OK America. Time to get real with you.
You're driving away the people who built this country, and the people who can keep it from dying. I wish I could swear, but this article needs to exist tomorrow.
Emerick is leaving. Sure he hasn't been Emerick for a while, but that doesn't matter. For those of you who never worked with Emerick, I'm sorry. He was one of the best, in his time. I came back to a different guy, but sometimes we'd talk, and I'd see the old Em, and it was awesome. Despite me raging on him at times, and people giving him shit, he is one of the best players in the history of this game, and has had more of an impact than most of you can know. He wanted to breed a new generation of people who could play like he did. People who could motivate a country. Say what you will about where the ideas he used came from, or who did what, I don't care. Emerick wrote his own articles. Did his own trolling. That was what made Emerick. Not 'saving America'. Not being President. It was what he did. What he said. Go read his articles from 2009. They were excellent.
Publius is inactive. Sucks, but it's true. He still fights for Dio, he still idles on IRC, but he's not in America. Not fighting for us, not working with us. Why? The country disappointed him. I'm not speaking for him, he hasn't told me this, but I feel it is accurate. If he'd like to correct me, he can do so.
Gaius is gone. I started to really hate him at the end, for the way he treated the people who helped him get that Presidential medal he wanted so badly, but he was smart, and did a lot for us.
One Eye left. I wasn't here for when he did, and haven't talked to him in almost a year, but he's gone. Someone who knows why, feel free to comment. Could be burnout, could just be that he was tired of it all.
Jewitt just left. Why? RL definitely played a role, but if he didn't feel like things were going downhill every day, I never really knew him.
I could keep going, but I'm literally tearing up thinking about all the great people I've seen come and go in the last 3 years. I hate that it's happening, and I don't like admitting it, but for the 10 people who read this and understand, it's worth it.
Who will lead us? Who is left? I don't even know. I thought Inwegen could help right this ship. Get a team of really solid people into key posts, have younger up and comers learn from them, and start growing the next generation. Sadly, it appears that you're rejecting him. Rejecting a man that has worked for more Presidents than some of you have been 'alive' for.
Uncle Sam , Scrabman (all 3 months), Harrison Richardson (both he was elected to), Josh Frost (significant portions of both), Woxan, Choclate McSkittles, St Krems (both)
That is the list. That's the list of Presidents under whom Inwegen has worked. In all of those Administrations he has been Secretary of State, Chief of Staff, or the only person on the 'Advisor' list that really mattered. You're looking at 12 months. That's a year, for those of you who are a little slow.
Let me say that again.
One Year.
He's given you a year of his life. I know during Scrabman and HR's administrations, he was basically 24/7. I know cause I worked with him a little during both. Under Frost, he's basically run the country. Josh is a good guy, and I thank God that he ran and won. We needed him. However, Inwegen made the month work. Krems too, watch out, or you people will kill him next.
I hate you all for making me write this. For making me think about the fact that you're throwing a way a chance to save yourselves. Again.
For my friends, I thank you for being here.
For the people who've already gone, I miss you.
For the people who I will one day leave behind, Never forget. Never forget the people I've listed here. Never forget the people I didn't. Everyone has someone in this game that will be forgotten by everyone else. If I'm the only one who remembers these guys in a few years, that's fine.

Interesting Article, two phrazes caught my attention though:
"He's given you a year of his life" - Participating in a community, irrespective of level of participation, is hardly 'giving me' anything; Participation is an expression of free will.
Inwegen's comment regarding "Dark Day In America" - Like above, a meaningless guilt trip; Remember the old addage "Life is what you make of it; if it gives you lemons, sell lemonaide."
Both of the above are guilt trips; and will play no part within serious deliberation during this PotUS election. Haliman for PotUS 2011 January!

