Jacen Molare for Congress (March 09)

Day 487, 05:54 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Jacen Molare

Hello People of 'Norn Iron' and other various friends who may be reading this. My name is Jacen Molare, and I wish to run for Congress in March 09.

After a short break from Congress, due in large part to the setting up of the Northern Ireland Senate, which I have been active in, I feel that I can serve the people of Northern Ireland once again in the national legislature, as well as in our own Senate. I am as passionate for national politics as I am for local, and believe that true progress can be made through representative politics.

As a previous two-term congressman for the region, I believe that I can not only bring experience to the job, but also bring to the table the fact that I have stood for this region before.

For me, politics SHOULD be a collaborative venture, and any who have worked with me will be able to attest to the fact that I am willing to work with ALL politicians from the whole range of Parties. I am not here to make empty promises. Some things I have hoped to achieve in the past were accomplished, others were not. I do not count that as failure, rather sometimes in politics we must aim for what is achievable first, and then set our sights higher when we have achieved those goals. One of my major passions in the past was that regional politics would become something that people in Northern Ireland could become involved in. The Senate is still finding its feet, and figuring out some things about what it wants to be, but I believe and hope my involvement in this has helped contributed to forward progress.

So, what are some of the things I stand for?

The People
As a member of TUP, one of the things we have been working on (indeed in part from a suggestion I myself made) was how we as a Party can stand for the new member to the eRepublik. Coming to the New World can be a difficult thing-with many rules, regulations, game mechanics etc. It can be a confusing time, and indeed many who come to the New World simply give up due to the complexities of the game. It is my vision that each and every new person who comes to the New World can have someone there to help guide them and answer questions. And not only offer advice, but also practical guidance. One of my aims has been to always provide assistance to new members, even to the extent of giving food to new members to help them on their way. I feel that for those of us who have established ourselves in the new world, it is our responsibility to make sure those who follow us have every chance of surviving and growing. Indeed, this thought led me to working with others on the creation of NISBO, which has helped several newcomers to the region.

Work and Employment
Another of my goals is to ensure that Congress and other agencies can ensure good working jobs for the Northern Ireland region. Following on from my hopes for new members, one thing I see is many low paying jobs. When a person comes to the new world, it can be difficult to survive on a low income job. Low income jobs prevent new members from purchasing high quality foodstuffs. I believe that companies should be encouraged to employ low experience citizens at a decent wage, and have even argued in Congress in the past for government subsidies to facilitate this. I will continue to support such initiatives if elected by the people.

Northern Ireland Congressional Office and Local Politics
During my first term in Congress I created the Congressional Office. I believe this to be a very important space within the region. For what good is a Congressman if you cannot get in touch and represent your views?! I hope to see the Congressional Office grow and develop, regardless of who sits in it!
Towards the end of my second term saw the establishment of the Norn Iron Senate (see here; http://forums.erepublik.co.uk/viewtopic.p hp?f=117&t=127😎. I believe politics to be under the purview of more than just those who sit in Parliament, and that every citizen has a right to debate and discuss local issues, as well as national ones. I hope that as new members join the region that they too can catch this vision for local politics.

Activity Drives
Of course, one of the vital issues in a region is how active it is. An inactive region will slowly die. One of the things I did in my first term in Congress was to start an eFlag for Norn Iron competition, which now has it's very own flag! I also believe that the Northern Ireland Social Benefits Office can be a great place to encourage social activity within newer members of the region

International
I still stand firmly behind the idea of the European Social Alliance. I am not an Atlantis hater, but in my time here, promises have been made regarding Atlantis and how it can be better. I have waited...and waited, and still, Atlantis seems to be secretive, disorganised and chaotic. I do not wish to take away from the work of some of the great Congressmen and women (such as our own Sara Droz), but I believe we must now be looking to a geopolitical alliance within Europe, which can support us, just as much as we support it. Of course this will take time (Rome was not built in a day), but something such as this requires investigation and work NOW, not at some point in the distant future when Atlantis (potentially) fails!

I hope Atlantis CAN grow strong, and support the efforts of those who work hard to effect change within it's structure, but it would be remiss of Parliament to not be investigating close ties with our European neighbours, and I feel any who instantly dismiss the thought in government are too entrenched in the old ways. We must approach the international stage with fresh ideas and insight.

I wish to thank the people of Northern Ireland for all their support in the past, electing me to two terms in Congress, and the support for the Northern Ireland Senate. My passion is for this wonderful region, and regardless of whether elected or not, I can affirm to you, the people, that I will work tirelessly to make this a better region for all.

Thank you for reading this Manifesto, and I encourage you all to vote, regardless of who it is for. Do not just vote for a Party, but vote for who you think will represent Norn Iron best!
