Most of the writers in eSwedish media writes in english, don't deny that. You probably read to many of the infamous "Max, Eddan and Krigarmarkus" articles. 🙂

Well i think all of our official articles are written in either English only or both English and Swedish. Since we now have more Danes in the government, i think its possible that articles will be released in Danish also but to demand that private writers change language is unfortunately impossible.

It is actually a very useful thread in the forum, that would interest many people, but it is in Swedish.
Why Swedish? use English, then everyone can follow it better.

Crazyfrog, the problem is much bigger in the forum. When everyone is commenting threads in Swedish, then it takes forever for us, who are not Swedish to follow it.
If the Swedes to not wish to include everyone and thereby simply change their habits and use English, then I see no reason for conquering other countries.
And I certainly do not see a reason why Denmark should keep being a part of Sweden.

Sure, we are stupid when we don't understand your danish. But you don't have to be able to follow an article in swedish. I guess you are right in what you're saying though.

Right now the forum has a very small area in English and everything else is in Swedish. It should be the other way around. Every former country should have their own little section in their language and everything else should be in English and only English.

The official articles form eSweden is written in English, which is of course a disgrace since there are Swedes, Poles, Spanins and Danes in eSweden.
Honestly, we can't and won't force irl 14-year old Swedes to write their articles in English when they announce that they have started a company or earned their first medal in the game.

Much of the official information on the forums is also in English. We can't write everything in English because if we do - we will also lose irl Swedish players. We would like to have information and forums for as many as possible.

Why not Chinese? Chinese / Mandarin is a much bigger language than English.
With your way of argue one could get the impression that you think that parents in Denmark shouldn't teach their kids Danish since, after all, Danish isn't a very big language and most of the Danes can speak English anyway..

Misho, you seem to think, that eSweden is for Swedes.
But you are quite wrong here.
As eSweden has conquered for instance Denmark, then eSweden is for Swedes and Danes.
And then eSweden conquered other parts of other countries and then eSweden became for them too.
So you say, if we get rid of Swedish, then we will lose some Swedes. Yes. But if you do not get rid of Swedish, then you will lose all Danes and all inhabitans in alle the areas you conquer. And what will you be then? Nothing.

What you will do with your tactic is, make all the conquered people unhappy and alienated. You will make them feel unwelcome and then get them to hate you. And what will happen when people hate you, because they feel unwelcome? They will riot.

What could happen?
All who feels neglected and alienated could go together and ask for example the US for help. Or someone else. Form a huge alliance and go to war with eSweden. Why? To get their country back. Or to be with someone, who makes them feel welcome. Who makes them want to play the game in the future.

Think of others, not just yourself. Thanks.

Sweden didn't conquer Denmark. We´re in an alliance called Homonavia.
Conquered people has no saying in matters of their masters language.
You´re free to write in both english and danish if you wish so.

Sizzla, you are missing the point totally. I know that I am free to do so. But Swedish is too big a part of the community now. It makes other nationalities feel unwelcome.

I really liked this article and i voted and subscribed. The reason why i writes my articles in swedish is becuse i'm not that good at english. So with decent english knowledge i can write small comments like this and people understands. But my articles usually make good points and are sometimes funny and original. I can't write that kind of articles in english.

I do understand danish when it is written, but IRL when somebody speaks to me i have no fucking idea what u all talk about.

The answer is the same.
When one country has other countries territories under them, then circumstances change and this includes what language is to be used.

Bic deWille - the official language of eDenmark has, is and always will be English. I would say the Danish part of the Danish forum is even smaller than the English section of the Swedish.

This really is a key issue, and it once again brings up the conflict why people play this game. Is it the military, the economy or the society? Can you do one without the others? And how can we expect - four years into playing eRep - that we have better chances recruiting new players in Swedish than in English.

Frankly, if Svamppaj wouldn't write because he didn't know English that well, I wouldn't miss it.

Try to get eGermany or eFrance to write in English or why not get eUSA to write in spanish...

I have no desire to get Germans to write in English, as we do not have any German regions.
But if we get German regions, would you expect them to write in Swedish.
Such arrogance coming from a people who say they are the most tolerant in the world.

Today it is expected from everyone in the western world to be able to understand English from a very early age. The globalised world communicates in English. That is how it works in the real world and that is how it should work here.

Well I would say like this, the times I'm writing articles from my own newspaper I don't write them in english cause it takes longer and the non-swedish speakers are to few to make me feel that it's worth it. But with that said I do think the most of our public articles from the government should be in english and swedish.

And I would also say that I would like to give Misho a "+1" for what he said about if everything is in english we will scare swedish people...and last but not least I wouldn't have any problem if danes started to write in danish or so cause google translate is never faraway 😉

I don't speak any swedish word either, so it's nearly impossible to follow the things going on here in sweden.
I can't understand the party programmes of all our parties so it's very hard to participate on the polticial process. I tried to change this fact in my party FHD with an english-speaking thread in the forum but it was in vain.

