IRC Guide (Rizon Chat and mIRC)

Omar's IRC Guide

In this article I will be showing you how to connect to irc (internet relay chat) by using either the Rizon (irc server) client on their website or the actual mIRC client that you can install.

Rizon Website Method

Step 1
Click here and then fill out the boxes with the nickname you want and the chat room you wish to join.

If you have a registered nick change the Auth box to Identify to Nickserv and put your password in the Password box

Step 2
Register your nick by filling out the following boxes in the bottom right corner.

Hit Yes

Put in your e-mail

Choose a password easy to remember

Check your e-mail for the code. It might be in your junk folder.

NOTICE: You might get this error

If you do just refresh the page do all this again and wait 30 seconds before hitting the Yes button on the first box that pops up.

mIRC Method

Step 1
Install the client here

Step 2
Follow through installation and run mIRC client

Step 3
Once mIRC is running this screen will pop up. Fill out your nickname in the nickname slot. The rest of the boxes are not needed but you can fill them in anyway.

Step 4
Click on the servers button on the left side of the box. Scroll down the list and look for the Rizon folder. Click on the folder and double click on Random Server.

Step 5
Connect by clicking the tiny thunderbolt button on the upper right hand side.

This next bit shows you how to auto identify, auto join channels and make a timestamp on mIRC.

How to Auto Identify

Step 1
From the options menu click Options which should be under Connect. Once there hit the Perform Button.

Step 2
Once there click the enable perform on connect box. Hit the Add button and find Rizon and click OK. After that go to the big blank box and type in: /msg nickserv identify PASSWORD (obviously filling out your password where it says PASSWORD).

To Auto Join Channels

When you first connect a screen will pop up. I personally usually delete all the pre added channels because none of them really have people in it. To add a channel to your auto join list simply click the Add button. Fill out the channel name and enable auto join. Switch the server to Rizon like you did on the auto ident.

To Add a Timestamp

A Timestamp is that small box with numbers before everyones name that tells you what time the person said it.

Go to the options menu again. Under IRC click Messages. Check the box that says Timestamp events. IF you would like it to say just the hour and minute leave it how it is. IF you would like it to say the hour, minute and second then add 😒s to it like i did in the picture.
