My Platform For President

Day 647, 22:05 Published in Canada Canada by koolmanjack

This was first posted on the DAL forums and is my basic ideas for what i beleive this country needs. There is an election for the DAL nomination for President between me and Derek Harland on the forums tomorrow that goes for 2 days. I will not go on about how great my own accomplishments are atm anyways, these are just my ideas. Any ideas about a cabinet depend on winning the support of DAL.

Military Reform:
We need a new, more organized military that will be both an effective fighting force in terms of strike capability, ease of supply, and flexibility. The regular CAF would consist of a general, who would directly supply and inform 4 commanding officers, who would each supply and inform 5 subordinate officers, who each would in turn supply and inform 5 regulars. In order for this system to work, orders need to be given in advance when possible and officers especially need to be active. Officers would be required daily to meet roll calls or signal in advance whenever they would be unable to fulfill their duties or else risk demotion and punishment. This would mean that there would be 25 people in charge of supplying the army, all which would be investigated to ensure they are trustworthy and would be required to have served and prove they could handle the responsibility. To ease supplying, all supplying officers would carry a supply of weapons or have access to an org that would store weapons in order to be able to strike quickly even if the supply chain was damaged at a particular time. In total the regular forces would consist of 125 fighting men and woman. In terms organizing soldiers, each platoon would have different fighting strengths for each soldier, so lower level soldiers would be in the same platoon as some higher level soldiers. Most officers would be tanks as well, assuming tanks would have much better military knowledge than lower levels, but not necessarily. Funding would depend on government resources and need, in terms of total funding and how many weapons to each soldier. Tanking would only be done when considered necessary to victory, with more of a focus on total army fighting, with increasing funding for higher ranks, just not as wide a funding gap.
There would also be the establishment of the reserves that would include all active citizens of eCanada, after being a citizen for 2 weeks you would be automatically accepted. Training would be required and the reserves would be a required stepping stone to enter the regular forces. The reserves would not be funded unless commanders thought it necessary and only when fighting on home soil but could be given moving tickets to fight in foreign battles or when the regular forces needed additional firepower. There would be groups of 25-50 like in the regular forces, with orders being delivered either by the general, next top ranking officer, or a regular in the CAF appointed to lead a particular group.
Public orders would be handled by a special communication branch of the military posted ingame and on forms, while chain of commander orders for the CAF would be private messages made ingame, either by person themselves or my communication branch on their behalf.
An elite force would not be created or used as such initially, as a strong military is more than the sum of a few super soldiers. Such soldiers initially will operate purely within the larger military structure.

Economics:
My economic strategy is fairly simple, high import taxes on all natural resources we have and on manufacturing and housing, all income taxes set to 5%-10% and VAT keep the same. Government lottery would be set up to increase revenue. Government goals on economy would be to build up gold stockpile, cut minimum wage to 1.25, then maybe 1 CAD, and to bring the value of CAD to around 30-33 CAD for 1 gold. Military budget would be set based on revenues, be determined at beginning of month and military would have to have congress vote on any extension of funding beyond that. My finance minister would be required to produce a budget on the 12th of each month, with the final vote by congress to be made on the 15th. Government industries would be forced to run on a profit or be sold off, or be shut down until they could be of better use.

**Edit: A greater focus on developing our manufacturing capabilities, so that we can take better advantage of the many high resource regions we can produce our own food, weapons, houses and so on, even if we lose certain high resource regions. Plus a diversified economy is a more stable one, able to better deal with shifts in wages and prices.

Healthcare:
Another hospital would be considered but not deemed necessary so long as Alberta has a hospital. Government gift program to ensure lower level players have at least 40 wellness by providing gifts at cost might be reinstated, if cost neutral. A wellness awareness campaign would be established, using public announcements, mass messaging, and perhaps even mentioning it in the new citizen message to get people to learn the importance of high wellness, especially new players.

Social programs:
A minister of education would be appointed to establish some type of training institution, where basics in business, history, politics, and warfare could be learned. A minister of social services would be established, who would lead the creation of a mentorship program for eCanada, where new players would apply to get one on one help from mentors to answer any questions or concerns new citizens might have. There would also be mass messaging of timbits of info and frequent postings of tips for new players to get involved. The social services department would also provide links for all political parties and how to apply for the military, which would be open to all (reserves). It would be active on both forums and ingame, so as to capture as many players as possible.

Foreign Affairs: Leave resistance to RW's, have the CAF work with resistance forces when possible to better coordinate attacks. Actively pursue talks with non PEACE and lightly affliciated members of PEACE to build better relationships and bonds for the future. We need to continue to work on ensuring we have more active ambassadors to be able to do this. Let there be no doubt the PEACE is to be fought no matter what and no peace will be considered until ALL of Canada's regions are back under our control.
