Meet the New Airborne XO

Lt. General vrpanch

The Airborne’s newly appointer Executive Officer, vrpanch, sat down with me to talk a bit about the future. I welcome him and enjoyed talking with him.

You have just been promoted to Airborne XO. That means you will probably be the next Airborne CO when I retire. Based on what you know now how would you evaluate the Airborne. Do you see particular strengths? Can you identify areas where we could improve?

First of all, I want to thank you and Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) for giving me this opportunity, and hope that you don’t plan on retiring for a couple of years. lol

One particular strength that I have started to see is that most of our members very loyal. Some have been with Airborne since before I started playing erepublik. Also some of those who left AB have even come back. After being in AB for ~1.5 years, I can understand why.

One area that I believe needs improvement is the number of members replying to Joint Military Orders (JMO). Right now, even with the AB Contest going on, we only have 17 Airborne members who reply to JMO. From our discussion this the result of new recruits’ not knowing they need to be replying to JMO daily. I agree that to remedy this, we need a Welcome Letter template for PCOs to use. However, If this does not improve JMO replies, we should take further action by making it a requirement in order to receive supplies.

You said that you can understand why we have such loyal members, and it seems like there is more to that, can you elaborate on that?

What I was refering to was how being in this MU made my gaming experience much better! Admins have been slowly poisoning the game and Airborne has been my reason to keep playing. I know a lot of people are unhappy with the game and sometimes it translate to our MU, but being on IRC is the real fun of this game. It lets you meet people and make new friends. Being on IRC and forums, I have been able to get medals, and get extra goodies. Obviously, not every day, but you never know. This has been my experience and I know others have had similar realizations.

Based on your answers to the first question, are there any changes in our structure or operations you would make?

“If its not broken, don’t fix it.” This is the saying that best describes how I feel about the way we operate. It has been working for a long time and I believe it is the reason why we have such loyal members. But there is a gray area in there somewhere.

Due to AB contest we have seen a rise in the number of people that have filled out the battle channel form. It does not represent all members that come on IRC to get supplies. This discrepancy might also be remedied by having a Welcome letter Template for PCO’s. However, I would really like to focus on increasing the number replies on JMO. The forums and JMO are a vital to making AB a more effective fighting machine.

Everyone is dying to know where their platoon stands in the AB Contest. Can you give us an update?

Haha, I knew you were going to ask about this, so I was prepared! The 101st division is close, 101/1st is leading by only 300 pts.

However, the 82nd division is leaning towards 82/1st with a 500 pts lead over 82/2nd. That might seem like a lot of pts, but they it really isn’t.

The only hint, I would like to give you all is that the best way to improve your score is by doing more than just fighting. 😉 You still have 3 more days left, so make the best of it.

Even though the last day of week 1 is saturday (eDay 2167), I will announce the winner of this week on sunday (eDay 216😎, due to the way I score.

5. Well I am all out of questions, Is there anything else you would like to say?

Yes, there is something I would like to say to all you aspiring officers/members of AB. Keep up your good work! Reply to JMO everyday and come talk to me on IRC, I am always looking to chat with with you! Loyalty is very important, it is something that I have learned from my time with eUS military and Airborne. I realized that having trusted allies is the most important force. Staying loyal to our friends/allies is what the eUS military and Airborne is about. Also thank you seeker1, for this opportunity, I will work hard to protect and carry forward this spirit of Airborne and eUS Military. O>
