Implementing a new economy
amsull
In my last article I explained that our economy (and really all eRepublik economies) are failures and don't actually increase anyones wealth. For many people the situation seems out of control. With a simple plan this can be fixed and Canada's citizen wealth will increase.
What should the country do? Well I believe the government should step in with the following process:
1: Encourage all political parties to explain the situation to their members.
2: Have all political parties subsidize their members every week for leaving their job and working for less (provided they work under a wage that the government decides to be more economical, and still work in Canada). Political parties can then go to the government to have the subsidized money replaced.
3: Depending on costs the government may implement a slightly higher tax so that the subsidization does not affect their coiffeurs either.
I know this seems radical and it is different than what every other eRepublik nation is doing; but that is exactly why this will work. It is a fact of economics and business that when you break away from the herd and stand out you will be more profitable and successful.
Here is the link to my last article where I explain that the economy doesn't work using weapons as an example:
http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/canada-s-weak-weapons-economy-2180028/1/20
As a side note if I'm elected to the Congress I will do everything with in my power to make this work.

Our economy is already dominated by communes that are subsidized by the government, except, they're run by our Military Units rather than private Capitalists.
For the private wage and profit sector, though... for your plan I would suggest explaining this to the owners rather than the workers as they are the ones who set the wages.
I agree, but in this game everyone is an owner of at least one company so the political parties should explain it to all of their members.
This article is well written in my opinion. I have just returned from my 10th month strike against eRepublik. I left eRep for their reason to eliminate the economic part of the game. I feared from that moment that the economic aspect would eventually crash. Although, I didn't expect it to crash severely. I'm just inches away of calling quits again to the game. eRepublik has not realized that they are losing member everyday. I say, there should be a strike for the return of the economic aspect of the game.
This would work better if Parties could manage communal Organizations that hold companies which could employ its members.
I have heard that Admins may create group Organizations for Military Units so that they can pool resources more efficiently. I believe that is where (and when) your ideas would be better applied.
Right now parties are too far removed from MU communes and private businesses to have enough impact on the economy.
the economy in eRep is a thing of the past. I can not imagine how hard it is now for a new player to make money and expand their companies with out buying gold with RL money.
At one point in the past I was making almost two gold per day from my companies. At that time I employed around 20 players and gold was worth around $1000. I managed to earn that with a Q4 weapons company being my most advanced.
When Q6 then Q7 were introduced the economic part of the game failed..
I have no idea how we can get back to a place where a new player can make any substantial profit with out spending RL money. But then this is the goal of the Admims. This is their RL life job and their goal above all else is to make real life profits.
I agree that the Admins of the game do this for a job and need RL profits but if you can not be self sufficient in the game then there is a flaw to the game, and it is their job to fix it.
"In my last article I explained that our economy (and really all eRepublik economies) are failures and don't actually increase anyones wealth."
the only ones who are losing money here are guys like you who would produce q3-weapons and sell them for less then 1.00cc instead of selling the used raw for 1.80cc
(see my comments in your last article for more informations)
people like you whine about the bad economy but you burn your money because you can't calculate your investment and profit
investments are not just workers but
(- energy used)
- raws used
- salaries
- taxes (VAT and import if you don't sell on domestic market)
and only if you calculate with this you do it right
if you don't do it YOU LOSE MONEY because you DIDN'T do the math
with articles like your last one saying "So as we see it is unprofitable to hire employees " you kill newbies because then they just won't hire workers.
but WAIT! hey they still lose money?!!
BECAUSE it's even unprofitable to work in the companies as MANAGER!!!!
for producing weapons from q1 to q4 you lose money - and even q5 is not really that much profit if you take taxes into account (you just get 0.56cc or something as profit per q5-unit / with working as manager and no employees!!!)
if you want to make money (or just want to start not losing money) please read the article here (it is about monetary market)
http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/trading-on-the-monetary-market-2171240/1/20
and the articles linked there
it's my paper but you don't have to vote (the articles are some weeks old and not even in the news anyway) or subscribe (i don't give one sh... about subs or votes).
the stuff in these articles is no news and just 'stating the obvious' i thought but i was tired after explaining it like 300times to different people and after seeing stuff like people working in q1 to q4-weapon companies at the moment and so i just wrote the most stuff i know about the economy in 3 articles - i hope it will help you and some other people
i see that you are a newbie. so i am sorry if my comments are maybe a bit harsh... but talking about serious business this is the best you can get - serious answers
eisenmutter2 i tried for 3 days to message every single player on the ecan market selling Q3 and lower weapons. I showed them the math done properly (as you laid out including all actual costs).
