Inspired by my friend`s dRobi1990 success with his articles about Croatia , I`ve decided to present you today my small county and also region in eRepublik : Maramures , Romania .

Maramures is the heartland of Europe (the geographical center of Europe is located in Maramures , ROMANIA , at 10 kms. from the city Sighetu Marmatiei). Maramures is a land of wooden churches, mythological richness, impressive landscapes and very ancient customs. It has carefully preserved the culture, traditions, and lifestyle of a medieval peasant past.

I will not bore you with historical and geographical stories about my county (such as Bogdan of Cuhea from Maramures, the public and military foundation of the principality of Moldova in the middle of the 14th century or the outlaw Pintea “the Brave”- our Robin Hood), I will just give you 5 reasons to visit Maramures and one contact adress if you decide to do that : ME

1. The 8 UNESCO World Heritage wooden churches : Bârsana, Budeşti, Deseşti, Ieud, Plopiş, Poienile Izei, Rogoz and Surdeşti , some of the most interesting religious constructions in the world .

4. The Traditional Crafts : almost each village of Maramures is in itself a living museum : unique wooden sculpture , traditional costumes , Traditional Jewelry , The Wooden Gates :

The traditional cuisine - A plate of “tocană” (ground maize boiled in milk) with sheep cheese, cream and fried bacon scraps, a helping of rolls of soured cabbage stuffed with minced pork and coarsely ground maize, a slice of homemade bread baked in the hearth, a glass of “horincă” (plum brandy), and as last course: a crinkled pie or a pound caked with nuts
