MUPP - Fed up with irl politics taking away your fun?

There is a swedish abbreviation called MUPP which deserves international recognition. It stands for "Motståndare, upprorsmakare och partipolitiker" which can best be described as follow:

The term MUPP is used for categorizing all those players who harass others by dragging them into their own, perverted and IRL-based ideologies. Since there are those of us who actually play the game while some others mainly focus on destroying the fun in playing the game for those who actually bother playing it, this phrase has been used as a counter-weapon in situations where you - as a player - feel boxed into a corner of a debate where your opinions are no longer respected but rather mocked and made fun of.

For example, being a pacifist IRL doesn't necessarily mean that you have to be against wars in the game. Just because you don't like eSweden, it doesn't mean that you have to hate Swedes IRL.

While the vast majority of players are aware of this, there's still a quite loud and vocal minority who are constantly trying to transfer IRL terms into The New World. This often leads to misunderstandings and not seldom harassment from both sides of the discussion. In the end all it leads to is that more players lose interest in the game (since, afterall, not all players are interested in getting their citizen accounts mixed up with their IRL person or getting dragged into a neverending flame war between embittered, immature parties).

So what exactly does MUPP do?

What the MUPP word says is basically that everyone who's not interested in playing the game and sharing the fun with the other players SOD OFF. It gives you a word to use for countering any attempt of discrediting your eRep citizen by use of irrelevant IRL terminology. Simply call them mupps', and the discussion can either end with that or you'll at least send a clear message towards your harasser to stop poking you and that you really don't give a flying poop about what he/she is saying.

Spread the word!
