My Retirement Speech and Endorsement of Citizen B for PP of DAL

Day 595, 11:32 Published in Canada Canada by koolmanjack

There are times when it is time to step away from the limelight and let others take their place at the driver's seat. I think now is that time for me. For those that do not know, for approximately the last month, i have been the Party President of the Democratic Action League, and have had the privilige to lead this party during this historical month.

To begin my journey as PP, in the final days leading up to my election last month, our party begin to experience almost unheard of growth. As i was replacing my predecessor Scorpius, a great leader and mentor in his own right, i suddenly found myself a leader of the third largest party in eCanada after defeating Derek Harland, who is now my VP, and Emilio Sanchez.

We were and are a young party full of eager newbies trying to find a place and voice to express ourselves in this country and was now i charge of leading them to great glories in the electoral field. My first challenge was to try to organize our new recruits and so i implemented a committee system to help organize tasks the party needed to accomplish in the coming days and months. It is still in its infancy but shows great promise. I also had to scramble to find candidates to run in the congressionals, and organization was hectic to say the less. Somehow we managed to run the majority of people as planned, although a bug wouldnt allow be to switch candidates which caused some problems for our party. Despite that, we help to elect 7 DAL members and 1 Green and 1 APC candidate, which showed eCanada we were a power not to be ignored. Derek Harland aalso won the most ever votes for one candidate, which was impressive, but also showed that our distribution of voters was not quite up to par with the more established parties.

My next challenge is by far the most controverial. It was deciding who the party was going to support for the Presidentials. The first candidate proposed was Derek Harland, who looked promising until it was revealed he would be away in mid July, which quickly ruined those plans. Votes were held to see if the party would support Jacobi or our candidate, not once but twice. Both times a clear majority voted yes for our own candidate. This lead to Adasko pledgeing to run, going so far as to write a platform and cabinet selections. But before the party could decide on this, news that the CSD were leaning towards Jacobi had Adasko pack up hes bags and fly off to the CSD to try to further his ambitions elsewhere.

So now we had a party that wanted something i couldnt deliver. At first i thought with only a couple days to go, i would just ask people to support Jacobi, since there seemed to be fear of spliting the vote otherwise and the CEP winning, fears that in fact turned out to be false. Regardless, I actuallly posted on our forums to support Jacobi, when i remembered Andrew Mendelson asking for our support. At first, i shruged it off as a pipe dream, but as the dealine loomed, i made a decision that will go down as one of the most strnge ever: I decided to support him. I contacted him, saying i would support him if he would give us better representation in his cabinet and if a few changes to his platfrom were made. While to be honest i was not 100% in love with his platform, it seemed the closest i could find to something that our party would have wriiten if we had proposed a candidate. I will state as well at had Jacobi given us another cabinet position that i would not have done what i did, but he replied that he simply couldnt do so. Considering the size of our party and our loyal support in the past, i do not think my demands were unreasonable, but perhaps they were.

So we supported Andrew, and the rest is history. My party was upset that i did not consult with them, and perhaps rightly so. What i did was probably crazy and irresponsible, but even so, i think our party is better for it, and so as we approach the next PP elections, i think my party will be better if i ride into the background for wahile and allow someone else to take centre stage. I would have continued the role if no other candidates that were qualified stepped up but then Citizen B stated his interest and i knew that i could walk away peacefully.

To talk about Citizen B and what he has done for our party, he has almost singlehandly revolutionized recruitment in this game, through a combination of having a party whose ideals appeal to a new generation and a wrok ethic to spread this message throughout the land. He was an early recruit during the "dead days", the time between Dominik's reign and the rise in membership. It was through the DAL charity that still operates today that we brought him into the party and the small cost it took to help him out has been repaid multiple times. Without his hard work and dedication, it would be hard to imagine our party being where it is today. He is throughly organized, and works at a manic pace that few humans can probably match. I see know reason why he cannot succeed in the future as both PP of DAL and as the immigration minister in Jacobi's administration. I hope he wins in the next PP election and i give him my full support. I wish him the best of luck as PP.

Finally, i would like to thank all the members of my party for their hard work and support over this last month, without you i could not have done what i did. I hope DAL's message continues to spread and that we as a party can continue to grow and prosper. As well, to all those members of other parties that i have talked with and have worked with, thank you as well. I am not disappearing entirely, but i just want to have my season in the sun.

Sincerely,
Koolmanjack, DAL President and Congressman
