Ireland triumphs over the United Kingdom. Poland makes it to North America.

Poland has successfully battered its way through the United Kingdom following a Herculean effort by Ireland that has handed the Irish a crushing military victory that is bound to have serious long term repercussions for the Phoenix Alliance. It is also a catastrophic defeat for the United Kingdom, that proves once again they are only useful for serving as a roadway to North America.

It had seemed for a time that the Polish land bridge was doomed for failure. With The Netherlands swapping into the UK and the British able to gain footholds in the United States, Canada and Ireland, the path had seemed effectively shut. And while both sides were plagued by Bugs, Poland got the worst of it, being unable to swap into Canada due to the Retreat bug, forcing the Poles to advance out of the UK and into Ireland proper. This set the stage for the epic clash as the United Kingdom went on the offensive.

The fate of the land bridge fell to the outcome of The Battle of Southeast Ireland, where an Irish defeat would have allowed the British to capture the Polish forces that were rallying in Cork and Kerry. We all needn’t have worried. The British were defeated in that battle and the Poles were safely surrounded by Irish territory, which in turn permitted an offensive against British held Connecticut and New Jersey. With Britain effectively locked in, and half their country under the occupation of Sweden, Poland and the United States, the Poles had free reign to advance into North America and take possession of the surplus High Resource regions presently held by the American’s.

This is a worst case scenario for Phoenix, as Poland has successfully escaped the confines of Europe, something the Alliance had been desperate to prevent. Indeed, Poland now has a clear shot into Asia should the Bro’s and EDEN decide to allow it. Phoenix could do nothing to prevent such a move. Securing High Resource regions in a friendly country also assures Poland will have a steady supply of Oil, Grain and Stone for V2. The latter being critically important for any country that wants to fight wars, as hospitals now have life spans. You also need more then one in a territory now. In retrospect, Phoenix probably should have done more, and should have relied less on a country that has never once succeeded in a military objective.
