Leaders of Tomorrow
Veronica Young
There has been much talk amongst older players: Who can take over if all the veteran leaders leave? When will the next wave of American leaders rise?
The answer? Never.

WWIII offered an unique opportunity that propelled the careers of a select group of people. They were given the chance to test the games limits. Make decisions that were only held up to public scrutiny if they failed. Before that time most knowledge about the game's mechanics had been theory at best. When eAmerica had almost nothing left, we had to act quickly. It was then that a string of policy was created; policy that has changed little since.
Now we are in a rut.

But let's not kid ourselves, the reason for this is not the lack of massive invasion. Older players have become ridiculously incredulous. New ideas are immediately shot down with resentment. Change is looked down upon and scoffed at.
No one dare question the impeccable "stuff > gold".
Congress has lost its power.
Our beliefs are set in stone. Only to be discussed, not acted upon.
Maybe these are the best ideas out there. But until we experiment, how can we know for sure? Mistakes will be made as always, but through that, a new group of experts will arise. This is much more valuable than being so petrified of change that we do nothing. Otherwise, what's the point? All we have now are people pushing buttons based on theories older than them. The game has become a meaningless tripe of mediocrity.

Even creating a climate where open debate is welcomed would be a step in the right direction. Considering other options, and thinking about it. Instead, all we have are people who shoot down debates based on what they have been told is the only way. People are quick to say they are all for new ideas and debate, but once they arrive, nothing comes out of it. Talk is cheap.
There are no ways for us to fix this game; no matter how hard we try. However, it is in our best interest to change our attitude towards the future. We have very little to lose, and everything to gain.

You know what? When phrased like this it sounds like the movie "City of Ember" (200😎. Good read Veronica, would like to see some policy wiggle myself! Voted.
Good Read, voted.

Kammy Vanilla this article is nothing about the POTUS elections so basically what your actions are saying is that S.E.E.S. will troll everyone anyways.
Veronica Young I like the ideas and if you can encourage policy reform then I am glad that the Federalists were given the opportunity to run such a great NOS candidate.
Great Article, I actually wrote an article just now about how the older players have created a society in which new voices are shot down.
The Older Players have created a system in which those who don't agree with them, are complete idiots and are never allowed to in any sort of power in this game.
Stuff > Gold is true though. Think about it.
@ Walter: Destructive criticism doesn't accomplish anything. You wrote an article explaining why the US sucks, offered PtH as an alternative, then left the country.
@ Veronica: I commend your audacity in questioning the status quo. I personally think the track that you're on is the right one. The current leadership has lived and developed in V1 and adjusted their beliefs accordingly. This is V2, and perhaps there are new, better alternatives to the way we do things now. I look forward to how you carry along this idea. Best of luck.
@ Blanemcc
retention > stuff > gold
Creating an environment in which people have fun will cause us to be a stronger county as people will be more willing to participate for the better
@ Everyone else
Thanks 🙂
rlee16807: I left the country as I saw a chance to run a high region grain company. I had been waiting to be in charge of a company for quite some time. I didn't apply for citizenship, I kept my American Citizenship. I didn't offer PTH as an alternative, but used him as an example of needing to give someone a chance to redeem themselves, to prove themselves. And my article is telling the facts on why the USA is not as great as it once was. And again, I moved to a country where I could run a successful business. I still am an American. But please bash me for taking a different perspective on the situation. I mean all I did was ask for Americans to think for themselves, and to create a system in which new players feel important. Please tell me how that is such a bad thing? Oh... Wait I also said I didn't approve of the selling of our land. It's a personal view on the subject.
voted! great article! im hoping to see more soon! 🙂
Your shout says america sucks.
You should buy an org for 5g and run your company through that. Then you can free up your citizen to work somewhere else as opposed to being a GM.
Where'd I bash you again?
So... My shout from awhile ago saying "America Sucks", means i'm not proud to be an American. I said America Sucks, because I don't agree with how it is run. I did buy an organization, but it was stationed in America. I don't think it will let me run the company through it, nor do I have the gold to create another at the moment. You didn't bash me, sorry about that part.
I cannot stress enough how much I agree with your article. The stagnancy and refusal to even try new things (with the exception of HR's primary) is what I believe is causing a lot of our problems.
For example, a lot of new Congressmen are told not to mess with taxes / economy. While this may safeguard us against people making uneducated, inexperienced mistakes, there's no reason they should always shout down the concept of lessening our enormous taxes.
Our bros up north have half our taxes, a smaller population, and are doing quite well... and I can assure you that if it weren't for my loyalty to ST6 and working in their commune, I'd go work in Canada and I'd make a lot more money with which to buy weapons, food, put it all back into the market and further fight for said country. Giving back to the people in the form of tax cuts always revitalizes the market, and yet this RL-proven event has been vehemently argued against for a very long time. And that's just one example.
RL-Proven Examples are always shot down for some reason.
Yes, they usually shoot such things down on the presumed basis that RL principles have no place among game mechanics and will not work in the same way. While that may have some merit on specific occasions, it's also equally insane to deny that what I said above can not also apply within the limits of the game to some degree. It's really just an excuse.
Walter Lee Younger = Pizza the Hut
Duh.
I'm not a multi of PTH, but I do know you are a multi of St. Krem. Now STFU, and don't spread rumors that everyone who doesn't completely hate the guy is a multi of him.
Canada has the worst economy in the game. Low revenue, meh wages, and expensive products. RL economics don't translate into the eRep economy at all.
We used to experiment, and we got no where. An unstable economy, low income, joke of a military. Then One Eye and Publius pushed the PANEC system and low tariffs. Suddenly we had a robust economy, steady income, and a powerful military because of it. It's been set in stone for a year and we've come so far from where we used to be.
We don't experiment because we've found what works best for America through 2 years of hard labour. Of course there's always going to be a new Kongress person who thinks they can make a change for THE BENEFIT OF THE PEOPLE. OH GOD.
Very nice article Veronica.
I think that well proposed ideas are, usually, given an opportunity for fair and open debate. The problem usually lies in the presentation and delivery more than the new idea itself.
In my humble opnion.
And yes, our Congresswoman IS a Rock Star.

