LEIWAHARA FOR CONGRESS

Day 1,004, 01:48 Published in South Korea New Zealand by leiwahara

It is Day 1,004, here in the eRepublik, and the day draws near for us to whip out our sharpened No. 2s (or ready your index finger, for those in more privileged regions with fancy touch-screen technology) and decide the fate of South Korea over the course of the next month. With our newly elected President settling in to his office smoothly, it is now time for us as citizens to decide which of the beaming, whitening-strip quality smiles we wish too see serving under him as Congress Men and Women. Such has been the course of politics for as long as eRepublik has been around.

However, there is a problem that has seemed to plague South Korea, in particular, when it comes to such political decisions. It is not a small problem, and it is not easily rectified. It is something that we, as citizens, can hope to prevent, yet we are the main cause.

Inactivity.

Nothing quite steps on the jugular of a nation more than for its citizens, let alone its elected officials, to remain absent from important in-game discussions and decisions. While it is very understandable that each player has his or her own style of play, and each their own share of time that they are able to commit to such a game, a voice that remains silent is a voice unnoticed. A voice unnoticed is an opinion unheard. When it is a congressman or congresswoman who is silent, it is a region unspoken for, and regions have many voices.

That is why I come before you today to announce my candidacy for Congress, particularly in the Chungcheongbuk-do Region of South Korea. It is my sincere hope to wake the "dead" congress and to light a fire under the feet of those slacking in their duties.

A man* once stated that an army of sheep led by a lion is far more dangerous than an army of lions led by a sheep. With the current war between our ally, Russia, and the Americans, it would be an understatement to say that South Korea is not as properly prepared as we should like to be. However, because the passion and activity of our Minister of Defense is great (as a lion), he is able to lead what may be seen as a weak army (the sheep), but is in fact more powerful than the most powerful of armies led by inactive and quiet leaders. In the same way, I hope to provide a lion's voice for the citizens of South Korea.

*Alexander the Great

As a member of eSouth Korea, I have provided my country with the following:
-High Activity: From my very first day in eRepublik, I have never missed a day in logging on, replying to any and all messages received in my inbox, and reading through the latest news articles. I have been present on both IRC in #sk, as well as visiting my party's forums (Sin-Gan Association) and keeping in touch with veteran members to the fullest of my abilities.

-Local Media Outlet: From the moment I was first able to found a newspaper, I did so, under the name "The Square Coffee". In a matter of a week, I have published three acceptable-length articles with this statement of candidature marking my fourth official publication. However, apart from my own publications, I have also been featured in a few other articles, including Grain of Sand. I have become immensely interested in the media, and wish to keep my publication of "The Square Coffee" up-to-date, and readily available.

As a Congress-Woman, I hope to provide the citizens of South Korea with the following:
- Continued High Activity In-Game
- Continued High Activity on IRC Channel #sk
- Continued Up-to-Date Publication of The Square Coffee
- Full Cooperation with President Grease and his Appointed Officials
- Frequent Updates and Reminders on Important eSK Discussions/Decisions

It is time that we have done some cleaning up and revamping for the sake of the leaders, the sake of the citizens, and for the sake of South Korea. Let us not fall into waste by our own hands.
