The senate was split on this one issue many wanted them to be raised other's
didn't. I voted no I personally thought that taxes were very reasonable and these new taxes were way to high.
The ammendment passed with the following amount of votes
Income
with 12 saying yes
11 saying no
and 3 abstain
who ever said that one vote never made a difference??
Import
Yes: 11
No:12
and 3 abstain
VAT
Yes:9
No:14
abstain:3
What does this mean for the citezens of Australia
Well this means that more of your money will be taken by the Government. This also will mean that you won't be able to buy as much as usually. also it will mean a raise in prices so companiescan still earn as much as they did without the new Tax. Also this will be in for only 2- 3 months after that time thongs will go back to normal
In this journalist opinion I believe that we were coping fine without the gold stolen. I bet some of you are as angry as I am. but remeber this a democracy the majority rules and the majority was for high income tax. Next election I will stand on a platform that I will stand on time after time unless the situation is critical. I will vote NO to Taxes that are ridiculously high.

I feel like the public have been made the victims here, we didn't steal the money so why are we being punished by these tax hikes.
We should be encouraging people to spend rather than taking there money away from them. Already people are drifting way to foreign lands because of the war games situation,we need these workers and with this decision you are confirming to me that they made the right decision.
Looks like i will be moving to a less tax country :/
Hear! Hear!
The ANP is definitely AGAINST any rise in taxes, and our members have voted accordingly. Unfortunately the left-wing has won out on this vote, but rest assured the ANP will be doing everything we can to remove the taxes in this term and the next.
Higher after tax wages plus more reliable war games definitely makes an overseas working vacation attractive.