I started getting replies like "i dont have enough storage to sell the raw material" and i just got so frustrated i gave up.
I mean essentially this player is saying "i'd rather loose money everyday and bankrupt myself than invest in a single storage building"
this game has become absolute madness.
PS. by "this player" in the above comment i was referring to the responses to my attempt to reach out to players, not the player who wrote this article.

what the truck?! even selling the raw for 0.05cc is more money than producing weapons. i mean i produce like 10000units weapon-raw and 16000 food-raw surplus - and i sell it on the same day for the marketprice (0.06 and 0.03 respectively) and if not i just go 0.01cc lower and it takes like 5minutes max and the stuff is gone.
the funny thing is: with producing weapons they just could sell the raw for 0.04cc no they produce weapons which is 2experience points per working and will get them not jus less money then possible but also more experience so they advance faster to a higher division in the fights and get less or no battleheros
in erepublik i learned that not just some but many people are stup!d. today we have a 2click economy and many guys are just burning their money and profit. so i ask me how much money was wasted back in the old days when you really had to manage company by company with different currencies, taxes and different boni in the countries + influence of worker-health and number on productivity and all this stuff
i really can't believe how some can just waste their money in this "economy" we have now. sometimes even not working at all would be better than the sh.t some guys are doing here. and 2seconds later they go and ask for food and weapons because they can't afford to buy it. the economy is business as usual and we just have not as good times as in the "bot-times" - if anything the economy is even easier than before with real managment
yeah the writer of the article here is a good newbie because he tries to calculate his profit (even when he misses half of the expenses he has and all)
but there are also guys who just produce to produce and they don't even bother to calculate anything
but what is worse than newbies failing are the old players who don't know anything at all
and then they say "yeah!! that stuff you are doing/writing etc - really good!" not to troll but because they do the same garbage.
and they are worse because they are like losing money for 2 or more years straight (depending on how old they are) and some of them even try to give advice to others...
also about the economy in global competition there is an article (in india) whining about bad serbs making all the profit
www.erepublik.com/en/2180578/1/20
as you can read in my article with big differences in boni between different countries it will be really hard to compensate with tax.
if you exclude all importers from other countries and the prices of your weapons here get higher and more profitable because of no competition from imports you will just get this:
example
prices q7weapon canada ~19cc (net 17cc) because no bad imports
canadian guy travels to russia buys q7-weapons for 14cc and sells them in canada for 18cc (net 16)
because canada is his domestic market he will NOT have to pay IMPORT TAX
so even if you make import tax over 10000% you will get "imports"
these will just not be from guy from other countries but from guys with the canadian citizenship
@eisenmutter2 Like I said in my last articles comments, this is not about making the most money (if everyone sells the same thing eventually the value will decrease to unprofitable levels. Day one economics). This is about having some diversification in the market place. Where players can produce products profitably so that we have less collapses in industries. And as I said in my last article drop the tone. People listen more when you are talking to them rather than bi*ching at them.
@amsull Day 1,860, 16:19
with just 2different products and raws there is no more diversification in this economy.
+
you don't make profit: if you buy 30raw to build a q3weapon (30x 0.06cc) and then sell the weapon on market (without the tax of 15% you have in canada you get net ~1,00cc) you have lost 0.80cc
so if you produce with canada boni that is 14weapons per company you lose 11,2cc/company
+ even in high-priced canada you have thousands of unsold q3-weapons
in russia with lowest weapon prices in the eworld(?) we still have 8pages of q3-weapon offers
and with low prices russia is the spot were all rocketbuilder buy their supplies of different weapons for a low price... and still there are many thousands unsold q3-weapons, and still the price of the weapons is lower than the rawprice
