Lord Rhindon. His Explanation. His Farewell.
Severin Organization
His Explanation. His Farewell.
A number of less than exciting things have occurred to me this week in real-life. You have not seen me post on the forums, submitted shout-outs, or seen me talk on IRC for a few days. I don't feel I would like to elaborate on what has been going on with me outside eRepublik, it is not an obligation, but suffice it to say my attention has very necessarily been demanded away from my laptop.
"Im sure Lord Rhindon can explain this though im not sure why he didnt explain it better to you Nog." - Patton
Until now, I have not had a chance to do *anything* here besides the bare minimum - responding to the inbox, via my phone mostly (those messages to Nogin and Boru, who were asking), and posting a comment at this article, also from my phone.
Yes, that article. This afternoon, I've taken some time to sit down to write a proper response from my computer, 15 hours after Christina posted her article (and 48 hours after the Estate Draw was publicized).
So what's the situation?
The Explanation.
Unfortunately, I've been attacked on suspicions of embezzlement. There was around 2800 IEP in the Irish Community Organization account, plus 5 gold - the latter of which was a sponsorship for the event that I had kindly obtained from Nogin, or Christina. Now, it has been claimed that this money has completely disappeared - I am responsible for the theft of this amount, or part of it.
I am utterly staggered.
But I will do my best to provide the fullest explanation.
Question 1.
Christina wonders why she can see no house in the org's "donation list".
It was not bought on the black market. It was purchased on the Irish Market from BAPS Shax - the only Q5 house available to buy in the country, it was not transferred via donation, hence it does not appear on the donations list. You may confirm this with the company owner.
Question 2.
Christina wonders why I said to her "the only other place the money could have gone is my personal account".
It did not go to my personal account. I am no thief, least of all against Ireland. I was directly pointing at the fact that she was condemning me of embezzlement. This is an incredibly serious accusation. That was my way of saying "this is what you are charging me with".
Question 3.
Christina wonders why I bought a house for the equivalent of 45 gold, when I could have gotten it for less overseas - stating that I had a total of an equivalent of 55 gold in the org account.
No, I had an equivalent of approximately 47 gold in the org account. Around 2200 IEP (32 gold) as starting amount, including donations made after the term's beginning + 700 IEP (10 gold) from the Banc + 5 gold (350 IEP) from Christina. In total, approx 47 gold.
Or, in total, just over 3200 IEP.
How much was the Q5 house selling for? 3200 IEP.
Why did I buy a house from an Irish company selling for 47 gold (3200 IEP), when I could have gotten it for 35 (nearly 2,500 IEP)? If anywhere I went wrong, it was here, and here only. I had a deadline. I needed to swap nearly 2,500 IEP for 35 gold. Take a look at the Monetary Market. Do you see 35 gold sitting there ready to be bought for 70 IEP each, the rate we're dealing with? I didn't, and I still don't.
So, I decided to buy local, and swap Christina's 5 gold for IEP, to bring the grand total up to 3200 IEP. This was enough to buy the Q5 house from BAPS Shax.
Question 4.
Christina wonders why I said that the org account will be restored, via my real-life bank account, to a healthy amount.
I said this, because I realize that a Q5 house could have been bought overseas if I had waited further for several days - and because I certainly have no wish to leave the org account empty when the term was up. I intended to purchase, and I still do, 25 gold to leave in The Irish Community account when I finish.
Conclusion
So in all - I bought a house in Ireland, due to our very own monetary market constraints, for 12 gold more than I could have from an foreign company selling for less. I was, and I still am, prepared to dig into my RL bank to compensate for this, more than two-fold.
This was the only activity that would be of "in game" value I would be running this term, the establishments of the Community awards, a Community Site (which I intended to pay for), a Guild, a Roleplaying environment, and a RL campaign for eRepublik and eIreland all costing 0 gold. All my plans were announced here. I was pretty excited about getting them up and running.
I have given a huge chunk of my RL time dedicated to eIreland, this place is very close to my heart, and I get on with many citizens very well, from the President and his team to the low-ranking newcomer.
Ever since I arrived in June, I have given my heart and soul to this community, unreservedly and to the best ability I could possibly summon. And ironically, it is the Community, characterized by the face of Christina, that has seen fit to throw bucket loads of mud on me today. Over 50 votes, wow.
The Farewell.
Ever since Severin's disappearance, and my respectful resignation from IRP to allow Grainne the reins of leadership after a bit of internal confusion, I have been at a bit of a loss. I decided not to become involved in party politics for the rest of the term, in order to focus solely on the Ministry of Community.
