My Departure

My stay in eCanada had been an enjoyable one, up until the events which took place as a result of Jacobi's article. When it comes the point where one no longer enjoys participating in the community of a country, it's a clear sign that you need a break maybe not from eRepublik, but just from your home country.
I write to you today to announce my indefinite departure from eCanada. I've had a great time, but that ever lasting enjoyable experience is now a fantasy to me.
I will be leaving, and that is the decision I have come to. Many of you will not agree with it, but I am not gone forever - I will live in another ecountry, and maybe some day, when I see it fit, I will return.
The Forums and IRC will stay in the hands of good people. Kronos_Q will take over as acting IRC Root Admin, while Jfstpierre, in GoranThrax's absence, will take over as Root Admin of the Forums.
I will still be open to talking, and every now and then, join the many eCanadian IRC Channels, and I will hopefully remain Canada's Silent Guardian but I will no longer remain a citizen of eCanada.

When certain people don't understand that there are no in game rules broken when donations happen, it's clear that too few people have too much power in this "country".

This is what happens when Canadians turn on themselves for the sake of 5 minutes of political fame and its pathetic.
The whole thing could have been handled with far more tact and skill instead of personal character assassination.
Canada is weaker because of this and will become weaker still because of morons with mega-egos to fill that see fit to drag every issue through the mud.
We have been heading down a slippery slope recently and it needs to stop and some people need to grow up and see the damage its doing.
I would urge 1ronman to stay but understand his reasoning.

1ronman wasn't the first and wont be the last as long as things continue the way they are. Some serious damage started leaving several months ago due to all the foolishness going on.
4 FM's and a general (soon to be FM) that I personally know have already left. And there are more.

So the general rule of thumb is,
Let people do what they want to, when they want to, then give them all you can and when someone raises an eyebrow at all that happening, the person leaves because they may not get it all their own way from now on......and people say 'oh noes, don't go!!!'

I don't agree in what might of happened in the past but its not all one persons fault and it need not have been handled in such an unskillful way.
There are right and wrong ways of going about things and raping a bloke because he's been put into a position of being a tank, forum admin, etc, is only making a bad situation worse.

As long as there is clear dividing lines there will be trouble and to be honest eCanada has reached the crossroads of taking certain things, the 'elite' aren't even old guard, its the people of my era that seem to think they are 'above' things.
