May 5th - Sperry & Eric Last

Day 1,612, 09:32 Published in Canada Canada by Sperry

For 40 days I have watched Canada struggle with one question: How? How can we continue, when so much has been lost? How can we fix what seems unfixable? We seem to know what ails our country - corruption, complacency, and a lack of commitment: There is little character and even less community. As a nation, Canada is struggling.

But a message of hope is spreading across Canada. The voices of "why?" are being drowned out by the voices of "why not?" Leaving are they days where "lulz" and boredom were satisfactory excuses: there has been a call for something greater. Something we can be proud of.

Canadians of all different sorts are tired of it'll-do politics and egocentric megalomania. New Canadians are stepping up to try and fill roles long-since left vacant. Old players, some quite old, are returning to the fore to give Canada one more try. These players deserve a country they can be proud of. They deserve a country worth fighting for.

On May 5th, I will be seeking your vote to become the next President of Canada.

Our leadership is struggling. While April started off as a surprisingly optimistic month, several slips in the first week have returned many Canadians to the malaise they felt going into the election. This is unacceptable. We deserve a political community built around commitment and integrity, one where leaders care about the finite resources they have at their fingertips and are willing to work with Canadians to take the corruption and indecency out of our society.

Canadians know what it is to rally around a banner. They know what it means to be proud, and to be a country our allies can be proud of. They understand that honesty and good faith means more than changing "vote buying" to "rewarding activity," and that conflict should not overtake discussion in our push for a better game. We need a clear leadership with an absolute position on respect and enthusiasm. We need an atmosphere that encourages new players and brings them into our world, rather than one that chokes them out of it. We need to foster what is great about eCanada, and cast aside what is not. This is a place worth fighting for.

Soldier and Politician Eric Last has agreed to join me on the ticket as Vice President.

Eric is an ideal player. He brings commitment to integrity and gameplay - balancing the need for fun with a steadfast dedication to honesty and respectable politics. There's no "backroom" with Eric - what you see is what you get, and what I see is a man bursting with knowledge and a thirst for this game, and for this country.

Eric is committed to the vision of a proud nation. He brings the political experience of several terms in Congress and Cabinet, and is a longtime member of the MDP. He has fought for Canada with the TCO and racked up more military medals than I have in total. This is a man who knows what he is doing.

We have just over 2 weeks to lay out our vision for Canada: to present voters with a real political campaign with detailed platforms and open communication. Canadians are speaking, and they are growing louder. I hope that the whispers of today grow loud and clear by May 5th. I hope to earn your support and your respect. And ultimately, if I have truly earned it, I would ask for your vote.

May 5th: Sperry for CP, Eric Last for VP.
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
