have turned out here.

Why I chose ESO:

There were a few reasons for me choosing ESO over any other party, one was that I saw what ESO does on my military unit feed every so often and none of their competitions or help in general ever mentioned a strength requirement or eRep age requirement.

The second, and probably largest, reason for me joining ESO was because of the chat. It's a public IRC channel (#ESO on the rizon server) so I was able to join in their chats and learn what ESO was all about and it has to be the most active chat I have been in considering that almost all of the players there are in the UK timezone, the chat is pretty much active all the way from 8-9 AM to 12-1AM or later most days/nights.

My final reason for joining ESO was what it stood for, Every Single One, I did do some homework before joining and this sums up what I found pretty nicely.
“ESO will remain a party which is above the mundane politics which have plagued our country, whilst being below the members from which every party attains their true power. ESO will remain a party dedicated to the interests and progression of its members, not itself.”

I have said this time and time again but ESO really does everything it can to give all of its members the same chance that any other member gets, it all depends on what you are willing to put in, you'll never be forced into anything you don't want to do but you will always have the encouragement from the ESO party.

My past days in ESO:

I joined ESO a few days after I joined the game, I made sure to wait long enough that I had some idea of what I would be getting into. I spent my first few days in ESO being fairly quiet, largely because I needed to learn what was going on however one of the ESO members gave me a condensed version of eUK history and redirected me to a thread that gave an outline of ESO's history. There is also a long version on the eRepublik wiki that can be looked into however when your new to the game it can be hard to understand.

The Party President elections came up a few days after I had joined and I was still learning about the party as a whole and what each member contributes to make the party live up to its name. Shortly after the elections I began making more of a contribution in the chat when I could, I also remember being apart of several competitions ran by ESO that helped me along quite a bit with my personal growth. A day or two after the elections Lily (Our current Party President) asked me to help out our recruitment officer, Sir SouthStreet, which I did and then it led to me being asked to write an ESO recruitment article.

Writing my first ever article for ESO was odd really, I've only ever written two or three article-like papers in my life and the one thing I didn't want to do was let the party down so I began writing the recruitment article which then led to me publishing quite a number of articles over the past week or so. My point is that if it is something you want to do, you will have the opportunity to do it.

My current days in ESO:

To date I have helped with recruiting and am now the donations officer for the party after the past donations officer, BoerCharel, stepped down, I'm surprised things have moved so quickly in all my time here but that is what ESO offers, a chance to be all that you can be. I can honestly say that if I had joined any other party then I believe that I would be missing out on everything ESO offers myself and all of its members, the opportunity to do what you enjoy doing.
