My Thoughts on History

Day 5,800, 02:02 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Mr Immanuel Kant

Introduction
The People have spoken! Sadly it was inconclusive so the guy who spent the most won (sounds like vote buying to me). I have been very good at trying to limit the jokes and I know some can miss the humour but If you would like a shortened version of my speech.

When I put myself forward as a candidate I knew it would be a near impossible challenge. However I stood this month because I had a plan and a vision for the UK. I wanted to bring people together and unite the UK under a positive environment and positive policies. I believed we could be better and do something different to grow and support our community. No more petty squabbles or negativity.

However the lingering reality has always been - If the long standing Party Presidents agreed a candidate then there was little hope I or anyone could win. This is a sad reality of the game. UKRP/TUP/WRP dominate the game when they work together they have not been able to be stopped for years. Even if these parties selected a weak candidate they would always win.

Then during the campaign this materialised and the PP’s banded together to support Wingfield. The death sentence for any campaign. The situation worsened when PCP the final undeclared party decided to support Wingfield. The scene was set for the most embarrassing election defeat in years. Premature jokes were made across discord and PM’s.

Historic Result
However, The reality was historic. Nothing anyone including I could have thought about. Out of the top 5 parties 4 of them backed my opponent. And yet, through the course of the campaign for several reasons many people came out and supported me and my ideas. This is genuinely a historic result because of the closeness and because of the moral victory. We are the moral majority, even if our majority happens to be exactly the same in number as my opponents. On the face of it the combined strength of four parties could not even defeat TRS, except to boil this down to party politics would sell the reality short.

Due to the mechanics of the game Wingfield was declared victor, which is a shame because I had ticketed the admins to keep running the election until George won.

Thank you
Now this result is not my result but our result. Now I might be getting sentimental over a browser game in an election I didn’t win, but I stand by it. There are some big thanks.

Firstly, I have to thank the only party which supported me. To TRS, a massive thank you. But not just the party structure but as individuals. Everyone in TRS who has checked in with me commented, liked endorsed, shouted. This is really did all help. You’re not just a bunch of [redacted] on the internet but you are friends on this game, on other games and some of you even in the real world.

Secondly, my Cabinet. Made up from members across the eUK. I was proud with our full cabinet. Thank you to everyone who agreed to serve. I am just sorry we were not able to put into action our plans both those we publicised and others we considering. You were all fab.

Finally, every single one (ESO) and there are more of you than I thought, who voted for me all of you lovely people who cast your vote for me. I know from private messages and discord chats that I received real cross party support. With members from TRS, TUP, UKRP, WRP,PCP and Goats backing me.

To everyone who reached out to say you were backing me privately thank you. I understand why many of you wish to remain anonymous and that’s fine. Nobody knows who you vote for so you have to vote for who you honestly believe will make positive change.

What Can We Learn?
1. This game can still shock you.
2. Every Vote really does and can matter.
3. Positivity will win out.
4. People will make their own decission (We’re all individuals).
5. The game mechanic’s are always fun if you surround your self with fun people.

What's next?
Well for me I did my best, I hope I did you proud. I hope as one half of the unity candidates I offered positivity and olive branches. To those who refused to work together because there was an election on (and your side had to win at all costs). There’s no election on now. I’m still interested in building bridges.

However this is my Semi-retirement. I have made the decision not to serve in this current government the more I reflect that is for three main reasons.

1. The Cabinet:
I know its like all IKEA cabinets its long overdue and all the pieces aren’t there yet. However I still hold my reservations regarding a certain member who was sacked by Huey George who has now returned. Having had a helpful chat with him, I hold my reservation that being the new Vice Country President gives him too much influence to do what he did last time. I don’t object so much to his inclusion in cabinet but to the position he’s in. I think a more sensible approach would be for him to enter at a lower level. Prove me wrong, do better.

2. The Principle:
I honestly feel that some didn’t want what was best for the eUK they just didn’t want me (or anyone in my party doing it). And they banded to support anyone who agreed to stand, this was tribal politics not unity politics. There was no coalition politics just an effort to exclude an entire party. That’s honestly how it feels. I don’t believe anyone could truly read the manifestos ( Wingfiled and MIK’s ) and come to the conclusion Wingfield was the better candidate. Not to mention he had no cabinet and his lack of activity. I also thought it was a poor show when Wingfield accused my manifesto policies as vote buying (manifesto policies many in his cabinet want to steal and implement).

The sad reality is I feel some would rather have someone less active, less qualified and with less vision in the role just because they share the same political badge. As long as the CP wasn’t me or my party many are happy. So I will not serve under someone who was convinced to stand out of spite not for the good of the UK with positive ideas.

3. TRS
Finally I will not serve in Wingfield’s cabinet because this is all a game. Yes its a game we want to do well at, yes its a game where we care about the mechanics. But more than that its a game, nothing more than a way to kill some time from our boring mundane lives. And so I want to spend my time doing what I find fun and there is no greater enjoyment for me than hanging out with people who want to have a laugh. In game or on (Discord) please join our discord server its well worth it.

The one thing that has kept me in this low quality game for far too many years is the people. I don’t know why I would spend my leisure time doing something I don’t find fun. So for now, I’m going to be more active with my friends and building and cultivating our community. TRS is honestly the warmest and longest lasting community I’ve found in this game. And so I’m happy to just spend time enjoying that for a bit. I wouldn’t trade it for the world, not even another Country President Medal.

In closing,it has been nice to have some positive comments from across the political spectrum.

Thanks for the support guys, means a lot. But in all seriousness I still can't believe we managed to attain a draw. I am astounded and still laugh at the situation. Thank you to all who voted for positive ideas. We made history.

In activity, Semi-retired but still a Bridge Builder,
