Legal spam?
I occasionally move my paper to other countries, when and if I want to tell them something, or I think that my article interest them. It happens about once a month or so, and on these occassions I conform to readers by writing English version first, as a courtesy.
But more and more often, my subscription box is flooded with the same articles, that one newspaper-owner publishes in dozens of countries, or occasionally in all countries. It annoys me to no end, for these articles have no topic that would interest that country, it is not written for them, it does not concern them, the author usually does not even care for answering the comments there - only the writer wants to force his/her views, ideas or thoughts on them; or even worse, just wants to collect subscribers by carrying a sensational piece of information around the New World.
I usually inform these in one comment, that they earned an unsubscribe from me for it, because I do consider it to be spamming, no matter what the rules say - for they say if the 100 identical article appears in different countries, then it is OK - and so I will not put up with it in my subscription box. Also these articles carry a definite unfair advantage as opposed to local papers; imagine how a Croatian or Hungarian paper gains hundreds of native votes in a matter of minutes, and no paper in a smaller country can compete with it - even though they are more relevant to that country's readership. Also a paper brought in to a country that uses not English, such an article can be considered as spam, insult, or just an annoying alien thing there.
So, these dozens or hundreds of identical articles in different countries are annoying, disturbing, creating unfair competition, and their worth is at least questionable, at worst just outright subscriber-acquisition - in short, legal spam.
Now, what could be done about it? Older players tell me, that there used to be a small fee for moving a newspaper to another country. They say it was 2 gold, and it effectively curbed this annoying spamming that we see nowadays. I think it would be wise to have this fee again - in a way it'd still make possible to move a paper if an important piece of news (or propaganda😁
must be brought to another country (maybe on a governmental level) - but the newspaper owners would think twice befor taking nonsense to a dozen countries or collecting subscribers this way.
On that thought maybe 2 golds is a bit too much... maybe 1 gold is enough to make people think twice before moving a paper - and it would be roughly on the level of the price of the ads, making them comparable. But for sure something must be done, for more and more people not only use, but abuse the free moving of the papers.
An alternative would be to restrict the moving of a paper to like 1/day or even 1/week, but I am unsure if it is feasible at all.
I am curious who thinks what about it.

SPAUSTRIAMAXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX!
I so agree with this... I'm also the kind that unsuscribe directly when an article spams my suscriptions inbox.
But I think that limiting a newspaper to publishing one (or two) articles a day would also be enough as that would avoid "illegal" spam too without creating a gold-cost to those of us who eventually thinks an article might be interesting abroad.
Voted 😁

It should be a 5G license which posts an article in the "Global" media.
hundreds of articles...
lolll
use unsubscribe, end of story
I'd prefer a restriction on the amount of times you can move a paper in a 24 hour period as opposed to having to pay each time. Sometimes, official papers need to legitimatly move a lot, and the costs would add up. But yes, otherwise I agree.
0.5 gold will be a decent fee, QS. Btw, have you read about Zaney legend?
Come and read it on my newspaper 🙂
I back Meiko on this one... One might actively publish in two countries. A home country and another where he/she has some kind of interest. This can be a completely normal thing (I did this myself for instance).
Limiting article/day looks much better. Set it to some reasonable number (2-3 ought to be good I think). For a higher number, make it a feature bought for gold (like box extension but for a single day).
my 2 cents (pennies 🙂 )
Necrosis, I am trying to imagine that reason for moving a paper a lot of times... and if that is so, they can make an org with a paper in the target country, like an embassy paper...
I have indeed read and enjoyed it Wander Howard, mmm, I mean Forward. 🙂
malta, that would probably mean the complete rearrangement of the news section...
I recommend a media segmentation as follows:
1. Newspaper for classified ads should be paid by posting (0,2-05 Gold or so) - here you cannot vote, cannot sub, but can comment
2. Regular national Newspapers (One time cost of 2 Gold as it is and cost of 0,2 Gold per article)
3. Global newspaper (maybe 10 Gold) and the writer may choose to publish in as many countries as (s)he wishes, but each selected country release should cost 0,1 Gold or so.
The more complex system we make up, the less likely it will ever get implemeted...

I have an idea...
why don't you stop writing
The e UK has been famous for employing this tactic, especially in e Canada. This is just another way of spamming a country, no different than jumping into an irc channel and spamming that channel, which the e UK is also noted for.
Maybe with your subscription list, you could post weekly a list of all the people who spam you’re in box and have your readership send a friend request or some sill message that you list in the paper to the offenders, I am sure that after the first 1500 or so they will not bother you anymore.
On a side note, why do you not ask some of your friends to do the honourable and civilized thing and return the ill-gotten gold to Spain? There was clearly a mistake, unintentional as it was, in the name of fair play this should be done. Otherwise I foresee thousands of players leaving this game shortly.
Enjoyed your last post, very nice.
Stupid idea.
Why should only rich people "allowed" to change countries?
Stupid idea.
I think it's a good idea. I agree.
Vote.
Trying to black out the foreign press now?
Good article, glad you're in the eUK 🙂
I think there should be a few free moves a day and then a small charge on moving, pretty much what others have said ^
