Improving the game part II
Gibbomd
Unlike others who are just trying to complete the missions by saying Mission Part 2 please comment, I will try to be interesting and promote some different ideas! Please see my first article for my thoughts on the battlefield, this second one will deal with a new gameplay idea.
Idea number 2.... let's have babies. Here is how it would work.
When you are old enough (say 1 year old in game) a new set of missions pop up called "erepublik the next generation". Here you can choose to have a baby, which will ultimately grow into a second playable account under your control..... hear me out!
For the first 10 days you need to keep your baby alive, this will require food as his/her health will drop (say 1 per 6 minutes) and they only have 100 health. Yes this means being on once every 10 hours, but looking after a baby is tough! If their health drops to zero then the baby will die (aahh) and you will be ineligible to try again for another year. There would also be a nappy/immunisation/clothing cost of 100cc per day (in total, giving a 1000cc cost to raising the baby)
Once you are through this then you have a choice, do you want your baby to be:
A fighter
A businessman
A politician
A journalist
Depending on your choice another set of missions open up, to give your child permanent advantages. You need to be a positive role model.
For a fighter they would be along the lines of:
For every day in the next 20 days that you exceed 100 kills your child will gain a 1% damage gain (up to 20% for those who struggle with the maths 😉
For every BH 1%
For every CH 5%
For a businessman:
For every employee who works for you in the next 20 days the child would gain a permanent 0.1% (say - the numbers may need refining) gain to work as manager output.
For every 1000 Q7 weapons produced gain 1% (on weapons RM)
For every 1000 Q7 food produced gain 1% (on food RM)
For a politician:
Forgive me I've never got into politics this may require a greater mind than mine to improve this.... how about for every congress medal 5% increase to voter weight (i.e. a vote for you would be worth 1.05)
Or for every day spent in congress?
Bonus for being PP?
For a journalist:
For every vote of an article by you, your child would get a starting vote gain in their articles of 0.05, thereby immediately increasing their likelihood of getting into the top 5s
For every new subscriber 0.1 etc
Once this 20 day period (30 days in total) is up the child becomes an adult and a fully playable second account, with the same missions a new player would have.
Clearly from the job choices above the top 2 would probably be most popular, but I would limit to one child per year and one child per job. Giving a player four children at the end of 5 years.
For ease I would allow family transfers of cash, resources etc (with existing caps of 10g per day) and if as a parent you want to exploit your children by making them work in your factory then that's your prerogative.
Alternatively if you want to super power your kids and give them Q7 weapons and gold to buy EBs then spoil away.
As with my previous article this is not intended to be the definitive answer, but I'd like to play through those early missions again, and would welcome feedback positive or otherwise!

Any comments gratefully received!
Interesting idea, it would change the game a lot, it will make it less dull. o/
tl;dr, it looks interesting though, I will read it later
I love sims but my current rig can't handle it. But I like this idea. Maybe a new company making eNappies?
It would be interesting, but I have to a definite no to your idea of Weighted votes. That would just be unfair within congress (which is supposed to be equally accessible to old or new players) for one congressman's button push be worth more.
Yeah I think I probably shouldn't have suggested politician, don't know enough about it!
Not really sure if I like the suggestions, but here, have a comment anyway.
I'm not really comfortable with the idea of having people control multiple accounts under any circumstances.
Maybe instead when you hit certain milestones (ie. one year), a series of missions pop up which allow you to choose and unlock a perk. And the perks can be related to fighting, business, politics, or journalism (your choice). Perks can be stuff like - for all stuff sold, collect an extra 1% bonus CC on top of your sale price, OR permanent +10,000 damage to every hit, OR bonus 5% production to work as manager...

Good ideas
An interesting idea.

What's voter weight?
I don't think I would like to control another account. 1 is enough for me on this game.
I think I'd quite like to see if I could do better 2nd time round, with what I know now, without resorting to quitting or multi-ing, but clearly each to their own
Harpooooooooon!
Voted.
Novel ideas although the concept of 'children' in-game seems a tad cringeworthy.. but you've put a lot of work into some ideas which might be adapted into features. As others have noted I don't personally rate the idea of another playable account at all, far too much trouble and work, and would rather see some way for benefits from any new concepts always to be reflected into the primary account instead... oh does this mean 'parenting medals' as well? ha ha..'hey I got superdad #3' etc?
Thanks, just trying to generate discussion really, maybe it is better as an alternative to the continuous win a bh get 3 small bombs missions we get!
It is a good idea imo.
That is precisely why it will never happen.
Good try though mate but admins are incompetent
Lol indeed, I think if they opened their suggestion box they would probably find "are you going to safeguard against the millennium bug" it's been so long since they opened it.
Good article but as others have said, I don't think the ideas are really workable.
Still, keep those ideas coming o7
Some of the ideas in here are interesting, but - as others have said - I don't like the concept of attaching these ideas to second account children.
And children that starve to death if you don't feed them enough? Errr ... no.
Yeah, maybe taken away by social services might have been more sensible!

Since my previous response above, I've thought about this a bit more and refined your original idea, so rather than the controversial idea of 'children' and 'playable accounts' what if the new entities created, once one achieved certain levels were virtual 'Apprentices' instead. These would not be playable characters but also not just npc either. Apprentices would have to be trained, educated, and grow in skills (all clickable energy consuming actions for the main account character) but would also then be able to be allocated to work across the main character's businesses. As Apprentice skills grow, these would reflect a share % back onto the main character's attributes and create a new skill of 'Mentoring' to be grown and achieve medals. Apprentice work would, of course end up being taxable.
Growing your first virtual 'Apprentice' towards set skills targets would then allow you to take on another. This effectively might create 'virtual workers' who could (whilst not having individual account status) be part of your overall skill and resource base, but would not be 'tradeable'. This would generate opportunities, actions, benefits and game activity. (I'm sure admin would soon come up with the idea of purchaseable packs or drop items for 'apprentice skills or work boosters etc)
What do you think?