As long as the official articles and topics on the forum have an english translation, I think it's ok and that Swedish are doing efforts. Of course we cannot force people to write articles and topics in english if they want to do so in swedish. On the forum I'm using a translator, sometimes it doesn't give a very good translation but I can understand the point of most of the topics. Then if I want I answer in english and if someone answer me it's always in english.
Like I said, swedish are doing efforts on this point and it's already better than what you could have had in a lot of ecountries.
There is maybe something that could be improve😛 politics. Parties are rarely posting with an English translation.

I agree that everything official should be in english or have an english translation, but I don't agree with everything you write. What language they are speaking in the regions we conquer in war shouldn't be a concern for us, in my opinion. They have their own forum and country to live in where they can speak their own language, and most players don't want to join the conquering country anyway. We do actually have both German and Lithuanian regions, but most of the inhabitants have moved back to their own country and does not want to be a part of eSweden, regardless of which language we're speaking.

What I wrote above only applies to hostile countries, and not countries like Denmark. The danes and our other foreign players like Tifididi and Evighet are the reason to why I want everything important to have an English version.

Yes. I understood that first line of yours. Didn't read any further. But yeah. I can see why you find it anoying that shit is written in swedish. But there's alot of players who prefer swedish for whatever reason. But there are a few people who write articles in english. Hopefully that number grows now when we're in a union with Denmark.

I too am Danish, but living in eastern Denmark I grew up with 'Hylands hörna' etc on TV. I have no problem with Swedish articles.

And I dont think the Swedes have particular problems with my Danish either.

We could live peacfully and constructively together us Danske Svenske and Norske. As long as each wrote in his own language.

But we are also lihauians, germans and immigrants from everywhere. And THAT needs to be considered.

Pointing to Google Translate is an insult. The translation quality is just too horrible.

So I agree with your article in requesting that all important stuff be in English. Articles from the army already is (and people still misunderstand, sometimes).

Du kanske inte förstår det här, men de flesta svenskar förstår danska och norska utmärkt. Det är däremot oerhört svårt att tala ett språk som liknar svenska på så många sätt, att förstå norska till exempel är inget problem. Men hur går det när man talar norska? Inget vidare alls. Samma sak med danskan.

Så för min del vore danska artiklar inget problem.

If your English isn't great, what's your plan for improving it? It doesn't make sense to write articles in a dividing manner, when we could just stick to English and that way everyone of us would understand. (And we might get rid of some 10-12 year olds...)

I'm Swedish in Erep since some months.

Officiale articles are in english, and some others too.
Not all, yes... but is not a big problem.

Forum is not in english, but a lot of people offer to me to traslate if I need it.

I'm not very active: I'm a double clicker, so my opinion could have no significance, but I moved in Swedish, and a lot of people welcomed me.
Is eSweden only for Swedes? IMHO, no, it doesn't.

Danska funkar utmärkt! Talspråkmässigt kan det vara klurigt, men skrivet är det rätt enkelt. Tveka inte att skriva på ditt hemspråk om du känner för det, du får vara beredd på att du förlorar alla icke-nordisktalande människor i så fall.

I think we should write it in english cause we learn english in a very young age but I dont think that, for example the estonians learn swedish. You should be able to write swedish to but if it is importent it should be in english to.

Im swedish and I like our culture but I dont think that writing english will destroy it.

I can read and understand Swedish, however it takes like 5-10 times as long to read an article in Swedish compared to English..

I try to be very active in Riksdagen, but sometimes it is just too hard to read a long thread only in Swedish..

hum Stente you say something maybe important. Riksdagen is something very official and a place where Danish and Swedish both work for the greatness of Homonavia. Because of that it should be as easy for a Danish as it is for a Swedish to read and participate to the debate.
If my memory is rigth, in the old eUNL(for the young United Netherland=Belgium+Netherland) the language used in the congress was mostly english.

Very good points of view here. I won't start writing my own articles in English, but i'm totally in favor of changing the official language in "Riksdagen" to English, as well as all other official forums.

Some of us tried to introduce English as the official language in the party forums a couple of years ago, but even though nobody really objected to it, very few actually adapted to it either. And most active players were Swedes and kept on writing in Swedish.

Even if I like the idea of using English as the official language, the main reason why Denmark is a part of Sweden now is that there are too few Danes playing to keep a nation alive, and also too few to make an impact on the Swedish society. When the moment comes and the Danish community is strong enough to make a difference in Sweden, it is also strong enough to manage itself as an independent nation.

I speak danish, swedish and english so I'm quite comfortable either way. I CAN READ EVERYTHING!

But I agree that riksdagen and stuff like that could be in english. Anyone running the nation should have at least a decent grasp of english.