^ Canadian article researching the strength of Canadian currency and their economy. I am by no means vouching for that individual's research accuracy, but if you'd like to go refute their data, by all means, I'd be interested in learning otherwise.
While I normally don't disagree with you, I still think my last comment's example is applicable. I'm not going to continue to pursue the topic since that same mentality is the very problem this article discusses: it's like arguing with a brick wall.
Yes, and if you read that article you can see how pathetic their economy is; it only strengthens my point that their economy is garbage. A strong currency is bad in v2. The new production formulas have induced rampant deflation and the Canadians insist on maintaining an unsustainable peg.
They have some of the highest prices in the world because they divide their small workforce over 4 RMs, 4 Weapon industries, housing, food, and tickets. With sky high tariffs, no one bothers importing to Canada because they're selling at a loss and Canada keeps it's high prices and low income. America is in the same position: our workforce can't produce everything we need so prices are cheap for maximum consumption. We substitute this with imports.
I encourage people to debate. If you bring me solid theory and numbers that take into account the game mechanics and production formulas in the game, I will debate with you. However, the arguments that the top American economists are elitists, or that "American businesses are suffering," or the we have a weak economy comments have no ground if you don't back them up.
I remember eLife before PANEC. It sucked p. hard.
I think the main reason why older players get so combative is two-fol😛
1. They spent years developing these ideas and systems, and to have someone come in and say OH GOD IT'S ALL WRONG, basically comes across as, "I don't care that you put in two years playing this game, I have played for 2 months and I know it better." The 2 month old then proceeds to destroy 2 years worth of work, go "lol whoops" and then quit. - I would RAGE too.(Yes, it's happened)
2. You hear the same complaints, the same arguments, the same ideas that have failed month after month, and after awhile, you look around and think to yourself, "Jesus Christ, am I Bill Murray? Is this Groundhog Day?"
let's revive this
lol
fucking priceless
Still actual.
