Irish-South Korean Agreement

Citizens of Ireland,

Ireland has signed an agreement with South Korea allowing them to airstrike our nation and occupy the regions of Cork and Wexford.



[The Origins]

A few days ago, the South Korean President, Park Ju Chan, contacted our President, mirek12345, about the possibility of a rental deal. Mirek immediately consulted with myself and Seanan about this deal and asked us to assist in drawing up terms of this agreement and deciding on how best to go about this matter.

[A Little About South Korea]

South Korea is a small nation on the Korean peninsula that is frequently occupied by its larger neighbours China and the Republic of China (Taiwan). Due to these occupations, South Korea has not had a congress for approximately two years! In their last Presidential election, there was a voter turnout of 105 citizens making it one of the least populated nations in eRepublik. Due to congress ceasing to exist for two years, immigration has never occurred and emigration is the only option for many of its citizens. Another problem faced by the South Koreans is the fact that without a congress they have no access to the large treasury they have built up over two years. If they had had access to these funds, South Korea would be able to use them to provide weapons to citizens and mercenaries, provide Combat Orders and most importantly feed new citizens and support new players. Over the years, South Korea has had several baby-booms yet the money to keep new players playing is not there to allow for success. So far as a result of this campaign, South Korea is already having a small-scale baby-boom.

[The Agreement]

Following discussions between Mirek, Seanan, An Sluagh and Park Ju Chan, a deal was struck.

1) Ireland gives South Korea permission to airstrike Ireland and occupy the regions Cork and Wexford. This will allow South Korea two resources for production bonuses whilst removing no bonuses from Ireland. Two regions will make it more difficult for enemies of South Korea to disturb the rental agreement.

2) South Korea agrees to pay a fee of 10,000cc per region and return all tax received off the Irish taxpayer. This rent is much lower than common rates due to the Irish support of the South Korean cause to have a congress.

3) No agreement has been made on the length of this contract but the terms are variable and negotiable.

[Our Approach]

Due to the short amount of time at our disposal we needed to act quickly in securing an agreement. Our terms were laid to the South Korean President and the Dáil was informed about the agreement to which the vast majority supported our actions. With Presidential, Ministry of Defense and Dáil approval we felt it was appropriate to proceed with our deal and gave South Korea an official green light to go ahead with the plans. Aurora HQ was also informed of the matters and the South Korean resistance war was set as priority number one. This deal was supported by leaders at home and abroad with great satisfaction.

[The Benefits]

There are several benefits both countries receive from the signing of this deal.

South Korea:
1. South Korea is able to have congress for the first time in two years.
2. South Korea will be able to access their Treasury.
3. South Korea will be able to accept citizenship applications.
4. South Korea companies will avail of bonuses to their production.
5. South Korea will be able to function as a country.

Ireland
1. Ireland will receive an extra 10,000cc per region rented per month.
2. Irish citizens will be able to earn True Patriot medals through regulated fighting.
3. Ireland will receive greater respect on an international level.
