My thoughts on citizenship

eRepublik just announced they are soon bringing citizenship to the game.

What is particularly odd is the obsession about nationalism. In the first two paragraphs they get all crazy with that talk. I thought that was ill-conceived. I don't think eRepublik should be considered a place only for those with nationalistic tendencies.

Some people have raised doubts as to why you can only have one citizenship, but I think that's simple. If I wanted to move to a country to PTO them, I would apply for dual citizenship. Not only would I be able to vote at home to prevent a PTO but I could engage in a PTO in another country.

Another issue raised is how countries that are completely occupied (and technically part of another nation) would fit into all of this. The obvious answer is that whereas they are not citizens of that occupied country now, they will not be with citizenship of that occupied country, until their countries come to exist again.

Now, as a final point, considering the election freeze, which thankfully was not implemented (or at least I think so), this will put a GREAT limit to their case for that in the future, now that we will have a viable barrier against PTO's and the PTO-obsessed PTO lobby will finally learn to stop messing around with my game.
