Liar Liar

Hello eSouth Africa,

How have you been since we last saw each other?
Good? Good. Now lets talk about things unrelated to eRepublik. Like this song which gives my article its name because I couldn't think of anything else.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8rCy173y7Y Groovy yea? No don't worry, I'm not accusing anyone of being a liar. I just like the song.

So now that you have background music, lets talk about eRepublik after all. That's right, this time I'm not here to make a photo album (but I will throw in a completely unrelated photo like always).

Congratulations to everyone who was elected into congress. I'm sad to see that Oprah is not among us. You will be missed. But I am very happy to see new players in congress for the first time, and others returning to activity.

Also, thank you in particular to Gabe and Tenshibo. You know why 😉

Lets make this a good term. How? What makes a successful eGovernment? Well first I would stress activity. Be pro-active. If you don't see a clearly defined path, make your own. Invent something new to do and get others to do it with you. You never need to wait for someone else to lead the way. Just try to think through that thing you want to do and make sure its productive and helpful to eSA first.

Secondly, if you see an opportunity that you want, stand up and let people know. Fear of "stepping on other people's shoes" is irrational. Make yourself heard and don't be afraid. This is not just in the spirit of OOPS, but in the spirit of eSA which I feel has always been inclusive. Government roles are not first come first serve. You will never get anywhere without stepping on those shoes. If you're turned down, don't give up, just work harder to prove that your worthy for the job and try again. eSA should not slip into oligarchy just because we don't have many citizens. Those citizens we do have that have a desire for an office should always be vocal. Give the people multiple options. The results are in the votes or the choices of officials and not in the nomination phase.

This also ties into being pro-active. I know that sometimes, especially today, it can seem like there's a concrete structure in eSA that needs to be followed. To some degree there is... But mostly, this entire government was made of player innovation, and its exactly that innovation which will keep it from stagnating. There is never a final form to eSA government, it should always be changing. In this way, there are no walls holding you in. If you take initiative to do something good for the country, people will support you.

These things were the keys to the success I had as MoFA all those terms. And I truly believe that they are what can carry any endeavour in eRepublik to something to be proud of. Something fun and engaging.

Here's the unrelated picture I promised.

Until next time,
