Over a week ago now the CP informed us that eCanada and eIreland were favourable to a peace with eUK, eFrance was unfavourable, but that the prospect of any deal had been lost anyway due to EPC actions.
Then a few days ago, in an article entitled '[CP] With Friends Like This Who Needs Enemies!' the CP revealed the convoluted and confusing story of what amounted to a game of Chinese Whispers regarding a possible eUK peace. I was personaly baffled by the list of messages Acacia listed in this article... However seeing eIreland head into eSweden I had concluded that it was all a mix up designed confuse eUK and to buy eIreland a breathing space to attack eSweden.
Finaly yesterday the truth dawned; it had indeed been a 'mix up' but NOT with intention of fooling eUK but of fooling us. In an article '[The President] Peace Be With You' the eUK President, Talon Karrde, clearly 'spilled the beans' he says (eIreland) "instead of releasing Scotland, to then allow Canada to wipe us, Ireland agreed to keep Scotland, and fight down Resistance Wars that we started in North West England. Why? To ensure Northern Ireland had no borders with Canada". It did cross my mind that this may be 'disinformation' designed to cause problems between ourselves and eIreland. I spoke to our CP on IRC and he said that had confimed that this deal was true and today I see confimation in an article from the eIrish CP. In an article '[CP] Presidential Update - UK Peace, Canada and More' the Irish CP says; "I sent Sweet Drinker, MUFC92 and Irishbhoy1967 to a meeting with the UK, during which a treaty finally was brokered." He does not reveal any details of the deal but we can safely assume that the details given by the eUK President are a good reflection.
So before moving on to discuss responses let us clearly understand what has happened. eIreland made a secret deal with eUK, without informing us, or (as far as we know) eFrance. They did this in order to alow them to attack eSweden, which I believe has also now ended. In doing this they have alowed eUK to have a Congress. Well quite clearly both we and possibly eFrance have a right to expect more honesty from eIreland. We went back into eUK, after chasing ePoland out of eUSA and eFrance, to save eIreland after all. It is of course something that we presumably support for eIreland to attack eSweden and I am sure some of us have helped them in their battles there. However it is disturbing that they chose not to inform us of this secret deal.
Enraged Responses
I was on IRC chatting when I first read the article by the eUK President and at first wondered if it was 'misinformation'. Soon after IRC was full of angry words and, to my mind, hasty reactions.

Sadly our CP seemed swept along with the tide of rage saying "I think we should make an alliance with Sweden and wipe Ireland... I am going to speak to the Swedish CP tonight" Of course first he proposed the NE of eIreland... saying "I am going to enjoy kicking Chewy's (the eIrish CP) ass from here to Kingdom come". Myself and a few others tried to counsel caution arguing that we should speak with eFrance first or we would be guilty of 'doing an eIreland' on our allies.
It is understandable that we should feel aggreived and angry. Even the eIrish CP says "Due to the peace treaty recently brokered with the UK, Canada being frustrated over not being included..." Dam right! We have a right to expect better from an ally who we saved. IF they had told us of their plans we may possibly have worked a plan to prevent eUK having a Congress and alow eIreland to attack eSweden. However NE eIraland and doing deals with eSweden is NOT a wise response and on this issue I am glad to see that Congress also has shown some forethought. After imposing a trade embargo on eBulgaria, who many eCanadians sympathise with, declaring war on an ally when all Eden is in uproar and eFrance threatened by eSerbia is far from wise. Indeed we may even find ourselves losing other allies in Eden.
A Considered Response
It may now seem wise for all three of the allies occupying eUK to sign a peace with eUK. With eFrance now fighting eSerbia they may now feel this wise and with eIreland effectively blocking us from some eUK regions wiping eUK is no longer possible. The matter MUST be discussed with eFrance first though or we would be doing exactly the same as eIreland. As for eIrelan
P.S Exiles Negotiation
A while ago the CP told us that he had conducted some negotiations with the EPC. Quite by chance (I wasn't speaking to anyone) I stumbled upon a log these talks in an article abroad. At the very beginning of the conversation our CP clearly asks that the talks be treated in confidence and receives assurance that they will be. Clearly one of the people with whom Acacia was speaking didn't keep their word or I would not have found a link to the log. I contacted Acacia to make sure that the log was authentic and he confirmed that it was. It is clear from the log that Acacia spoke in good faith and this was not reciprocated. I have a pretty good idea who leaked the log and without naming names it would seem that the purpose of leaking it was to garner support for an ally to attack us. EPC should disown this person who has broken faith not only with our CP but with those of us who sympathise with their cause at home. How can you justify a cause if you break faith in honest negotiations? If EPC do not know who this person is I would be happy to speak with them. I have apologised to Acacia privately if I have said anything against him on this issue and have no hesitation in apologising to all.
It would seem that our CP has been misled twice... Not only by eIreland by a certain exile. It is clear that disagree with him, even on his response to his eIreland, but disagreement and dishonesty are two very different things. Those who fight against dishonesty cannot use it as a weapon; EPC would do well to heed this. Acacia has certainly had a rough time and I am sorry that I have added my dissent to his pile of problems, albeit that I have been honest and open. I may disagree with our current CP but I do not doubt that he acts as he believes best and I hope Congress will NOT impeach him.