Christina's condemnation of my integrity was the last straw. A PM I just received from her...
"Sir,
Your sums don't add up i would suggest that you do the honest thing now, resign from congress and your position in goverment, pm the president and the MOFI acknowledging that you fucked up and take whats coming like a man, you've been caught with your pants down and may get ready for the consequences which are coming.
Christina"
I was one step ahead of her. Because, before I had read this message, I had already seen her incredibly improper, accusatory and misinformed article. By that time, I had already decided.
I regret, unbelievably so, to announce that I will be soon leaving to organize a flight to eAustralia, where I will live, and intend to earn a solid name for myself in their community.
I don't wish to remain a citizen of eIreland any longer. I no longer feel welcome, and I am absolutely tired of persevering like this, giving so much, and receiving **** all in return.
I will be talking with the President. I intend to remain until the Q5 house is won and donated to the winner, until I have bought extra funds for the Community org as I had always intended, and until Aran Tal can find a suitable replacement. If this cannot be done immediately, I will maintain the department for a week or so, hopefully giving enough time to organize someone else.
As you know, I associate myself closely with the personalities of a number of characters. For good reason. A man as stouthearted as Oskar Schindler, as passionate as Henri Ducard, as principled as Qui-Gon, as dignified as Aslan and as caring of Ireland in a loving, fatherly manner, as Bryan was his daughter in captive. Well, they've all been lost to Ireland. For what? What's the gain, Christina? The profit?
Apparently I'm not the only one guilty of miscalculation.
Christina spent some time making a degrading image of me for others to chuckle at. I spent some time making a better one.
I never thought I would quote Mannimarco. But this infamous Squirrel of ours tends to have a way of surprising us...
"This is a brilliant bunch of bullshit whining that's killing Ireland. An Irish citizen [Christina] with no proof makes a post with no real substance...shortly after people are crying for the resignation of a respected community member and a brilliant minister.
This just here is what's killing Irelan

So, you're leaving eRepublik for good?
sorry to see you go.
its a real loss for ireland...
also
lol at this whole stupid situation.
that is all.
all was asked (from me at least) was an answer to these accusations. Hope you change your mind and remain here.
Read the PM Christina sent me. She had different intentions.
There are some good people here in Ireland, I'll be recognizing them when I leave...I'm just utterly disgusted at this entire debacle that was blown entirely out of proportion.
Everyone loves a good scandal, apparently. I'm not interested anymore.
I appreciate you setting this straight Lord Rhindon. I am very sorry to hear that you will be leaving us. I too hope you change your mind. If not, remember some of us while you are in eAustralia.
p.s.
I am sooooo going to miss Liam Neeson ;_; sob sob sob
*sighs* More drama is more damage for Ireland ! sad to see you go Rhindon
Good explanation, and good luck in eAustralia. It is a good place...though I don't think you'll get away from the whinging too much, a good Aussie row is a sight to behold.
It's a sad day when Irland turns on its self. Good luck Rhindon. And may things work out for you.
Sorry to see you go.
You will be missed
@ Trine - I'm Australian in RL too, I know what a rowdy pack they can be...Can't get away from the dirt wherever you are, unfortunately, but this was simply the last straw of a *whole lot* of incidents. Have not been enjoying the game at all for a number of weeks now...quite the opposite. That's really what its here for.
@ Others, thank you very much. I'll probably visit in the summers if someone would put me up for a few nights. I intend to stay in touch.
Well this is another examply of a disgraceful attack on a dedicated minister. It seems the wrong ones are being targeted.
Anyway my friend, see you in OZ. 🙂
I was an eAussie in a past life. eAustralia is currently a puppet to, and oppressed by, eIndonesia. I wish you luck, and may you be the spark to the engine of change "down under". Cheers.
It's extremely sad that these people who we're all fighting against drove you out. I think they're going to drive a lot more people out in the future.
This is one good Irish Citizen gone. how many more until it's all over and it's only the whiners and ranters left?
I won't name names, but i think certain people here should just look at themselves and Ireland for a moment, and realise the direction they are sending it in.
I still stand by my statement, and at best you have cost the country unnecessary money, what was the rush to get the house?? no date had been set for the draw, after all it wasn't a bargain price.
As for buying on the money market, yes it was possible to buy gold/iep for less yesterday than you paid and i'm sure if you had approached Brian Boru he could have provided you with the gold/IEP at a better rate.
