It's time for everyone to make a stand.

Day 613, 23:49 Published in Canada Canada by Alexander Keith

You know, I was busy enjoying the crisp cool taste of a Nova Scotian tradition that I managed to smuggle out before my move to Alberta, when I saw came up and joined my father, who was watching a movie. It turned out to be The Majestic, that Jim Carrey flop about the movie theater and the dead guy, but my dad had the remote, and the internet was under the possession of my little brother, so I watched on. Eventually we got to the point where Jim Carrey stands in front of a Congressional hearing to testify that he is not a Communist in a bit of ripped from history plot lines.. He rejects the prepared speech that the committee gave him to say, rejecting the chance to regain his career and promptly calls them all out for what they are doing, manipulating and strong-arming people until they get results that please them. He gives a stirring monologue about how America had gotten to its current point and I couldn't help thinking as I sipped, 'How very appropo to the situation we find ourselves on this very site'. So, if you will indulge me, I know I am no Jim Carrey (unless he's trying to be dramatic, in which case I think its about even), but I think I would like to give my take on what I have seen over my time here.

*takes sip of "water"*

I stand before the populace of the eRepublik site today, as a man who has lost his homeland, a meager ant swept away in a scheme to create a new world order. For a few months I toiled away in my home of Nova Scotia, forging Diamonds for Despojos, fighting in the occasional scrap with Ireland, even attempting a run or two for the chance to represent my homeland in Congress, until that dark day, Day 601 to be precise. That when the French attacked, we were caught completely off guard by this barrage. I thought "How could this be happening? Weren't we trying to arrange peace with the French?" We fought valiantly but the French booted us off our land, and quickly moved on throughout my country. I checked the damage reports, wondering how they managed to get the better of us, and saw that most of the damage was done not by the French at all! But rather by two nations, Hungary and Indonesia.

You see these two nations have been at the top of the rankings since I first became an eWorld citizen, Hungary having swarmed most of Eastern Europe and Indonesia, merely being an extension of the influence of Budapest, having completely obliterated Asia and Australia. These two countries have used their positions and vast supplies of gold, to bully other nations into doing their bidding, and to successfully add to the pawns on their chessboard, France being the one called into duty against my home. They label themselves PEACE, but they have shown no signs of that being their goal. They are abusers of nations, sacrificing others to get their goal. A prime example of their true colors was shown today. The PEACE group had been using the United Kingdom as a safeguard to keep French gains in North America, my homeland changing hands once again into their possession. However, it didn't appear as though the UK fell completely in line, because today Hungary marched right into Scotland, beginning the takeover of Great Britain. Another pawn cast aside to make way for the King and the Queen. France, Italy, the Netherlands, anyone of them could be next, offered up in tribute to the gorging Huns. Well I say enough.

I say enough bullying, enough political coups, I mean, is this really it? Is this how any of us would let the real world play out if a country started doing this? If I recall, the last time something like this was starting to happen, even bitter rivals joined forces to rise up and repel the force. And it can still happen. Even combined, Hungary-Indonesia only make up approx 18% of the eWorld population. If everyone else stood up, and said enough, the Huns reign of terror could be ended within the month. If everyone has the courage to reject their bribes and offers of power, and just said no, we could build this eWorld into a much better, much more stable place. I know the views of one eCanadian aren't going to amount to much in this crazy online Earth, but I know what I consider to be right and wrong, and using other countries to attack a country for being next to a country that they dislike for what they did in another universe, under a banner of uniting the world? That seems pretty messed up to me. And that's really all I have to say.

I'm Alexander Keith, and I will always be a Nova Scotian and an eCanadian.
