Max, This Time You're Wrong: A Message on the AAP Revolutionary Manifesto

Day 844, 13:01 Published in USA USA by WmQ374

Max McFarland 2,

While I do not know you and I have not spent time talking to you in game or on IRC, I have consistently respected the actions you have taken to build up this country and I respect the example you have created for our newest and oldest players. To put it simply, we need more citizens like you who are willing to put their time, energy, and resources into building up this country.

I recently read your AAP Revolutionary Manifesto and while you have accomplished many great things in the past, this time you are wrong.

1) The plans in this manifesto would destroy the hard work of every past member of the AAP leadership and general body.
In the manifesto you say, “I plan to burn this party to the ground and rebuild it for the good of the nation.” While I know that you have good intentions in mind for engaging in this “creative destruction” this course will destroy the hard work and labor of all past AAP Party President’s and the current work of all active members of the AAP. While the article states that the forums and all other party infrastructure will remain in the ownership of the AAP, there will be little the party can constructively do with these resources. The most important part of the party infrastructure is the in game party; leaving the rest to former AAP members is worth nothing. It is a sad day when the past work eAmerican citizens has to be all in vain.

2) While it’s geared toward helping 6th parties, I am not aware of Max contacting any 6th party PP’s including me.
The manifesto never alludes to the current work of the 6th party presidents, under the leadership of Civil Anarchy. We are attempting to establish a Small Party Union with the goal of promoting activity among 6th party membership and increasing our representation in Congress. I do not know of anyone who was asked about the plans laid out in the manifesto and whether the 6th parties agree.

3) The manifesto ignores the fact that 6th parties DO have representation in Congress.
The manifesto states, “Let's give all the active small parties a voice in government. Let's run a true populist uprising to put the people in government.” On the contrary, the United Independents Party has two of its own members in Congress, Illithian and Robert Loggia. The Socialist Freedom Party has three members currently in Congress. Ssomo of the Non Partisan League is also a current member of Congress. While I personally would love to see more 6th party members in Congress, it is wrong to say that we do not currently have a voice.

4) The manifesto ignores the fact that small party representation is not limited by our access to seats but instead it is limited by our access to votes.
The sixth parties are not limited by their access to Congressional seats; the United Independents Party ran Robert Loggia under the Libertarian Party and Illithian under the America’s Advancement Party. Kyle321n of the Federalist Party recently told me that the Feds would be more than happy to run any of our candidates. Cromstar of the DemReps has consistently been welcoming of our players.

As is mentioned in the article, we recently held an election in which we covered every single seat with a blocker. It’s important to note how difficult accomplishing this feat proved to be. Given how difficult it was to find the necessary citizens to fill these seats, and the willingness of the top 5 to currently run 6th party candidates, our problem is not that 6th party members are limited in our access to seats, it is that we are limited in our access to votes!

The manifesto states, “No mobile voters. Candidates are responsible for their own election.” This plan for the AAP will not change any of the underlying dynamics which 6th party presidents face in electing their members to Congress. We simply do not have enough votes to elect the large slates which some of the top 5 manage to achieve on the 25th. We can open up our elections all we want but they still won’t have the votes they need to successfully get elected. While some will say that it is possible to be elected without Mobile Voters, this is only possible in a small number of states. Most candidates require more votes than they can garner than by just soliciting the help of their friends.

5) The manifesto assumes that our problems with retention are related to how the top 5 treat the small parties.
The manifesto states that, “In the current climate, the accept practice is for the big parties to take over and wreck the small parties they do not respect. They do not attempt to mentor them, to help them, to develop them. They ruin them. This is ridiculous. Why does our retention suck? Why do people leave? Because we chase them away.” As I already stated, the top 5 actually do the exact opposite of what is stated here. They are often more than helpful with assisting 6th parties and helping them grow. They in fact help with retention because they assist in assuring small party representation in Congress.

In addition, this assumes that our problems with retention are related to how small parties are treated in eUS politics. Even if it was true that we were mistreated, a majority of citizens join the top 5 and can easily gain a substantial voice over what happens.

Closing Remarks
Max, I hope you will reconsider your plans for the America’s Advancement Party. I hope you heed what I have said, that the manifesto misinterprets the real problems the eUS and small parties truly face. We do not need more slots to run under, we need more votes; it is that simple. If you will help us fix this problematic dynamic I will be your biggest supporter but I cannot support the ideas laid out in this manifesto. The current plan to engage in “creative destruction” of the AAP is misplaced in its intentions and dangerous in its consequences.

Sincerely,
Tepwnzor
UIP Party President