When caught its not hard to say what you intended to do, hell, its a wonder you didn't say you'd donate the full price of the house as a guesture of your honesty (You are some bluffer - you'll go far in politics and e-australia isn't far enough.
It is a sad day, yes indeed, when an honest citizen points out the facts and quotes from the pm's she's received, doesn't receive a straight answer to her questions from a Minister who has disgraced his office by squandering money like this and then he tries to pass the blame onto her, you are a nasty piece of work.
You should be ashamed of yourself.
I Completely agree with Bryan, its a disgrace and all were doing by these false accusations is weakening eIreland. We lost a great minister and i hope you'll reconsider.
Daniel Kaffe
eIreland will be a ghost country is the continued slurs and slagging continue.
A little more respect for each other please. Cop on Christina, fair enough he did not get a great deal but that last comment was beneath you.
Oh yeah, i'm an aussie citizen in RL as well. Snap
I like Liam Neeson.
Sad to see a man of office incapable of handling legitmate criticism. You have vindacted yourself on a number of the issues raised. Although it seems there were issues relating to Severins legacy which are not public knowledge.
Christina had allowed for the possibility you had overpaid on the q5 house. That as it turns out IS the case.
Lord Rhindon, Conservative..... but unorthodox enough to waste gold.
Nogin is an honest and great citizen dont attack her, it was a misunderstanding, it is a pity to see you leave you had potentiol that was not met....goodbye
The cheapest house on the Irish market is 2999 IEP not 3200 IEP from Bap Shax, http://www.erepublik.com/en/company/baps-shax-28511" target="_blank">http://www.erepublik.com/en/company/baps[..]28511 a company with only 4 employees and not selling any product just now, but when your spending other peoples money it doesn't seem to matter what you pay and a long way from the 2000 IEP that it should have cost!!.
Theres more noise about the cost of war games, hell the money spent on this one house would have kept everyone trigger happy for a long time and theres no chat about that.
There was 2 Gold which Pip Kelly donated to the Irish Community org when I was Community Minister. I presume that is the 2 Gold that remained.
I myself purchased a Q5 house not so long ago, simply by messaging the Q5 house companies around the world(there aren't that many)and asking for the best deal. I got it for 32 Gold. That's a whole 17 gold (including Pip Kelly's unmentioned donation) cheaper than the Q5 house which was purchased now.
Question: Did you expect the lottery to make back the money? If not, then why auction a Q5 house which was going to be running at a loss? And why buy a Q5 house on the market, when it's clear that the best way to buy is by donation, as they only put Q5 houses on the market for, for want of a better term, suckers. Having to say you will repay bad decisions with real life money paints a picture of the mistakes made. I don't comment on IRP accusations as the facts are not public.
The issue here is not about accusations, or embezzlement, but about what professionals term as "best practice". Governments have a responsibility to ensure that the country is being run as efficently as possible. Half measures and explanations-after-the-event aren't good enough. People don't deserve half-measures. 17 gold is a fortune to most people.
If there hadnt been mistakes, there wouldn't have been an accusatory article. Would you have preferred this wasn't public knowledge? I had questioned the validity of the funding of the house on your lottery article, to no response. I also brought up the matter with our President and our Minister for Finance, the former saying he knew nothing about it, and the latter saying why would he investigate what his budgeted money was for.
Lord Rhindon was a highly competent politician, composed, a good worker, a colleague. We spoke often, until recenty. Now you are leaving. Should we all do the same?
"And ironically, it is the Community, characterized by the face of Christina, that has seen fit to throw bucket loads of mud on me today. Over 50 votes, wow."
Personally, I voted for that article not because I saw you as an embezzler, but simply because I wanted an explanation; I wanted the whole thing to be cleared up. I have a great deal of respect for you, Rhindon, cultivated in a relatively short space of time, which is precisely why I wanted to see your name cleared and normal business practice resumed. Instead, we get another farewell, of which we've had far too many in recent times. Best of luck in any case.
Throwing money around like there is no tomorrow, is not normal business practice, but its easy to do when its not yours and you want to make a name for yourself, the money wasted could have been spent on better things.
Thank you for buying local. Yes I realize that it is more costly but you are supporting an Irish bussiness with Irish workers. Where their pay will go to Irish goods. Awful that people are worried about that and not the money that goes back into the system in taxes.
Folks, it is called the ripple effect. So, Buy local if you can.
Practice safe economics.
LR stick around you are more of a patriot than I thought. Thanks.
