Lagom

Day 1,609, 05:18 Published in Sweden Sweden by nikosextra
Dear friends,

the time has come for me to evolve in the eSwedish politics. A few days ago, I left Folkhemsdemokraterna, my political home for many months. I joined Nya Moderaterna, won the presidential elections as the single candidate (the party is considered inactive) and decided to create a brand new party for Sweden. Let me present you LAGOM.

LAGOM, as most of you know, is the swedish word for "average, yet good enough". There is probably no translation in other languages; perhaps in my mother tongue, Greek, it could be compared to μέτρον ἄριστον, an ancient Greek oriented phrase, that means "Moderation is best".

This is supposed to be a very short introduction of the new party, so here are the basic stands of Lagom. There will be forum discussions to create the complete Stadgar.

POLITICS
Lagom is a libertarian party where majority is to prevail, always with respect to the minorities' will(s). Smaller parties, like us, should preserve their chances for a congressional seat and bigger parties should accept that. In general, we are for a strong democracy with referenda for the most important matters and congressional votes for the rest. We do not a priori reject any collaboration with another party.

ECONOMY & DEVELOPMENT
Lagom is a centre-oriented party. This is to suggest that we promote a healthy economy that rewards its biggest benefactors and equally helps the less fortunate members of the society. We believe in a welfare state with high taxes and more public spending. We support more governmental programmes that help the new players and fewer lotteries; it is not luck that should be rewarded, rather effort.

MILITARY
Lagom supports a national military, but we are not happy with the current TSM model. There should be a wiser use of Regiments and Daily Orders. Private but Sweden-based MUs should be in complete co-ordination with the Ministry of Defence towards eSweden's interests.

FOREIGN POLICY
Lagom does not believe in an alliance by default and neither should eSweden. We are currently satisfied with ONE, however we seek a more important role in decision-making and we demand respect from other members. Furthermore, we stand for a collaborating Scandinavia and generally Northern Europe.

There will be a forum section in the swedish forums soon.
