Irishbhoy: A little more love

People of Ireland

If you have not seen part one of my call to you then I would like you to read it now. If you have seen it, please continue.

Why I am running for Taoiseach

I am running because I can see areas that can and need to be improved upon. I am running because I have the knowledge and work ethic required to improve these areas. I am running because I will not accept anything less than the best for this country.

Military

I can tell you all right now that the IDF has not been fighting in the right battles. If we are going to move a large part of our workforce out of the country then we at least need to be sending them to the right places. We have MPPs for a reason, so that we can fight in battles from home. We can still use these battles to organise and improve by testing what we can do, holding timed strikes etc. If I am elected then we will only be deploying to the battles that really matter instead of wandering around the globe aimlessly and with no real sense of purpose. There will be a method to our deployments from now on. It will be to make a difference in the major battles. The single biggest asset that any country can be to it's allies is to be dependable. I will make sure that we are exactly that. Once we can show our allies that we have actually gotten our act together, then we can start calling in some favours. That is when the real fun will start 🙂

As mentioned in the previous article we will have a Tanking Fund for use in battles directly involving Ireland. I intend on us needing it someday. Any Gold generated for this will be used for tanking and any currency for weapons. There are many ways that can be discussed on how to generate funds for this. Bonds are a very effective way to generate currency for this. Any good Minister of Finance past or present can explain how they work if you are interested. I want to test our army to the max, and I want you guys to show me what you can do.

I have an understanding of how the mechanics of war works. I have been present in the planning rooms for some of the biggest battles in erep history. If we as a country are presented with even the slightest window of opportunity to achieve something great in battle, then you can guarantee that I will take it with both hands.

As I already mentioned, V2 needs some serious attention, yesterday. We need to start gathering all the relative information we can from citizens. Timezones, usual log on times, levels of activity, skills and strength migrations are all relative information to V2. Do we have what it takes?

As in RL, we Irish are a disorganised collection of characters. However, when the chips are down we are capable of great things. Let us finally fulfill our destiny and walk among the nations of the e-world as equals.

Community

I place this as the most important part of Irish society. We need to work on this before we lose it forever. In Ireland, without this sense of community nothing else will work. It is the foundation on which every other part of Irish life is built. When I started to play this game the first thing that struck me was the sense of community here. Indeed it was probably the main reason I stuck around. We are losing it. We are becoming just another country. This is not the fault of any minister, it is something that everyone needs to work on. All the battles, all the wars and all the Gold in the e-World would be a poor substitute for this. We can have both if we take care of it. Community is not a ministry, it is not an org or a newspaper. I would like to think it goes a little deeper than that. Player retention here is directly related to our sense of community.

Industry

Our state companies should be running at max production. I do not see the point in having them at all otherwise. I would rather have 2 efficiently managed weapons companies than 5 running as they are now. Once again, game mechanics comes into play. Having less than 10 workers in each company is pointless. I will rectify this problem swiftly if elected. We also have to re-assess whether it is viable to have a state Q5 weapons company at all if it continues as it is. If we are to keep it, it needs to be running properly. Those who work in it should be the ones to receive the benefit from it. This, as most of us know did not happen in the past, so, of course it is understandable that the citizens who did make sacrifices to work there do not want the same thing to happen again. This leaves us with the option of either re-instilling their confidence or shelving it.

Education

Another vital part of player retention. I have noticed some fine articles here recently to educate players on the game. I would like to see this continue. Everyone has some level of knowledge that they can provide to help someone else. I want to have links placed to the best of these educational articles at the end of every official Govt article. In fact, I want to compile a list of links to all the essential areas of the game at the end of these articles. None of this is really that difficult and can have great benefits.

Fun

Yes, I consider fun a vital part of the game. Yes there is a time to be serious when we need to get down to business. But, at the end of the day I love nothing more than to see a tounge-in-cheek article written to make everyone lol in our top 5. A bit of Irish(or wherever you're from) wit and sense of humour serves a great purpose. Too often I have enjoyed one of these articles only to scroll down to the comments and see some people taking it altogether too seriously. Let the comedians be comedians. We need them here. Yes I believe in work-ethic and drive and ambition but this is a game and I want to enjoy playing it.

Foreign Affairs

Yes, there is room for improvements here too. We need to cement our relationships on the world stage. Anyone can do this. It doesnt take a whole lot just to hang in other nations chat-rooms and spread the good name of Ireland. We need to break out from the insular society we have created for ourselves. I could write an article in itself on how we can improve on this ministry but at this point you are probably saying to yourself tl;dr anyway so I think it is time to wrap up.

Things to consider before voting

All I ask before you hit that vote button is that you ask yourself why you are voting the way you are. So far the only argument I have seen as to what Patton has over me is experience. Well, that depends how you define and measure experience. If you count the day we were both e-born then he beats me hands down obviously. But if you count experience as-

- amount of hours playing the game
- knowledge of game mechanics learned and understood
- ability to put that knowledge to good use

then I will make the bold statement that I have every bit as much experience as Patton and probably more so.

I have dragged us half-way onto the world stage as Minister of Foreign Affairs. Allow me to take us the rest of the way by electing me President. Send a message that hard work and ability counts for more in this country than the party you are in.

Ireland. I love you, and I always will.
