Kumnaa - My Cunning Plan!
Kumnaa
Ok, so you've seen my introduction and now you want to know what kind of awesome I want to bring to the euk. Lets start with domestic issues;
I think we've all agreed there is far too much fluff in the eUK political system and with that in mind I've decided to reduce the number of ministries to three; Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Defence and Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Domestic Affairs. Lets break it down (at this point you should imagine me break dancing).
Ministry of Finance:
This will now be an umbrella ministry encompassing the current Ministry of Finance, Department for Work, and Ministry of Trade. The MoF will look after all domestic financial matters working the money markets, keeping the government companies running, providing loans where necessary and so forth. The MoF, rather than congress, will be the one to decide taxes as he is the one with the budget and the full understanding of what effect any tax changes will have on it. Congress will just be asked to vote yes in game.
Ministry of Defence and Foreign Affairs:
Over the last couple of months it has become quite clear to me that the current MoD and MoFA are so intertwined that, at the moment, keeping them as seperate ministries is inefficient and possibly dangerous. We need somebody who can monitor the foreign affairs and military operations, making sure neither has a negative impact on the other as has happened often recently.
Ministry of Domestic Affairs:
This will simply there to welcome new citizens and keep people updated on events via articles, as well as moderating the votes of congress on the forums, making sure it runs smoothly. Sorry to make your job sound so small, whoever may get this job if elected.
Now, these ministries will be quite busy so whilst one person will be appointed as 'chief' of each ministery they well actually be run by a team of people to ensure work gets done and gets done well. This should allow many people to get involved in all aspects of government under the guidance of an experienced player.
Constitutional Reform:
Now the house of Lords is a hot topic and for this I will be trying to promote Deilos's proposal (with a couple of amendments), moving a limited number of Lords into congress for joint discussions and simultaneous voting. His proposal can be found here: http://forums.erepublik.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=9145.
Taxes:
Normally its customary for a prospective PM to announce their intentions regarding taxes, however with the current round of tax cuts going through congress (that I'm in favour of) taking almost a month to come into affect theres no way of knowing what state the countries bank balance will be in by the time the elections arrive so I will simply announce that - Taxes might change, they might not, who knows.
I will be back in a few days for my plans for the military and international affairs.

Pretty cunning plan bro.
Most cunning indeed.
cool changes
You could easily have been named Fox McCunning
Aye Kumnaa there's magic in that top hat there is
MoD and MoFA are big jobs as it is. Too much work for one person to keep track of.
"Now, these ministries will be quite busy so whilst one person will be appointed as 'chief' of each ministry they well actually be run by a team of people to ensure work gets done and gets done well."
So we're going to have a chief for the Ministries who obviously cannot do all the work but is in charge of knowing everythign that happens.
Yeah, thats smart. Especially with Military and Foreign Affairs.
fair enough.... im just suspiscious that this change in ministries might go wrong....
Cunning as mr.cunning the fox
>>So we're going to have a chief for the Ministries who obviously cannot do all the work but is in charge of knowing everythign that happens. Yeah, thats smart. Especially with Military and Foreign Affairs.
Next thing you know, you'll wake up one morning, and they'll have someone handling domestic issues as well!
waitasecond
You get my vote over Boblo anyday
I like the sound of Ministry of domestic affairs too
I demand an apprenticeship! *wink wink*
i like your style
Is now too early to ask for an apprenticeship to the MoDaoFA or whatever you're calling it? 😛
This is completely stupid, im sorry but the ministries we have are overloaded with work: Streamlining them into 3 will just increase the amount of mistakes made etc, i really dont like this idea.
@Frank Furglar: the ministries are currently pretty much one person. This setup each ministry is a group of people with a manager
have you ever heard the phrase 'too many cooks spoil the broth'? if you did do this you'd have to get the team numbers exactly right. Too many and you create massive amounts of dispute and red tape, not enough and the ministries will fail.
So, each Ministry has a Minister, a bunch of UnderMinisters, and Apprentices.
Oh wait.
Shit. Isnt that what we do now?
Changing the terminology hardly changes the way they're run.

so what are you complaining about ?
"so what are you complaining about ?"
Snap

I for one welcome our new Kumnaa overlord.
I like your style
Boldrick: "I have a cunning plan..."
@Kumnaa: Because you act like you're reinventing the wheel, when all your doing is saying "Hey I'm new and exciting, check me out." If it's the same ole, then just tell your people it's the same ole with a little different terminology.
If you're going to be PM, your voters at least deserve you to be honest with them.
taking power from congress is dangerous
Is there a need for all this change? I know change is good but why fix something that isn't broken?
He's complaining that your cunning plan isn't very original.
I'm inclined to agree with him in terms of MoD/MoFA. Home affairs and Finance could definitely be put together, but I think Military and Diplomacy are so different they need separate infrastructure.
kumnaa for god and all - but this does sound similar to sara's ministry plan? which got no where except to make MoH defunct.
i for one don't think there's a problem with the ministries and would prefer working with what we've got rather than reinventing our government, create some continuity.
@Dish - it isn't massively different, but it's probably supposed to enforce a little closer relations between the merged ministers...
I mean, for any successful government that should already happen, but to make it more official surely can't do harm.
I believe the MoFA should be separate still. Mainly because I want that job. Frick this is on my org.
Teh User
kumnaa ftw... if he turns out like scrabman im leaving euk!! haha, good luck scr- i mean kumnaa! as scrab suxxxxxx!! good luck kumnaa, i want u as pres 😛
