Lon Kirk: the interview (110th issue)

Day 944, 07:43 Published in United Kingdom Latvia by SpeedKing

After receiving citizenship several days ago, I immediately wanted to interview the guy who approved my application (and who for some time was my new best eFriend), Lon Kirk. He didn't have time for that until recently.

Hello, Lon Kirk. Tell a bit about yourself in real life.
I am 25, live in Southampton Hampshire. I support Saints. I work for the minimum wage as a scanner operator.

When did you join eRepublik?
I played eRep since October 2009, but for the first three months I was a two clicker.

How did you find this game?
It was an annoying advert on Fanfiction.net. I clicked on it and watched the video and thought it was good to play.

When you stopped being a two-clicker, did you start a political or a military career?
I got to Level 7 and joined the party in the Top 5 which had for me the best name, British Empire Party. Then I left that as it was. But then Daniel Thorrold (or Thorrold as he is known) PM me and badged me to go to the eUK forums, which I did about two weeks after he started. I got enthusiastic about the political side, but then the military asked me to join through Blandman, I think. I went to their hub and then joined them. I do everything now in the game with 100% effort and enthusiasm as that is why I am so hocked of the game.

How long did you stay in the British Empire Party?
I stayed with BEP for about 6 months, until it suffered a PTO and was made the joke of the eUK political scene.

What did you do then?
I stayed in the new BEP party for a bit, but then Melophore came to me with good ideas. And the benefits of the joining the SDP I did after a week of him badging me. I joined for the chance to work on a political party that was small so I had a chance to be a big fish in it. Also it was more like the real life politics I support. I did not join TUP as it was too big. And I dislike the idea of a party being for everyone.

When did you first run for congress?
Last month. I was always planning to earlier, but the right time never came with the BEP. And last month was the right time as the SDP was a Top 5 party for the first time ever. I joined the SDP when it had only about 15 members. I campaigned by using a template of a manifesto I had made for my campaign as PP for the BEP. I made updates for the manifesto to be more about the South East of England. I live in London in game as that is what the government and military of eUK want everyone to do. But I live in South East England IRL so that is why I chose that region to stand for.

Did becoming a congressman change anything in your eLife?
As a congressman, I have done "What is best for eUK, my region, then my party." As a congressman I have to spend more time on eRep than before. I love it as it is gives me more XP than others. But it is overall very hard work if you take it serious as I do. I love being in congress and I would say everyone should try to be one, as it's about working for the eUK in a whole new way, helping pass the right laws, stopping the passing of bad laws. Giving approves to foreign citizens who want to join the eUK as eUK citizens, that is the bit I love most. Overall, I do what my party thinks is essential, but I vote for things is mostly based on my consciences on what is right for the eUK as whole.

Have you ever thought about becoming a minister?
I am an apprentice in the citizen department of eMoHA as I want to get experience in government so that one day I can be a minister and in years time be the CP of this great country.

So you're mainly a politician. Do you have a company?
I have an organisation, which is called Ultimate Inc, it has three companies which at the moment have no employees as it's not profitable to operate them until the market pick up when V2 gets released to everyone. The companies are not British, the organisation is American. I was trying to bring back foreign money into the eUK economy. I have help running them. My companies are floated on the ErepX.

Have you tried being a journalist?
I do have a newspaper in game, but I use it only to put out my manifesto. I will go for the media mogul after I have been a minister. The newspaper is called the South East Times. I believe that it's everyones duty to help each other out. I have become known as a helpful player in game.

What do you think about V2?
I do not know, I just think if it was good it would be released already. I await it with fear. I like the version as it is. But I will face V2 as the next big scary challenge.

Alright, thank you for the interview. Any last words to the readers?
Beware which political party you join, take you time and make sure that it politics is the same as your in real life. Ask not what your country can do for you: ask what you can do for your country. Finally, be friendly to all and be polite.
