IX: Complete the Trilogy

Day 1,535, 20:26 Published in USA USA by AE Roland

Greetings Programs!

Welcome to The Nerd Machine, My little attempt at a newspaper that will inform and entertain the denizens of this hovel we all affectionately refer to as eRepublik.

I'll give you a moment

My name is AE Roland, lets get started.

Music

"Somewhere Out There" - Danny Pudi and Donald Glover

Belated Congratulations

RL has kept me pretty busy this last week, which is why there has been a delay in my articles. However, though late, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the 8 Federalists that were elected on January 25th. I was particularly glad to see that my fellow "newb" Malarkey83 won a seat. It is good to see youth represented there and I only wish that I was serving alongside him.

A Wild Ajay Appears!

Pizza the Hut II was banned and there was much rejoicing (yay....). While celebrations went on all over the New World, it did not take long for Ajay/Winston/PtH to find his way back in a new and (admittedly) more entertaining form, that of General Cartman Lee.

Civil War is fun when cartoons depict it

After articles comparing his persona to MLK Jr, equating his electoral failures to 9/11, and revealing himself in real life before a Confederate flag, it was really only a matter of time before he donned a uniform that to many Americans stands for racial violence and rebellion. I wish him the best in his inevitable failure.

Game Changes *gasp*

As I would hope most of you know the game underwent some changes in the last week. The biggest change for the average citizen is that land has been done away with and the whole process of working/training has been streamlined in order to cut down on the amount of clicks between you and completion of your tasks.

There were also changes to the economic module, though many with much more intelligence than I have attempted to explain those. For example, here is an informative piece from The Libertine.

For myself these changes have been a frustration from a technical standpoint. I generally do most everything with Google Chrome and the new screen for work/training is often unresponsive. However, when I hop over to Firefox it works quite nicely. Also, I was a tad annoyed to find that we can no longer work with less RMs than are required (unless I have just failed to notice a way). I produce 350 RMs for food a day, yet my Q2 Food Factory requires 400. In the past I could just work anyways, but so far I have not been able to. While this is good motivation to save up and get more RM production, I fail to understand why we weren't allowed to keep that function.

Election Time/Endorsement Time

Here we go America, another month, another election, another chance to go to the digital polls and inflate someone's ego for the coming month. Some have asked me, "are you excited for the election?"

In one wor😛 meh

Don't get me wrong, I like those running. Aeriala is a smexy man-goddess with a lot of great ideas that often go unnoticed. Oblige has brought sexy fun times to the White House for the past two months and has been the leader of the eUS for the entirety of my time here in eRep.

Vanek is...well, ok I don't really know Vanek, but his avatar is Link, which is cool, and he seems to be putting together a solid cabinet.

simple, sturdy, and full of alcohol...just the way I like it

But unlike last month, there is no candidate here that sends a thrill up my leg, none that excites my joie de vivre and makes me really want to vote for them.

My Endorsemnt

I look at Oblige's presidency like a beloved TV show. Thus far it has been entertaining and fun, with hardly a dull moment. However, the longer it runs the greater the chance that it will "jump the shark" and become a shell of the gem we once cherished.

"...for the record, there was an episode of Happy Days where a guy literally jumped over a shark and it was THE BEST one."

So i'll vote for Oblige this one time, and though I am a lowly serf and no one will take heed, I would strongly urge that he step aside after he completes his trilogy and let others step forward.
