INTERVIEW WITH UKRP LEADER MASSACAR
Harry Dalton
NO PLANS TO RUN FOR PRESIDENCY, FINDING THE BALANCE ON IMMIGRATION and POTENTIALLY SOME NEW CANDIDATES FOR CONGRESS
With most of the previous analysis focused on the two main parties, I thought we ought to take a look at the significant others - firstly with the UK Reform Party Leader MASSACAR. Despite not revealing anything over who would be the lead candidates, MASSACAR seemed open to the idea of including new Congress candidates, even if not this time.
(Harry Dalton): Can we get a preview of what the candidate order would be?
(MASSACAR): Spoilers... You'll have to wait and see, but I'll give you a hint, at some point on the list there will be a Wookie.
(HD):How do you plan to support new players better? (An issue raised by many candidates)
(M):We as a party support new player buy letting them be involved if they're interested. A newbie shouldn't just be let into congress only because they asked to be let in. If they've shown an active interest, and have been learning within the society, then i'm more than willing to place 2 or even three if we have a particularly good bunch, on our top 7 list. (Traditionally we get 7-8 congressmen)
(HD):What is your view on what should be done on immigration?
(M):We need to find a balance, which is something we've been working on, and will always have to work on. Typical practice is for congress to check to see if anyone can vouch for the applicant, whether they be in the UK or in a foreign government. Assuming they do have someone to vouch for their character then they are more likely to be let in. As we now possess some very attractive weapon and food bonuses, we're getting a lot of people applying for CS purely based on our bonuses. This is both good and bad. In the past, many UKers have done the same with Poland, using our former ally to boost production to supply UK MU's. Now that the tables have turned I would argue that we should allow the same thing to a degree (so long as the new citizens would not be supplying an enemy countries MU's and they stay away from politics at least for a while).
Another ever present problem is that of PTO threats, and the aforementioned group can stir up some fears for some, not to mention just a throng of accounts asking to get in. We need to be open to letting people in, but not just accept willy-nilly.
(HD): What is your main concern with the UK at the moment?
(M): A resurgence in PTO activities. Not just from foreigners abroad coming in, but from unfriendly parties within. For example, Don Dapper, aka Bruce Wayne, is back to his old tricks of trying to garner power and trick newer players into thinking he's some injured party. He likes to gloss over the BigAnt PTO and theft bit.
(HD): Are you considering a run for President?
(M): No, I'm too busy IRL for that currently

I really like this newspaper, home-grown political analysis is something we don't have enough of here in the eUK.
Keep it up and you're destined for a bit of national fame.
Don't trust massa. he's a Yankee PTOer ..
Yes, I'm a real life dirty Yankee from Michigan.
Yankees from michigan are the worst kind... RL PTOers... always pretending they are not Canadians.
You're not fooling anyone, we recognize the accent.
I love a bit of Massa.
Voted and subbed. It will be interesting to see who else you interview.

Since this article is about me I feel no qualms about using it to advertise.
Massa is one of the nicest guys i've come across in erep
Oooohhhh, ooooohhhh, a Wookie mention o7
Nice article, have a sub 🙂
All Hail the glorious Massacar
Just for the record - some of our most worthy citizens of eUK have been RL US citizens.
One of the wonderful things about the Erepublik World is that you can operate anywhere (within linguistic constraints). Consequently quaint little ol' eUK has always been popular with our colonial brethren.....!
Long may it continue!

Sounds like something someone from michigan would say..
You must be one of massa's multi... and since we've already confirmed that everyone in here is Wayne you must be Wayne too...
The truth comes out! Wayne is actually from michigan and he's a Faux-Canadian-pretending-to-be-American-then-pretending-to-be-UKer-PTOer.
The ploth thickens...
"(Traditionally we get 7-8 congressmen)"
In my day we used to score around twice that number. We need to set our sight high and move back up to the #1 eUK Party slot. This may be easier than you think; politics within eUK are hardly 'demanding' at current levels of tempo
Go on then what's your idea if it's easier than we think?
Part of the issue is partisianship, meaning the fact that members tend to only vote for their parties. As it stands we have an active voting population of 200-300 people on average. We in UKRP have been advertising our party and trying to make it fun and accessible for all, but that doesn't guarantee increases in membership. I'd say we do our best with what we have since we aren't all capable of pulling an Alfagrem and resurrecting a party with a visa card. But as always, the party is open to people and ideas so talk to us, your constituents.
With the current Political model - the electorate *can only* vote for parties and *not* individual members of Congress (as was the the original model). This effectively takes much of the fun out of the monthly Congressional elections - where in the past Congressmen had to work hard (by campaigning) in order to earn their seat.
This makes the role of the PP much more important - as a rogue PP has the power to appoint a load of dodgy Congressional candidates - and the electorate have little power (other than voting for another party) in order to prevent them from automatically being elected to Congress.
All in al l - al little 'sub-optimal'....
You've not answered my question though...
