Introduction
"Old Man" Custer

Welcome, dear readers, to the second edition of the Lap Dancers' Gazette, the Official News Source of the Liberty Advancement Party. Today’s edition represents the culmination of Lesson Two, in which we explore the various types of Interviews.

LAP Education Department
Staff Writer Nesterus, with Education Director TellUrGrlThx

The LAP Education Program has been kicked into high gear this past month. Party VP TellUrGrlThx has worked tirelessly day and night to ensure that our new players have the tools they need.
Pulling double duty as Education Director, TellUrGrlThx adds, “Education for LAP members is vital. Newer players need to know about the programs we have and where to find the help they need to boost their gameplay to the next level.”

TellUrGrlThx has used ingenious tactics to lay the framework and the foundation for a lasting system that strives simply to put information into the heads of players of all levels. The LAP plans to be around for a very long time, and the Education Director hinted at an upcoming Wiki for the LAP, to put all of our information in one easy to find place. “We stand at a crossroads. Looking back in a year we will see just how far we have come.”

LAP Recruitment & Retention Department
Staff Writer TellUrGrlThx, with Retention Director Nesterus and Recruitment Director Lothair

Tug: How have the Recruitment and Retention departments been so far since you guys started in your jobs?
Nest: Well when I first took over Retention. We didn’t have much of a department, so there was a lot of room to work with on what we could do or make up so it has been a challenge so far. We have a few events planned and things to bring interest towards LAP along with the start of our Mass mailing system that we have named “Liberty Advancement Weekly Newsletter or LAWN for short.
Lothair: Setting up the Recruitment Department has been going great! Apollo II is bringing many newbs into the game and many of those who stay are rushing right for the LAP. We are after all, a new party favorable to those who need a leg up to start their political journey.

Tug: What events do your two Departments have planned so far?
Nest: Retention has a surprise event from our Party President Aramec, which not even I know what it is. Then on Saturday Dec 7th, we’re gonna have our first ever IRC Hide n Seek game. We outlined that in the previous edition of the Gazette.
Lothair: We have a couple Recruitment ideas in the works, but if I told you I’d have to kill you.
Actually, we are hunting the ‘new player list’ for players who have not even finished the game tutorial and giving them our message of turning them into politically and mechanically savvy players ready to make history.

Tug: What issues have you faced so far?
Nest: So far our biggest issues have been related to not having enough players to get things done faster, or done at a wider scale. So what we are really saying is, we need more players who are willing to give the dedication and effort to help the LAP become something more with commitment and visionary ideas.
Lothair: I think our biggest issue as a whole has been our lacking numbers of players who are helping out. Right now we have a clean slate as a new party we can do anything we want with it and choose where to go. But for those things to speed up in a sense we need to have more involvement.

Tug: What do you think is the best attribute of the LAP so far?
Nest: As our VPP has said many times is that LAP is a new Party and there is so much you can do with it. There is no status quo; no new idea is too radical. New players, and new ideas are not shot down, but explored to see how they might be developed.
Lothair: We are primed to make our own destiny. Both new players and those who’ve been here since V2 will be able to navigate the e-world with ease and through the support of our Party.

LAP Media Department
Party President Aramec, with Media Director Custer

As you probably know, Custer’s main involvement in eRep is as a writer. As Secretary of Media under several Presidents, he’s developed and honed a segment format for the WHPR that makes it easy to produce a consistent product from one edition to the next. “I think we’ve all had RL jobs where only one guy held key information on how to do some task, then when he’s absent or leaves the job everyone is screwed. It’s important to develop a system and teach it to everyone who’s involved in that job, so anyone should be able to step in if needed.”

Custer now heads up the LAP’s Media Department, which doubles as the Media College. “The idea is that players will learn all about publishing newspapers, doing interviews, meeting deadlines, etc., on the local level, so they can move on to become Media Officers for their Party or even the nation’s Executive Cabinet Departments.”

LAP Executive Office
Staff Writer Sharky Malarkey, with Party President Aramec

I caught up with Party President Aramec to ask him a few questions about the current state of the Party and its future.

Sharky: You seem to be a very busy man. How are you handling your increased responsibilities as PP?
Aramec: Well, I’m pretty busy doing MoFA (Secretary of State) things, so I rely a lot on my VP to help keep things going in the Party.

Sharky: With LAP being an up and coming party, what departments do you see as fundamental to increased success after the honeymoon ends, so to speak?
Aramec: Well, the first thing we got going was Media. But really, most important will be our efforts toward internal communications. We’ve just sent out our first Party-wide mass message, to direct members to our IRC channel, Party forum and this newspaper.

Sharky: How do you plan to staff these positions?
Aramec: At first we’ve just taken anyone who’s expressed interest. Of course, I hope the people who were “first in line” to get fancy job titles live up to their expectations. But as more members sign up to work in the various Departments we’ll have a larger talent pool to work with.

Sharky: Criticism has been given to LAP for it’s lack of financial power. How does a newer party go about collecting revenue so that support can be given to members?
Aramec: We are cash poor now, that’s for sure. Internal Party programs like the government’s Meals on Wheels and Tank Up are simply going to have to wait till we can establish a solid base of active and dedicated members. We are hoping that players can dedicate some resources to building up a supply base and volunteering for QM duties

Sharky: To me, LAP is a Party of potential. New faces are allowed to contribute and older players are encouraged to share their knowledge. With the right amount of dedication, teamwork and support, we hope this party is here to stay.
Aramec: I think you’ve hit the nail squarely on the head, Sharky. The LAP is bound to suffer some growing pains because we’re new. Organizing and starting is always harder than running an ongoing program. We’re doing basic team building, learning how to work together and dedicate to the LAP being the Party of New Beginnings.

This became an unintended lesson as we worked on today's edition of the paper.
