Lottery Draw and Reminders
The Irish Community
As always a couple of announcements before the draw (and as usual I request you vote up, shout out and subscribe, particularly if you have newbies on your friends group).
1) Today is the last day to get your eIrish Community Award nominations in to 😎
ayan. You'll find details here: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/a-lot-going-on-at-the-moc-1-1089672/1/20
2) The 5G for being nice article competition closes on Boxing day, with just four entrants so far. You can get more details here: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/a-lot-going-on-at-the-moc-1-1089672/1/20
3) Our latest newbie house draw, for those level 14 or below, is now taking place. There are two Q1 houses up for grabs and all you need do, if you are level 14 or below, is PM my org Donut Stores and say you'd like to opt in to the draw.
Prizes are thanks to biffo and Memphis!
Our Lottery Winner!
This week's lottery took a decent 70IEP, which means this week's prize fund (75% of that) 52.50IEP
Following the publication of this article next week's draw will be open, and you can start sending in your 5IEPs (or multiples thereof) to buy your tickets for the draw that will occur next Saturday, around the same time. Please note that after debate raised following a prior draw each participant is limited to 25IEP/5 tickets in future.
So without further ado, the draw! (thanks to: http://www.random.org/)
And the lucky number is.... 25!
Which no-one chose. However two people chose 24! In the event of no-one choosing the actual number half of the jackpot is rolled over to the next week, which in this case is 26.25 IEP. The remainder is split evenly between those who have the closest numbers, in this case Pip Kelly and yddub emwolb, who will get 13.125 IEP each.
Sending it over to you now, lads.
Next week's jackpot starts at a guarenteed 26.25IEP. As it's Christmas, and the draw takes place between Christmas and new year, I will add 50IEP of my own to that to make it 76.25IEP!!!
Of the rest no IEP will be retained by this account, which of it's own funds now has 500IEP and is therefore at it's cap. The remaining 17.5IEP will be sent to the Irish State Community Fund (http://www.erepublik.com/en/organization/1908995).
And now I delete all the lottery related PMs for this week from the org, so they don't get mixed up with next week's.
With love,
einberliner

Boxing Day?
It's St.Stephens Day in Ireland 😉
Thanks for the lotto win 🙂
I'm sending over 10 gold to add to the Christmas Draw 😉
@Pip I call it everything lol. I live in the UK, so I use 'boxing' most often, but in our house it's St. Stephen's. Lol. I think in the US it's just 'December 26th', not even a public holiday so far as I know.
And as for the ten gold... that's incredible, Pip, thank you so much.
No bother Merry Christmas
Aye, ein. It's not a holiday in Canada either.
Canada has so few holidays when compared to Trinidad who celebrates a good 15-16 holidays a year. And that's not counting one-time holidays, like celebrating qualifying for the FIFA World Cup and other things the Prime Minister or President feel are worth one.
Besides going from the visible minority (only 1% are not Indian or African descended) to being the visible majority, that was probably one of the weirdest changes when I left.
@Harrilal - In UK there are I think eight bank holidays (public holidays) a year. New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday (Easter Sunday, being Sunday, is assumed as a day off anyway), May Day (first Monday in May), Spring Day (Last Monday in May), Summer Bank Holiday (last Monday in August), Christmas Day and Boxing Day. If Christmas or Boxing Day hit the weekend they give the Monday (or Monday and Tuesday) following off in leiu. They had an extra one the year of the queen's golden jubilee too.
Funniest thing here is that St. George's Day, their patron saint's day, isn't a holiday. They don't even do that much to celebrate it short of you see a new more union jacks around. St. Patrick's Day? Massive parade in Trafalgar Sq on the nearest Saturday to it. They keep talking of installing a new bank holiday but they never seem to. St. George's would be the obvious one but with two bank holidays in April already and two in May it'd also be a slightly redundant place to put it lol.
Boxing day shows up on most calendars in the U.S., but we dont do anything for it.
Also, I can't vote this up.
I get headless chicken and since I've already voted for everything on the 1st page of articles, I can't even vote for an old article to trick the system into working.
🙁
How much is the pot with the extra Pip Kelly added?
Between wich numbers can we choose?
@Glenn It's 10 gold (which I won't divide up 25/75) and 76 IEP minimum (which will be divided up) though we've now sold a good amount of tickets so it'll be a lot more than 76 IEP when it's done.
And between 1 and 50.
I always knew it as Boxing Day too, just because in America we don't celebrate all the feasts as a matter of practice (they're just tucked away on the calendar). Then we do it all on All Saints Day. Whoop-dee. I like the original Catholic tradition of individual saints' days.
Oh, yes, we have Féile Padraig and St. Valentine, but they're so distorted that I dare say most Americans don't even connect the days with the saints. Wear green or you get pinched on March 17 (I'll kick someone's ass, because I have an EMERALD tattooed PERMANENTLY in the center of the Celtic cross on my upper left arm). Buy flowers and candy and give out silly-ass cards on February 14. But most people don't even know there was saints named Patrick and Valentin.
Damn. WERE saints. Forgot my fecking Anglish.