😛They have acted stupidly in not telling us of this deal but they acted for a reason we should support; to attack eSweden. This may turn out to be the foolishness of one CP and if so we must not alow this sorry deceit to colour what has up untill now always been a good relations and a strong alliance. To abandon our long term alliance with eIreland is to invite attack from eUK and thus while this episode is regretable we cannot alow it to endanger our future. Our real danger currently lies in an possible eSerbian break through in eFrance and enraged responses against an ally who, upto now, has always been loyal would open us up to a far greater danger and play into eUKs hands. Of course a peace with eUK would also limit damage from EPC action.

ha, martians! Yes, in some ways I could almost expect it these days. What other surprises could there be left except that.
It is not good for Canada because now UK will focus their forces in RW against Canada. As One is back on their feet it is highely likely that soon they will be able to fight succesfully against Canada even in direct battle.
The "One back on its feet" is surely a very important strategic consideration. And as you say, this fact alone puts canadian colonies at risk. In that position, it is not obvious to me that reducing the number of theatres, possible RWs, freeing up troops and treasury is altogether a bad thing. what may be very bad is cultivating hostility toward those who might help. I was intrigued by Sara's idea that the major benefit of the deal might be to lead the way toward peace amongst the UK/france/canada.

The log was leaked because at the time it looked like your CP lied to us and asked us to remain silent to cover his tracks.
Man, we all got to stop jumping to conclusions based on assumptions so quickly around here.
If your first response to a problem with an ally is to declare them as a Natural Enemy, then I'd say perhaps it's time the President re-examines his own foreign policy rather than declaring the incompetency of others, really.
First of all, I don't know how many times eCanadians need to be told this, but we would have had a Congress anyways due to our successful RWs in NI and London before any of this happened. Secondly, why in the world would we "give" Ireland time to attack Sweden, one of our strongest and most loyal allies. And finally, Canada and France can dream on about peace, especially with ONE on the rise again. We signed a peace deal with Ireland because we'll always be located next to them no matter what. France and Canada don't have that same luxury.

Some points here I want to clarify, which makes large parts of your article flat out wrong.
Ireland had never planned to sign Peace with UK during all of this. We had our NE on Sweden. We could not set UK as NE for 7 days after this. UK knew this.
However, we were going to surprise them with a 250 gold Declaration of War, a move that has not been made in eRep in about a year because of the cost(but because of our small size it is nowhere near as expensive as other countries)
There would have been a huge element of surprise in this and that is the element that our plan relied on. We sent a PM to your President which included that. He then released it for all the world to see.
Prominent UKers seen the article and the DoW part would have jumped off the screen to their well trained eyes.
So, AFTER YOUR CP released OUR Military plans for our enemies to see and completely compromised our position, we held another meeting with the UK, and then decided on Peace, because we were not wasting 250 Gold on a plan that YOUR CP gave away to our enemy. We did not tell your CP about this meeting because quite frankly once bitten twice shy and the whole reason we decided to sign Peace was because of his shameful drama whoring in the week previous. Elect a better CP next time please.
It is us who have been let down by the incompetence of Canada in this, not the other way around so look a little closer to home when you are asking for honesty because it is not us that is lacking in it.

You did not come to save Ireland. Canada signed Peace with UK before that and left Ireland to deal with and be wiped by UK alone. Did we release butthurt articles like your CP? No we fought on, and by the time you came back to "save eIreland" we had all our regions + half of UK. You invaded for the Oil bonus so please spare us the hero act.
