Note: This is NOT about the current presidential election. This is about how easy it is for unworthy candidates to enter our Knesset and how to prevent it.

eRepublik uses a modified presidential election system for congressional elections. Instead of the top candidate becoming the president, the top 30 or so become congress members. There is a danger to this, especially if some of the candidates are very popular. Let’s take our July Knesset election as an example:

Zaib Atsu, the top candidate, has 22 votes, but still, only one seat, while Tom Kafir has 2 votes and also one seat. They are both great citizens. The point I want to make is: By voting for famous citizens and avoiding other loyal citizens, the threshold to enter the Knesset is now only 2 votes. 2 votes! That makes it very easy for multis, PTO’ers, inci’s, etc to earn a seat. All they have to do is use multiple accounts, invite a few friends over and boom, they have a seat.

A candidate can have more votes than all the others combined and still have only one seat. If we are voting for CP, that would be fine, as the top candidate is most likely a loyal, dedicated friend of Israel, but this mentality of voting for the most famous can have dire consequences not just in the Knesset, but in other nations too.

Consider this recent article from a UK newspaper: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/removing-the-arab-word-from-erepublik-1835737/1/20

The article stated that almost all of the Arab states in this game are “failed” states. Why? Because they have been taken over from foreign citizens.

We need to make sure that ALL the members of the Knesset, not just the top 50% or so, are loyal and dedicated to help Israel. My solution to achieve this is to use another medium (the fourms, MU’s, etc) where we can pre-decide who’s voting for who so we can spread the votes out and increase the threshold needed for a congress seat so PTO’ers and others who want to harm Israel is kept out. Our current way of voting is simply guaranteeing the top 1% well-known and respected citizens while ignoring loyal, low-profile eIsraelis.

In conclusion, Zaib Atsu and other top candidates, are great people and should be in the Knesset, but let’s not waste 20+ votes on them. Those 20 votes can be given to other loyal friends of Israel so they can enter Knesset instead of Mr. PTO.

Extreme example:

* All Nations listed here are in the “e” format unless otherwise stated. Example: Brazil = eBrazil, USA = eUSA…

Voting Guide and Tips

1) Do not vote for anyone you don’t know.
2) Presentations can be flawed. It’s best to have a deeper understanding of the person.
- Did that person help you in the past?
- Did you see that person fight for Israel in battles?
- Is that person active on the forums or IRC?
- What does his newspaper reflect of him?
- How long is he/she a citizen of Israel?
3) If you don’t know who to vote for, save your vote! There might be a worthy candidate later that needs your vote.

We miss you and love you, Zaib Atsu!
