Jimbojoy for CP! - May 2012

Day 1,624, 14:20 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Jimbojoy

Hello all, it's your lovable foxy friend here - Jimbojoy!

I'm writing this article to let you all know I'm running for Prime Minister this month, and to give you an insight into my plans for the country. We're at a pivotal moment in international affairs, a crossroads domestically and a wasteland in the community. I want to try and bring successful actions to each of these key areas and feel I'm the best candidate to do so!

This manifesto deals with Domestic Affairs and Communications.

I’m a MoHA kind of guy. I’ve been involved in messaging, mentoring, recruiting, informing, helping and entertaining players almost continually since December 2010, and that shows in my Domestic CV:

3 x Minister of Home Affairs
3 x Minister of Recruitment
1 x Podcast Creator
Current Minister of Communications.

I’ve lead PMing Campaigns, written guides for new players, co-ordinated games and entertainment, had a key role in bringing new players to the amazing offsite forum, and help bring them to places where they can get the help they need form party giveaways, MU support and a great community. All of this will help me guide and give direction to the country’s domestic support ministry. I see the following as high priority activities from our MoHA this month:

1. The Baby Boom. Full stop, hands down this is the most important area of Home Affairs this month. I’ll be making use of two primary MoHA’s, and these will have to co-ordinate “Online” PMing to new players. With the removal of mass mailers, we in the Unity Party have hit upon a great way of contacting new players, in this current time of masses of newer players. Essentially it entails getting people to check the Online Players page, and mail them with updates and links to the forum, and generally allows a greater dialogue to be built up from there. It seems the only way to mass PM these days, other than MU’s.

For this, there will be another dedicated minister, who will also help with Articles – as I plan to bring as many activities as are feasible into the game from the off-site forums. The reason this will have to happen is to engage new players, and get them into the community – if they like what they see from us in game, it could be a great example of the fun that is to be found on the forums.

2. Games will return, in the formed of a themed week, which is ever popular. The King’s Return’s will be our focus, and King Woldy will no doubt be rewarding his loyal followers for their efforts to restore his crown. This will feature small prizes for players under level 20– as most of the competition will be in game to engage more players. Prizes for games are really an incentive for new players to come and join the active population, rather than an oldfag rewards, but ofc Woldy should have plenty of gold in the royal treasury.

3. The current Ministry of Finance schemes will return, as they have been wildly successful this month. More than ever, I want the country’s focus to be on supporting the wealth of the hundreds and thousands of new players to allow them a chance to become the Emergy’s, Keers’ and Jamew’s of the future (though not as blameable!). We want to expand the scope of the current food distribution service that is provided by our NHS, and continue funding this worthwhile scheme.

Ministry of Communications:

1. After my own experience this month as a quasi-government spokesperson, there will be a Cabinet Secretary this month, to aid the flow of communication. They will also double as a MoLA, however, due to the current stigma related to the role they will have to be as good as Talon was in starting discussion during what was a good month for public discussion.. I’d like them to publish presidential forum reports in game, minimum once a week.

2. An Minister of Communications will run the MoHA paper and help to publish player guides – these need updating, and so will be the first task. They will liaise with the Cabinet Secretary and work to keep the public informed. I personally will be looking to do as many personal daily reports as possible, it will be great to be able to concentrate on running the country solely on busy days at the office : )

The current plan is to allow staff to be paid, even at minister level, but only done so on public approval of their job, and be subject to criticism, at the mid-term point. Ultimately it will be my job to support and guide them and to take flak – I’m not going to shy away from tough decisions. We want quality ministers and we want to reward them for their hard work – so if you do feel you’ve got what it takes, PM me with an application. I currently have 60% of cabinet lined up and the rest will be coerced by the Moir Effect

We need to try and find a solution to the problems that are being caused through a rift in party politics. I’d love to see relations between UKPP and TUP improve, because it’s really not in the country’s interest to be divided – and I’ll make it a priority to look at what the president can do to promote a more together grouping in our nation. We’re better when we’re bashing our enemies at the same time!

Finally a more light-heart pledge is to attempt a live streaming session with King Woldy, to expand the range and variety of our Podcast – Bob Save the King! Wouldn’t it be great to do PMQ’s live? Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a chance to be a part of the dialogue? Wouldn’t it be great to not have Woldy’s mic fuzzing? Think of the possibilities!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my pitch to you, the Great British and Irishish Public, and that you’ll stick around for my Defence and Foreign Affairs Manifesto that will follow this one!
