MJ Storm for Congress! Washington D.C. here I come!

Washington D.C., Home of Democracy, My Hope For Congress

Washington DC, the land that democracy created. It is the place that I put forth my bid for the congressional seat. It's a place that few really talk about but deserves some attention and as someone who is interested in regional and national politics, I think I can bring attention to this area. Especially after my article that I think caught the attention of some of the names out there, I think I'm the right guy to be representing this place. Below, I'm going to outline my platform

Economics

I know the economy fluctuates throughout time so me saying that I've got the solution to solve the economic problems in the eUSA would be ludicrous at best. However, I think there is hope of finding some economic stability for this great nation of ours and as the representative of the District of Columbia, I'd do everything within my power to work with my fellow members of Congress to come up with a suitable plan for US economic stablity in the future. I know that War gets the big attention grabber for economic boosts but do we really want to be at war all the time to keep our money up? Will that really protect our nation heading into the future? I also tend to agree with the article written by fellow politico and former presidential candidate, PigInZen. Some of the ideas in there, including import taxes could be helpful to our great nation.

Militiary and War

I support the eUSA military and am all for US advances when it truly benefits us. I know war was a big pusher in the last Presidential election and will probably be a key selling point for a few other Congressional canidates in other states but I'm wondering and I think this might be a thought of other people in this country as well as this state, what are our true stances on War? Are we going to just talk trash and attack nations when we're forced to back it up? Are we going to try to expand the eUSA so that we are a larger nation in the eRepublik world? Or are we going to be back up for other nations when they want to fight with other nations? I feel, and I will push for a very clear and concise standing on what the eUSA's military plans are. Also, I think the vein of diplomacy needs to be pushed because we've alienated a lot of nations out there and even if we can't come to a peace with them, some sort of understanding might be desierable for future plans.

Education/Citizen Rentention

This is a tricky subject because well, you have to be able to hook people in to get more people involved but you can't lose the interest of people who have started and begin to feel a little bit jaded after a period of time. How do we do this? I think slowly giving people the option of returning to home states and giving them smaller hospitals so that yes, they might not be able to level up as fast but at least they might be someplace where they can connect their eLife to their RL. I know that this idea has been broached before and people reacted negitively to it but I'm not talking Q5s all over the place, I speak more to slowly installing these things in places where there could be a demand for it, D.C. might not be a prime example of it, but I think automatic shutdown doesn't do anyone any good either. I also think some of our new member programs need to be keeping an eye out for new members otherwise they don't serve their purpose. I know that as a player, I never would have known they existed had I not gone to the eUSA chatroom and met some helpful players who told me who these groups were and how to get in contact with them. Maybe I'm an exception rather than the rule but if it hadn't been for the help I got in the eUSA chat room, I might not be here to make an election bid at all. I think if you want to help out players who are new, more experienced players need to go to the eUSA chatroom and be willing to help.

Me As An ePerson

This is probably where most of the congressional candidates put all of their accolades about what they've accomplished in the eWorld but I'll openly admit, I've got nothing to put here. I don't have tons and tons of experience in something, but I do have an unbiased mindset. Yes, I am a member of the USWP, a good party I feel but that's just a personal thing. I think I hold the traits of a competant congressional candidate, even if I'm not outspoken on the message boards. I feel you should listen first and then when there is a real reason for you to have something to say, say it. Don't do something just to 'hear your own voice' or see your words in print. However, if anyone thinks that means that I won't speak up for the people of eWashington DC, you're very much mistaken. I spend a little bit of time on this game on a daily basis, checking off and on through out the day so if citizens have concerns, they'll be able to get in contact with me. I do hope that the citizens of eWashington DC will give me a chance to prove myself and I feel that you won't be let down if you do give me the opportunity.

Sincerely,

MJ Storm
