Indonesian Diplomacy

Day 1,340, 00:23 Published in South Africa South Africa by Miyagiyoda

Once again Indonesia have shown themselves as the pariah nation they are.

A few days ago Indonesia approached the South African government asking to rent the Eastern Cape. South Africa was a little at odds over this for the simple reason that we have a pre-existing contract with Brazil. While Brazil may not be able to occupy the regions as they wish, we are not prepared to be oath-breakers. Our government tacitly approached the Brazilian government to hear their position, since the Spanish occupation of Brazil may turn out to be a protracted affair, and business is business.

To our delight, the Brazilian government gave their blessing to a short-term contract since they saw no need to be spoilers. This is both a pleasant surprise and an indication of how well our relationship has developed these agonising few months.

Delighted, our negotiating team returned to Indonesia to indicate that we seem to have a win-win situation for everyone concerned. While we don't exactly want to rent out regions, the promised payment would contribute more to the coffers than the bonus.

This is when Indonesia let slip the mask and revealed the charlatan we have come to know. No they not only wanted to 'rent' Eastern Cape', but also wanted Western Cape and Northern Cape... since these were duplicate resources for South Africa anyway. Smelling an Indonesia cane-rat the recently fed on a small child, we asked why, since these are also duplicate regions for Indonesia. After many lies, our intelligence in the Indonesia cabinet finally revealed their intent to invade Brazil.

You see, it started as a simple rental of Deer. An source then reveals that our friends in New Zealand suggested that they approach South Africa. And while they were there, why not take revenge on Brazil for leaving BIA.

South Africa then said no. We are prepared to rent a scarce resource out, but not undermine our struggling allies. It not what decent people do.

Indonesia then reverted to their standard negotiating tactic (if negotiation it really was) and proceeded to say that if we do not accept their demands, they will take what they want anyway. You see, as Australia has learnt, Indonesia negotiates by stating a demand and then thumping you into submission until you accede. It is what passes for diplomacy with these renown bullies. We were not surprised, perhaps a little disappointed.

The Indonesia soul clearly does not understand friendship nor good faith. If it does, then the people of Indonesia had better choose better leaders. The current gangsters not only drag the once admiral Indonesian name through the mud, but take the extra effort to stomp any perception of credibility that may remain unblemished.

I feel for our old friends in Spain and Poland to be associated with characters of this ilk. You sleep with rats and you will get bubonic plague. Indonesia's behaviour not only dishonours its people, but its allies too. Ask yourself, what purpose does it serve to enter South America via South Africa when Indonesia can get there via Pacific already? Either the New Zealand agitators need to be unmasked, or the Indonesians need to take a critical look at who advices their foreign policy.

For once I would like to see Indonesia take on someone their own size and not run like little girls the moment it gets tough. Surprise for you Indonesia, its tough in Africa, its why you left originally. Ask anyone, South Africa are better to have as friends than as enemies. This behaviour is not winning you any friends.

Deal like honourable adults or remain skulking in your dank corner of the world.
