Dear citizens,
As journalist I’ve observed carefully all political actions in Belgium. As some of you know, mistakes and errors in the government were criticized in my articles. The current politicians did not always agree with my point of view. Nevertheless, I forced them to reconsider their actions. I forced them to be critical. I forced them to act responsible, also towards the people.
Since I’ve been watching from the sideline, I’ve gathered a lot of knowledge how politics work and which decisions we must take in order to strengthen our nation. Now it’s my turn to enter the arena. I’ve resolved to hear the people’s voice and I’ll talk back to them. Because you are the soul of this little but powerful body, I call Belgium. I will communicate with you as much as I can, so you all can follow our political course. Suggestions, questions and critics will be welcome my entire mandate.
I’ll point one of my crosshairs on the abuse of power. I’ve always strived for a democratic Belgium and I’m planning to keep it that way. That will be my main objective. Another cancer in this political landscape are the “treasure hunters”. These profiteers quit their job once they are elected as Member of Congress, only to get the Medal of Congress and a treasure map. These people should be considered as criminals and therefore be punished.
I will be representing Flanders in the “Belgium for Belgians” party.
Citizens of Belgium, vote wisely. Because your vote is essential for the future of us all.
Fellow candidates, I wish you all the luck. Hopefully we’ll meet in Congress.

Good luck, but i hope it won't launch the congress campagn today, 9 days before the elections ! Our country seems to freeze during each campagn, and 9 days is a lot in a term of 30 days...
Moreover, it seems that our Ministry of National Security is currently working on a national plan for the next congress elections, in which we face a huge threat... Don't forget all to check the forum and the Belgium.Info newspaper... 😉

All the medalwhores that are known should be put on a black list.
Further, all new candidates must be screened. Though, I don't want the same situation as the PP elections where the government makes a list of the candidates they like. What we should do, is contacting every candidate if they don't publish their candidacy. Then the government should make all citizens aware who are the good and who are the bad guys. But the small list of the PP was to limited... A few good men were shut out. This mistake should not repeat itself.
The blacklist you can publish offcourse. That seems reasonable.

I do agree there is a lot of abuse. But the way the article of the government handles it, is wrong. There were more good PP candidates than the list says.
I haven't proposed myself as PP because I don't think I have enough experience. Next elections, I'll run for Congress. Hopefully I can do some work there to prevent abuse. I'll work with the other Members of Congress to build a democratic system to prevent abuses.
It's something we should work on because that article was far from ideal.
I don't only critices. I'm prepared to be constructive.

^ That was done during the last Congress elections. Medal whores were put in lowest priority as you can't really block them from proposing their candidacy. xD
A good way for a democratic Party Election is a Party Caucus. 🙂

Xgentis, I know the intentions were good. The way things were handled should be improved.
If I'm elected as Member of Congress I'll be glad to help to build a strategy to prevent this kind of abuse.
All I want is a Belgium with fair citizens.

Misanthropist, that PP thing is how almost every other country in this game deals with PTO threats and is generally very effective. There were one or two worthy candidates that the government had to lock out, but would you rather give them a chance, or loose the country to PTOers? Seriously get your priorities straight.

You're quite new here, so I'm not having a go at your idea, but people who remember Sandy will be able to tell you that we have tried this before and failed.

First I want to stress I don't have all the right answers. What I do know is that I am willing to think a strategy to prevent the abuse. As a Member of Congress I'll try to be as constructive as possible, because untill now I've been only analysing the way things are. Now I have decided to act. Not for myself but for the entire Belgian community's benefit.
Fighting medalwhores will always be a lost cause in eBelgium (because of our low population and the low amount of votes needed to get in Congress), but I still admire your enthusiasm and constructive approach - you definitly belong in Congress (;
