Join the new world

Greetings my fellow citizens. I wish to write a short article regarding my intention to run for Congress to represent the awesome region of eNI. The first (and probably most important question) you may be asking is, 'why vote for Jacen Molare'? That is indeed a good question, and if you permit me, I hope to give you some reasons why;



-firstly, I am a citizen with LOTS of experience. I have lived in the New World since November 2008, and in that time I have seen a lot happen to our nation. From being stalwart members of Atlantis, to neutrality and right through to PEACE and it's successor Phoenix. I have seen governments rise and fall, from the right wing, all the way to the left. I have seen great Presidents (like Woldy), and some not so great (I wont name!). In all that time, I have also had the chance to serve eNI as Congressman for four terms in Congress, and have been a long-time member of The Unity Party! I am sure you can agree, this is enough time spent in the New World, to have some grasp on the important game and community concepts.

-secondly, I have demonstrated not only a willingness, but a proven ability to serve the region of eNI and it's community. On the forums (which you really should visit if you haven't already), I have served as the Speaker of the eNI Senate on several occasions, and was a founding member of that body, as well as the eNorthern Ireland Social Benefits office, which aims to help the citizens of our region.

-another reason you may choose to vote for me is because I have always defended and stood up for the rights of the average citizen, especially during my last time in Congress, which was a time when government was controlled by the 'Cabal'. In a game such as eRepublik (and especially on the forums), it is often very easy for new players to be swept under the carpet, and be ignored for the whims of the experienced players. I believe that experience does not give one the right to dominate, but rather makes one responsible for the welfare of new citizens, who when they come here, and to the forums, can often be a little overwhelmed. I have always tried my best to help all those I can, and to advocate for them.

The next question you may want to ask, is what does this guy actually stand for? This question is a good one, and let me tell you! Firstly, I am a member of TUP. As a party, the TUP is a Centre-Left Party. However, what colours I am flying during this election only tell part of the story. Like I said, one of the main reasons you may consider voting for me is my dedication to new players. In no clearer way is this shown in my support for regional communities. Now some, especially older more established players, would have you believe that regions are pointless, and they serve no purpose. However, it has been my experience, that regions serve as a great starting point for new citizens, as a place to establish themselves, and to build relationships, as well as confidence. I don't think anyone who knows my record in regard to eNI would argue that I am always eager to follow up on this ideal, by working with others to implement ideas that benefit the whole of the community. As your representative, not only would I stand in Parliament, but I would continue such efforts.



Now, perhaps the question with most national relevance is where do I stand in regards to war. In the past, I have been an open detractor with our alliance with PEACE. I felt PEACE were an imperialistic, expansionist regime, who should be opposed, by words and actions. I felt the invasion of North America was a mistake, and in some way, the tensions of the last few months have born a testament to that thought. However, once we had allied with PEACE, I felt that it was important to try and change either public perception, or the alliance as a whole. It was with no small measure of happiness, that I received the news of our departure from PEACE. Phoenix, so far, has not proven to be as imperialistic as PEACE, and perhaps that is a result of the current hostilities with EDEN. It is my view that the super-alliance paradigm MUST shift, as super-alliance's and their conflicts, cause nothing but constant warfare, which often results in much chaos for a region. However, this would be in an ideal world, and we are not anywhere near that utopia yet (and perhaps never will be). In that light, and especially given the current circumstances the eUK finds herself in, I will support the government in every way possible to resist the current imperialism and aggression of EDEN. At the same time, I will often be cautioning our leaders for measured responses. After all, vengeance begets vengeance, and if we do resist EDEN and push them back, we must learn from the mistakes of the past, and not make decisions based solely on how we can 'get our own back'.

Let me be clear on the issue of war; war can be used in a positive way in this game, as it engenders opportunity for experience, as well as community spirit. It can also result in significant 'baby booms', as has been evidenced by a plethora of different nations. However, the concept of total war, where one nation attempts to completely wipe out another is wrong. It was wrong when we did it to North America, and it is just as wrong now they are attempting to do it to us. My solution (for any interested) is to have smaller regional alliances that can compete with each other. In such a setting, no one alliance could completely overwhelm another, but war could be a constant factor in factional interaction. I do realise that to some this may seem nothing more a pipe dream, but I believe that we need a few more dreamers in the eUK in order to recapture the spirit of adventure, optimism and community that makes this game so fun to play.

To conclude, this January, I invite you to vote for Molare for eNI. In doing so, you can be guaranteed that I will not only work for this region, but will also work with other congressmen to ensure a safe, fair and prosperous society for us all. I will use all my experience, and what talents I have, to defend the rights of all citizens.
