Mentoring 101 - First Message

Day 670, 22:22 Published in USA USA by Department of Citizen Affairs

Mentoring is one of the most important programs we have. It is more important than Meals On Wheels, It is more than the Flying Unicorn Squadron. Mentors help the country by ensuring that new players continue to play the game. We get them before they have a chance to form an opinion of the game and that is the time when we want them walking in with open eyes.

Whether it be a moving ticket to get to a state with a Q5 hospital or some advice on how to fight and maintain a high wellness the mentor is there for the new player. I know you know how to play the game, you are a mentor of course you know the game. There is, however, one thing I would ask that you do for me. It has to do with the first message.

When you are assigned the names of your mentees you send them a message alerting them that you have been assigned their mentor.

This message is extremely important. This message is the first impression, with it you are putting a face on the entire game. In this message you should first tell them you are their mentor. But what you should also do that I know a lot of mentors do not is tell the player a little bit about what is going on in the world. Especially right now we have World War 3 going on. And whats better to hear about then war? Especially for a new player who hasn't formed an opinion on the game yet. Tell them about how PEACE invaded us and that we were down to one single solitary region. Tell them how we fought back and got our country back. Maybe tell them about how Russia is just a pawn for the Evil, Imperialist PEACE GC. Tell them about Columbia attacking. Tell them they are needed to maintain a free society. That their help is essential in the United States autonomy. You get the idea. What we want is retention. I use this word a lot when I talk about mentors and mentees. Say it with me, Retention.

We're always talking about Baby booms, but they won't be necessary if we were to simply retain every player who signs up. We want the new player excited, we want them anxious to make it to level 5 where the real fun begins. That's something else they should know. That the game gets a lot of fun when they can fight and that they also will start to advance levels much faster. I don't mean to tell you how to be a mentor, of course you know how to play. I just wanted to ask you to do this with that first message. Everything after that is all on you. If you have any questions or problems please don't hesitate to send me a PM.