-Druishman
Nogin had no agenda she was just pointing out what she (rightfully) saw as a waste of tax payers money.
It has been said that you are a great politician and it's true, I myself have a lot of respect for you but your reaction to this has been completly OTT in my opinion.
Best of luck to you in whatever you eDo but I feel your making a mistake.
Sad to see you go. I actually liked you. What a suprise, more bullshit killing Ireland. How exhausting.
Lord Rhindon, you will be missed. Best of luck in Australia, mate. Hope to see you around sometime.
The lady has a valid point, public office brings with it responsibility & accountability, no getting away from that.
You, heading back to Oz as a result, is a bit "Drastic", but that's your call.
In memory of you Rhindon, so that you will never be forgotten I purpose that all 5* star homes in eIreland, will now be called and sold as the "Lord Manor"
FFS guys, i respect quite a few of you but WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE?
We are tearing ourselves from within...
We are losing people by the dozen...
Were trying to stick the blame on others...
We need to get a grip and actually try and better our community and not degrade it.
Goodbye Lord Rhindon
anyway, she photoshoped your head terribly!
"The lady has a valid point, public office brings with it responsibility & accountability, no getting away from that.T

@Nogin "no date had been set for the draw, after all it wasn't a bargain price."
... There was/is a date for the drawing, it was/is today at 5 pm eRepublik time ...
Lord Rhindon - I appreciate your business ethics to buy local, and while it may have cost more than intended, your heart is in the right place. I have friends in eAussie, you can stay in the summer anytime, if I can come play down there too 🙂
*RDW*
No date had been set when the article was posted, it was added afterwards, and so my comments are still valid.
I do not intend to waste any more of my time replying here, i posted what was sent to me by Lord Rhiordan, there was no gold/money in the org, reported it and no reply was forthcoming so wrote the article, which contains nothing but the truth, no made up lies or excuses, just 100% facts.
No, 100% assumptions. Slanderous ones. Conclusions.
As I posted in a shout out, the draw will be delayed for no longer than 24 hours. RL. I will also make myself available to be online for an hour or two on IRC at this same time.
NOT SPEAKING, BUT THINKING.
*is biting her lip here, as there is no misunderstanding on the IRP issue. None at all. Interesting that Lord R has not made any comment on it either.*
*is hoping that his dramatic exit and arrival in eOz is not going to mudsling like this. If so, gloves will come off.
Is still not in full possession of Severin's bequest to IRP, namely Severin Organisation, (pswrds chged) and a related weapons company with unknown assets and inventory contents.
Other IRP Party Press assets were reclaimed in full, when I changed the password myself.
Don't push us, Lord R, we are not Irish fools.
We gave you every welcome and opportunity here, and this is how we're repaid?
Shame on you, Sir. Truly.*
STOPS THINKING OF LORD R, and tries to forget 🙁
Good luck in the future
Rumour, than whom none other is more swift to mischief; she thrives on restlessness and gains strength by going: at first small and timorous; soon she lifts herself on high and paces the ground with head hidden among the clouds.
Her, one saith, Mother Earth, when stung by wrath against the gods, bore last sister to Coeus and Enceladus, fleet-footed and swift of wing, ominous, awful, vast; for every feather on her body is a waking eye beneath, wonderful to tell, and a tongue, and as many loud lips and straining ears.
By night she flits between sky and land, shrilling through the dusk, and droops not her lids in sweet slumber; in daylight she sits on guard upon tall towers or the ridge of the house-roof, and makes great cities afraid; obstinate in perverseness and forgery no less than messenger of truth. She then exultingly filled the countries with manifold talk, and blazoned alike what was done and undone.

Just us Irish ones.
Outstanding Christina.

LR, I may be coming with you... I love eIreland, but economically it's just not the place to be. Oz sure does have some nice business opportunities (eg, high resources, and therefore a competitive economy, which eIreland is inexpicably lacking.)
Oh and Nog, if you're reading this, you should be ashamed of yourself. Despite the fact that muckraking is a wonderfully despicable act, that horrid attempt at poetry is unforgivable.
I don't think a short quote from the Aeneid really deserved such a frosty, gender specific reply :/

"which eIreland is inexpicably lacking"
Ah guys, where did we leave our high regions? I know they are around here somewhere...
@Dub: What was gender specific about my comment?
@Digits: Lacking, not missing. I find it ridiculous that eIreland has zero high resource areas, when quite a few other countries (with much smaller IRL economies) are blessed with multiple high resource regions. It cripples our economy and therefore our chances for future growth.