@s0beit If he doesn't get it, he doesn't get it. That wasn't the point of this article. The point was to vent some feelings that have been latent for a while. jewitt and Em leaving pushed me over.
This wasn't the main point, but it bugged me: Who said America is rejecting Inwegen? You oldfgts call these elections to the newbie candidate every month, but look who our last presidents have been.
@s0beit; when viewed from certain perspectives yes, one could reasonably state that any specific individual has 'given' [length of time] to 'the community' of which they are a part. With the same logic, I could 'reasonably' state that I've 'given' the community the stability of California Cakes throughout the totality of v2; yet If I ever did, I would be sure to represent it alongside a positive, unifying message.
@Henry; I do acknowledge that this article is an expression of grief regarding the nation's apparent direction thus far this year. I personally grieve for every 'old snork' whom chooses to depart from our community; as their experience and perspective become lost forever to the community once they leave. I apologize for interupting your time of mourning during the departure of favored members of the community; in my eRep experience I have already lost most of my oldest friends merely because time waits for no one.
Vote Haliman this election. The assumptions about some causes for the forum exodus are . . . . fail.
Newborns: Visit a few party forums if the eUSA forum is not your cup of tea.

@Blank, the 'actives' are. That is in quotes cause the people voting in the party primaries have no idea what they're doing. There has never been a first time candidate more ready and accomplished than Wiggy. I regret pushing him to run, after all of the comments I've heard from people about him and his activity. He doesn't deserve that from people who have no idea about him.

call us assholes, call us trolls, or w/e. calling Inwegen unqualified and inactive is just ignorant. When I bash on someone, I'm usually pointing out a fault that is at least true. I say usually cause sometimes it's Custer or Alee, and I just really don't like them.

Doesn't mean you should point it out. People don't like to have their faults told to them and the rest of the world. Hence why a lot of people avoid the forums - because people like you feel the need to be negative in order to feel better about yourself.
It's not always "true" or relevant. Quite often you guys attack people just for disagreeing, usually with irrelevant information just to distract from their points.
Qualified is subjective.. Depends on the qualities you think are required of a leader. Does he know how to push the buttons? Ofc he does, he knows the govt as well as anyone. Can he unite and lead the US? A great many of us don't think so. His climb to power left many insulted and abused players in it's wake. There's more to leading than knowing how the government operates. His very nature is divisive and condescending. That is not what we need.
I completely agree with you Colin on all of the above points; Further, the Tech's as 6th party maintain that all those responsible for the management of ERX should be held wholly responsible for their acts of treason. The Legislature should unite to seek justice on behalf of the citizenry of our eNation.
In light of the new rules of v3 mechanics, we as a nation will continue to entrench ourselves within this eWorld with renewed purpose and vigor during 2011.
Colin, I respect that you don't like me. It really doesn't bother me. I'm just going to point out the flaw in your last comment. Most of the people who don't like me or my "climb to power" weren't even alive when I became a "big" player in the nation. That was months before WWIII and the only way I got there was by building up the USWP to be a strong enough party to survive the war and a ton of other crap as you well know.
That party is probably one of the strongest in game and I'm sure it will never fall. You may not like me or my methods, but it's those methods that were shared by people like scrabman and other party elders that got it where it is. We were ruthless and cutthroat. In all honesty, the USWP of today is very similar to that of yesteryear: Doing whatever they want simply because they can. That's the monster my generation built. You may not like it, but the differences between myself and yourself and your friends are, in reality, not that different.

It is not unrelated to this article, in fact it goes to the heart of whether or not Inwegen can 'run' anything. I agree that anyone who had even the slightest responsibility in either PENIX, ERX or T'jelle Bank has committed treason by costing American investors 40,000 gold.

@Robert: Treason is very simple in definition; one acts selfishly while representing national interests, and is caught. The Drumhead Follows, Vultures Circle, and the guilty tend to be purged from society. Additionally, those who attempt to abate justice tend to be the first to fall... why would any citizen object to Government oversight in attempts to recoup losses which would benefit the entire nation?

-I agree, I witnessed this firsthand (as USWP PP, when Inwegen jacked our forums). Inwegen is out for himself, don't think that just because he was in some cabinets, he has the ability to lead this country.

- Complete bullshit, the people that built the party were Speedcat, lightreb, Gobucks, etc. I was there. You weren't even a party member dip.
While we're on the topic of being real, dear author whom I do not know and have never heard of, some of those names you mention are ego-centric insulting douches. I understand they're your friends and you've played a game with them in a special club for a long time, but things change.
I used to give 24/7 to this game as a eUS military officer, eventually JCS, and what I got in return from some of those folks you mention is derision, lies, insults. If they wondered why things were crumbling around them, maybe their answer was as close as the nearest mirror.
