There has been much talk amongst older players: Who can take over if all the veteran leaders leave? When will the next wave of American leaders rise?

The answer? Never.

WWIII offered an unique opportunity that propelled the careers of a select group of people. They were given the chance to test the games limits. Make decisions that were only held up to public scrutiny if they failed. Before that time most knowledge about the game's mechanics had been theory at best. When eAmerica had almost nothing left, we had to act quickly. It was then that a string of policy was created; policy that has changed little since.

Now we are in a rut.

But let's not kid ourselves, the reason for this is not the lack of massive invasion. Older players have become ridiculously incredulous. New ideas are immediately shot down with resentment. Change is looked down upon and scoffed at.

No one dare question the impeccable "stuff > gold".

Congress has lost its power.

Our beliefs are set in stone. Only to be discussed, not acted upon.

Maybe these are the best ideas out there. But until we experiment, how can we know for sure? Mistakes will be made as always, but through that, a new group of experts will arise. This is much more valuable than being so petrified of change that we do nothing. Otherwise, what's the point? All we have now are people pushing buttons based on theories older than them. The game has become a meaningless tripe of mediocrity.

Even creating a climate where open debate is welcomed would be a step in the right direction. Considering other options, and thinking about it. Instead, all we have are people who shoot down debates based on what they have been told is the only way. People are quick to say they are all for new ideas and debate, but once they arrive, nothing comes out of it. Talk is cheap.

There are no ways for us to fix this game; no matter how hard we try. However, it is in our best interest to change our attitude towards the future. We have very little to lose, and everything to gain.
