Part Three:

Given the stealth required by this mission each soldier in the squad was glad they only had to take out one terrorist each. That would make things much simpler. But "taking out" couldn't happen until they were identified, and that is why this elite force was put together.. for exactly this moment.

What General beerman616 had said about each of them having a unique gift of perception and observation was true. However, guessing the correct answer in some silly online contest was a lot different than identifying a man and taking his life based on your internal awareness. But that was the job they were here to do, so no sense in starting to second guess now. Too much was at stake.

Their mission protocol said none of the civilians at the rally should know anything was going on. How better to defuse the attention-hungry terrorists than by not letting the press or those in attendance know anything was even planned.

n4n0 was the first to spot his target. He saw him walking up a side path alone before he joined the larger crowd. At that distance he was confident with his silenced pistol, and placed one undetected bullet through the terrorist head. No one saw him fall off the path and over the side of the acropolis.

How Angel of Music recognized his man remained a mystery to him. Was it the way he was carrying himself along the sidewalk? Was there something in his eye that gave him away? There certainly were no outwardly visible indications this man was anything but a foreign tourist here to enjoy the celebration, but Angel knew without hesitation this was an assassin. He walked toward him on the sidewalk, and as he passed he plunged the knife into his heart, killing him instantly. Without breaking his stride he caught the man before he fell, and held him upright as he shuffled the body around a building where no one would see him fall.

At that same time Evry identified his objective standing in the middle of the crowd facing the stage. No officials had walked on yet, but it was only a few minutes before they would. Evry politely made his way through the crowd so as not to draw any attention, moved up close behind the terrorist, and slid the knife in from behind at exactly the spot that would most quickly drain his life. He threw his arm around the already dead terrorist and starting commenting on how much his buddy had to drink that day as he shuffled him away from the crowd. It was a perfectly executed plan and cover, no one in the crowd had an idea anything happened other than a man passed out from drinking.

Lazert111 saw his target walking along a high balcony at the edge of the courtyard. Quickly he moved into the building and found the stairwell leading up. As he closed the distance to the terrorist his boots didn't make a sound on the hard tile floor. Since the man was alone, Lazert111 expertly slit his throat before he had any idea he was there, and pulled him back into the building as he collapsed.

Sideswipe grew concerned because he had not yet identified his target and a long procession of dark suited politicians were beginning to file onto the stage. It was hard not to have doubts... perhaps he didn't belong on this special team... perhaps he didn't have what it takes to read the psychological profile of a terrorist by just looking at them... and worst of all, perhaps he was letting his team down by not being able to perform.

As these concerns were beginning to swirl around in his head he glanced down a side path and saw two men at a distance walking quickly toward the crowd. Immediately he knew the only thing wrong was that his target had been late getting to the rally. Despite the original documentation that said only 5 shooters would be in the audience, Sideswipe's instincts were keenly aware both these men were here to do the job. Probably because of the lateness of one he picked up assistance from the other. Quickly he walked out to meet them.

Fortunately by now the entire crowd was facing the stage, and a military band was playing loudly as the President walked toward to podium. No one was paying attention to the area just outside the courtyard as Sideswipe approached the two highly trained killers, and fired two silenced shots into each of their chest before they could even react. Lazert111was nearby and had spotted the pair, moving in to provide assistance if needed. The only help required was to quickly drag the second body out of sight before anyone in the crowd turned around.

As President Karolos Papoulias began his deeply felt speech about the heroes who had defended Greece throughout history, the five anonymous MI soldiers gathered at the back of the crowd to listen. Vandi entered the courtyard from a side door, caught the warrior's eyes, and signaled all clear. They knew that meant all the explosives had been removed, and the danger to innocent civilians and the spirit of democracy was past for now.

President Papoulias reached a crescendo in his speech..."But we must never rest in our battle against those who would take freedom from us! We must never tire in support of our allies who fight the same fight as we. Only working together will democracy have the bright future it promises."

As the ace team of Mobile Infantry soldiers turned and walked toward their extraction point away from the crowd, each was thinking how true the President's words rang. Each one of them was proud to be part of that global network that would fight for freedom anywhere, anytime. All it took was to hear those words from Command and they were off - On the Bounce!
