Is it time?
Pheenic
As you know, we're at war with Pakistan and the USA, and getting killed. So let me cut to the chase. In all of India's history, we've been officially neutral. Whenever I brought it up that perhaps it would benefit us more to join an alliance, I was turned down. But now, I think the thing that would benefit us most was if we joined an alliance.
What do we have to lose? We've got nothing. Yeah, we've got a few regions, but just a few weeks ago we were sitting high and mighty with a bunch of regions. We've lost Karnataka, something we plotted to capture for over a year. We lost Jarkhand, which we won with hard work against the Iranians. Now, we've got a few regions, and barely at that. So I think it's time to join an alliance.
Pro's
-Help in the war against Pakistan
-Protection from invasions
-Military and Financial Aid
-We won't be a doormat anymore
-Friends
Con's
-We'll make more enemies (Not that we don't have any)
-More hostility with the other alliance(s)
So, as you can see, I could only come up with two Con's. Maybe I'm being impartial, but right now, we've got nothing to lose. Nothing at all. I know that there's the argument that as soon as our allies don't need us, they'll leave us in the dust, but that argument was back when Karnataka was a major world issue. Right now, we've got nothing to be left behind for.
That ends my argument. I could go on and on about why we should join an alliance, but I think I've made my point. If anyone says neutrality is the best option, I think it's more out of pride than thinking about the country. Thing about it. We've got nothing to lose. If we lose a few regions, we'll have allies to fight for it back. We can't win this war alone. I know, there are all those articles about how we'll stand up for ourselves soon, but right now, we're just the doormat of eRepublik.
Allies is how you win. With Allies, we could be sitting in a fortified Karnataka with a Q5 Hospital at the head of a mighty country that has as big a say in what happens in eRepublik as anyone else. You figure it out.
Edit
I'm going to post all my replies to the comments here, so that everyone can see them.
Jovan- Thank you.
Aaron- I think this Mahatma Gandhi quote fits the reply to your answer perfectly.
“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”
We may have made mistakes in the past, but we can fix them. Not being willing to forgive us for what we did in the past is wrong. You shouldn't be angry at a group of people for what their predecessors did.
Braveheart- If they can do it, why can't we? I'll personally lead the negotiations if I have to. But the point is, why can't any of us do it? They're has to be a simple trick to it.
HSharmaPlease do. I think it's never too late in the situation we're in.
SwathiWe would have to discuss it nationally, but I'm thinking you're right.

India wasn't neutral. They tried to scheme both sides and ended up with no friends. That isn't neutrality, it's greed. You had friends in EDEN that liberated your country from Phoenix but someone thought it'd be a good idea to flirt with Phoenix and see what they would off you. Letting Serbia through was dumb. You chose to turn your back on China, Malaysia and Thailand and they haven't forgotten. Serbia and Indonesia want Karnataka and Jharkhand. Even if they don't invade, Pakistan has aligned with Phoenix so prospects are slim getting anything back. EDEN will not be eager to liberate you again so maybe you can get the 5 new countries on your side.
Its too late. Most of the old and influential players have left the game so we don't have good negotiators.
I guess, u r not aware of current situation... , I will be updating it today
Voted 😃 Also agreed, and I don't think even if we are joining an alliance Phoenix isn't a good option, they helped Pakistan.
I have always held the view that being neutral in such a game is (ultimately, and I've been vindicated, in part) impractical, although it's a romantic concept indeed.
This game needs war to survive. ANY peace needs war, if you get my drift.
On a lighter note : We could have an (oxymoron-ically) NAM in eRepublic 😛 Two doves (pardon the liberty) in one stone 😛
