Meet the Reform Party - Thedark Ace (01)

Day 1,948, 14:42 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Cygnus X1

“Meet the UKRP” is a series of articles I’m going to be writing this term, interviewing both old and new Reform members, finding out why they love the party and why YOU should join!

The (01) in the title indicates that this is the first article in the series, you should read 'em all! 😉

Today, it's Thedark, a very hard working and influential member of the party. Also, he's the one who recruited me to UKRP!

1: Why did you join the UK Reform Party?

I joined UK Reform last March, so I'm coming up to a year's membership 😛 I joined in a time a decline for UK Reform, the party was left inactive and was gradually slipping away from the prestige it once held. There were still some cool guys around, but it was still only a handful of people around. I joined because it was a party I supported from abroad, holding my centre-right ideals and had done a lot for the UK. I also loved that UK Reform looks to put the nation above the party, that's exactly what a party should be about, doing what's best for the country.

2: What made you stay?

I stuck around for a while because the small effect UKRP did have was a positive one, and I was somewhat inactive myself. However, by the time I did reach activity again there was lots to do within the party. That's what I really appreciated, I got stuck in and everyone else helped and encouraged where they could.

In October I decided to pick up the reigns of the Party Presidency, and that's when I did my best to turn the party right around get it running. The community that UK Reform built around itself was amazing, so many positive vibes that left you aching on the journey home to log onto your computer and see what had happened during the day. There was commitment from everyone to do all they could for the UK and the party, to make erepublik interesting and entertaining, as it should be.

For 3 months now, UK Reform has had the most active sub-community in the UK, with private being a hive of banter and intellectual talk, with a secondary passion for a nation and game we came to feel a real part of. I've enjoyed the resurgence and look forward to UK Reform going on to bigger and better things that I know we're capable of.

3: Where do you see the party in the near future?

Obviously UK Reform has seen a drive in recent months that I've thoroughly enjoyed and am glad to have been a part of, I can only hope this can continue. The ride has only just begun, and with the beautiful people in the party, I expect it to go on to bigger and better things for a long time. It's a political party, so we're obviously looking to be an even greater political force for the eUK. The amount of things that go on in the forums, on IRC, the podcast, other games and skype, we've got enough things to do for the moment but I'm sure we'll find even more 😛

4: Do you see yourself leading the party in the future?

Not in the near future, no 😉 New players need to get the chance to run the party, it's what makes it interesting. Having the same person run a party month in, month out, becomes stale and boring. UK Reform isn't that kind of party, it's all about the new and exciting. Whilst I'd love to jump at getting sit in the party seat again, I don't see myself running any time soon.

Saying that, nobody needs to hold a position to get to help the party, that's part of what I love about UK Reform. Everyone holds some of the weigh, the successes and failures of the party are one communal effort, with each member giving as much as the next. If there's anything you want to do within the party; or for the country, it's a "Go and do it, we're with you" atmosphere. It's the members that make up a party, and everyone sure doesn't forget that 😁

5: Finally, give new players a reason why they should join the UKRP 😉

Well, what can I say? I've thoroughly enjoyed UK Reform and it's certainly helped me stay in the game and become a bigger part of the UK. If you're looking for a community you can be a part of, try UK Reform. If you're looking to get more out of eRepublik, try UK Reform. If you're looking for a change of scene, try UK Reform. If you're looking for a party that wants to help the UK, try UK Reform. It's a great party full of great people, I'd recommend it to anyone.

Thanks for having me Cyg 🙂

Before I forget, there’s going to be a quiz organised by UKRP in #UKRP this Monday, be there or be a butjam!
