Independence is the key to freedom!

As your editor of this news paper, I do find it very important that you will be kept up to date of the most important things going around in our beloved country. So with the upcoming Presidential Elections, there is some thing I would like to get out into this eWorld.
I'm pretty sure Jofroi would make a good CP, he is a very active member of our community who has earned his stripes as a minister and VP in many governments before. He has a lot of experience and this cannot be neglected.
There is just one thing that would make me think twice before giving him my vote. His real plan.
Jofroi his plan is to eventually merge with eNL under the Belgian flag.
I have some doubts about the turnout of this. Therefor I would like you to ask yourself the next question.
Is a merge with eNL a good thing or is it something we will regret in the long run?
But is this possible with the current Polish occupation of eNL, or will we loose our neutral status with that? Can we eBelgians keep a foot in our Politics as we will be outnumbered by the Dutch. Are all these things worth risking for a few more resources?
These are things that you do need to consider before voting within 17 days.
Oh, and last but not least... maybe even a flag in Pink???
Thanks for reading.

Flag is a good idea 😛.
I agree Xironn, this game is strategy and fun well maybe, but i'm not for a merge.
I don't have doubts about jofroi, he is a nice person maybe a bad boy, but with a nice experience.
Pink flag : omg no !
exactly. I've always said I would support jofroi if he ever ran, but I can't support some one who wants to give up eBelgian independence.
sorry
A merge is not something you can achieve in one CP term. So Jofroi would not be able to accomplish that. Anyway, why would we not TRY to do this merge? Seems a big challenge for us, making this game even more interesting.
Oh and for more info about the previous merge: http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/United_Netherlands
no offence, but last 'merge' terribly failed. Players come and go, so does the interests.. even if this union happens, it wont last long
Last merge didn't failed and lasted long 😁.
yep, last merge was very fun and in eRep time lasted very long.
It didn't even last 1 year ( source: http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/United_Netherlands ) and a big chunk of the eBelgian community left
so yea, it did terribly fail
Jofroi i have respect for you or Olv, but when ebelgium was in trouble (time of the separation) you were inactive.
Now you say, it was beautiful? No it wasn't that.
It was nice for you or others, not for all ebelgians !
It's your personal opinion. I have respect for eNL, i want help them.
But i don't want a merge. I can fight for them, i can use weapons to help.
You want put your view and ebelgians would be sheeps?
how much persons do you know here against this merge, how much in eNL. You have friends there. ok... is it a purpose to have the same economy, the same enemies, the same resources... This time is not good.
shadow, must I learn you everything? Every noob know that almost one year in eRep time is a long term so stop trying to find every minus excuse to burn the idea. You are just making yourself ridiculous.
Ely, can I ask you who told you the view of how it was back then because I have the feeling someone gave you false information about how it was. The separation was a big lost back then for a big majority of the eUNL citizens. It was due to eUS and Romanian citizens who toughed it would be fun to "liberate" eBE. And you know very well that I was there to help eBE after the forced split and together we tried to do everything to make this country running again.
So a merge is possible even if difficult. And rebuilding eBE after that was also difficult but we succeed to do it. This is a game and finding new challenges is important. If nothing change in eBE then a lot of people will leave. Oh wait... a lot left already. THIS IS NORMAL and just part of the game as well.
Anyway, merge or not I agree that a majority of the citizens of both countries have to be in favor of it. Otherwise even I would not invest my time in this possible merge.
@Anyway, merge or not I agree that a majority of the citizens of both countries have to be in favor of it. Otherwise even I would not invest my time in this possible merge.
But there not thats the whole point olv so it shouldnt go ahead
*Anyway, merge or not I agree that a majority of the citizens of both countries have to be in favor of it. Otherwise even I would not invest my time in this possible merge.*
Indeed 😁. And by the way Elynea, I began to two click after the separation, during it I was active 😉. And yeah it was painful, which doesn't mean that the UNL itself wasn't nice.
for the argument that the "Dutch" might outnumber the belgians, currently the population of both countries are almost the same, i would even say that activity in general in eBelgium is much higher than in eNL. Simply take a look at the media.
Although i think it will be unlikely that a merger will happen and approved in the near future, not as long as the nationalists on both sides have too much influence in daily politics.
Their claim that the previous merger wasn't succesfull is simply a lie for their self interest and fear they might lose influence in a future great Lowlands.
The claim of certain ppl that the previous merger was a success is simply a lie for their self interest and their nostalgia talking for going back to days that are long gone and look more fun now than they where back then.
Lol, a merge. Always interesting. I think the eUNL was a success and was a failure at the same time. It was interesting, it had some good economics, but there was a lot of unpleasent things too (like nationalists or distrust). When people are bored I would say try a merge, when you in eBE have fun enough now, do not do it. Or just make fun talking about a merge or stay independent.
It is a game, make fun!
^ most ppl aren't bored. And if they are, they can always move to somewhere else.
The merge was a failure.
Shadow that was a failure after the separation i think.
which country started the RW to make the independant ebelgium?
A country from Eden in the past.
But i see in comments : a nostalgia, yes.
Since this merge, a lot of new active players are in eBelgium, it's a fact, we can forget this point. Both countries changed, rules of the game changed political system, economic system.
@olv : we see our real friends in the troubles. I know they helped us a lot when we had troubles with others war (i'm thinking with uk). But you must not forget the complains after the separation.
Shadow, stop being so stubborn. You know nothing about the time of the merge. Maybe you visit it one day but you were never implicated in politics or anything else. Knowing nothing does not give you the right to claim false arguments.
Ely, like I said, a merge is not something I absolutely want but I am certainly not against. My elife will continue like it was if we do not merge. But if we actually dare to take this challenge then I am certain that we will win a lot on the social aspect, as well for politics and economy.
@Shadow, stop being so stubborn. You know nothing about the time of the merge. Maybe you visit it one day but you were never implicated in politics or anything else. Knowing nothing does not give you the right to claim false arguments.
you stop being stubborn cant you see a large amount of players dont want the merge
jamster737, grow up a little or read better what I said. I don't care if we merge or not and I am not making false arguments to fool people like shadow do. And on top of that I said SEVERAL times that if the majority of people is against then I will not loose my time with that merge. Isn't that clear for you?
Hey look, it's Olv raging because a majority of players doesn't want a merge.
