II: See Krems Talk

Day 985, 00:57 Published in USA USA by Little Old Halfling

After plying the Presidential candidatewith some choice bubbly at a late hour, I finally managed to get an interview out of him. It's long, powerful, and completely original (much like the man himself in many different ways). So settle back into your rolling desk chairs and be prepared. Here it is, eLadies and eGents, the exclusive interview with the POTUS candidate himself, St Krems!

Athanaric: First off, let me thank you for the time out of your schedule to do this. The Presidential race is coming up for you, and it comes at an interesting time in this game. I want to start off big: what in your opinion is the biggest issue facing eAmerica today, and how can it be solved?

St Krems: The biggest issue by far is out lack of gold. Our country is broke. My solution to this problem seems fairly obvious: let's simply rent out our surplus regions for gold.

Athanaric: Which regions are the primary focus of such renting, or can you really say at this point in time?

St Krems: I don't have the list in front of me. Obviously, the exact figures and such are more a matter of semantics and our economic minds will be much better able to answer that question.

Athanaric: Understandable. In your words, America is wasting gold. Do you have any simple suggestions for the average American to retain their gold and even perhaps grow it?

St Krems: Yes. Don’t buy a company, we are massively over supplied. Also, don't spend gold on battle field boosters or training bonuses. It's far more efficient to simply buy higher quality weapons sp. As to growing it, the best way is to find something no one else has ever done and offer it for gold. I make my nest egg as a ghost writer. Find a niche, people will pay you for it.

Athanaric: Good advice. Okay. For your Vice President you chose Publius, a man both well-loved and experienced in economics and media. Along with the Economic Council (EC), you have proposed a restructuring away from a gold based economy. Without too much effort into detail, in what ways do you see this shift occurring? What will the new economic base be?

St Krems: The new base will be USD. We will begin to pay our budget in USD. This will have several effects. Like RL government, if we now spend over what we make in taxes we will cause inflation. Our old, gold based system prevented that but now it's gone. It will also make starting battles/ wars more difficult. USD cannot be used to do this, so no matter how strong out economy we have to find a way to convert USD to GOLD. I'm hoping the EC will come up with a solution.

Athanaric: Alright. I'd like to shift the focus onto foreign policy. Your most recent article discussed your foreign policy. Croatia is big point of interest for eAmerica. In your second point, you talked about establishing relations with nations outside the realm of America’s normal allies. South America and Asia were both mentioned. How do you see these new friendships being formed in regions which have strong anti-US sentiments?

St Krems: I think every country in this game has strong anti-US sentiments due to RL. Our best method of overcoming this is communication. The countries who hang out with our citizens a lot, who know us tend not to buy into RL US hate. Why? Because they actually know the people in our country. We need to make contact with the main people in all of these countries. Get them on IRC talking to real Americans. Show them we aren’t so bad. It’s what I did recently to eSA and it worked wonders.

Athanaric: Can you provide us with an idea of some nations that have grabbed your attention whom you wish to gain relations with as President?

St Krems: Yes, certainly: Iran, Pakistan, China, Brazil, eSA, Australia, Indonesia, France, Poland, Croatia, as a brief selection. Tbh, I tend to think of them more as regions, but rest assured, each country on that list has a specific reason as to why it's there.

Athanaric: Could you provide some of those reasons, not necessarily for all of them? Just an idea?

St Krems: Iran - controls one of the three entry points to Asia. eSA - has multiple high titanium regions. China - destined to be a major power in the game at their current rate of growth. Indonesia - controls one of our possible routes through to eSA's titanium. Croatia - one of our stanchness (sp) allies.

Athanaric: You've mentioned that getting a titanium region is important. What will it take, in your mind, to get such a region?

St Krems: To get a titanium region would cost a lot. One option is to rent one from Canada for more than we can afford. The other option is to head to eSA, and either bulldoze our way through indo or brazil. I'm against both routes. I want to attempt a diplomatic solution to the problem. If we could get through them without a full scale war I would be most pleased.

Athanaric: Word. EDEN is in a precarious position, and relations have been touchy at best. You have said that there is opportunity to reestablish relations there. What are some of the main ways this can be accomplished?

St Krems: ACTIONS. We need to go balls out helping Croatia. We need to prove we are no fair weather friend. Under my admin, I promise I'd rather get raped at least three times then see any harm befall one of our allies, especially Croatia.

Athanaric: Excellent! I'd like to shift focus to our military. Just for a second. The eUS military has been shaky, with loses occurring and Russiabots running amok. You have said that attention should be put on coordination. Are there other ways in which our military can be improved?

St Krems: Yes. Currently their structure is not suited to operating in V2. It’s too large, cumbersome and they don't yet have a good system developed for efficiently using strategy on the battle field. However, I'm sure they know this and it is not my place to tell them how to organize themselves. I trust them to do this themselves. The only other thing I can think of is working with them and kongress to make their communes more efficient.

Athanaric: What places in the eWorld do you see as being key focal points in upcoming military conflicts? Where do you see eAmerica’s foreign intervention lie, in other words?

St Krems: Obviously we must support EDEN in Europe. Militarily I imagine a lot of our attention will be there. In the meantime, however, I'd like to focus diplomatically in Asia and South America.

Athanaric: What is the main appeal of this diplomatic focus on Asia and South America for eUS?

St Krems: They are two of our borders, the other two are Europe and Canada. Insuring we control them should be a matter of urgency for the eUS.

Athanaric: Will force come first under your presidency, or are you looking to only use military intervention after diplomacy has failed? Or does it really just depend on the situation?

St Krems: 70% of diplomacy in this game is where you put your damage. The other 30% is reaching out and negotiating deals. This is something I personally will look to do more often than not, should I win. Idk, does that make sense?

Athanaric: Yes, it makes absolute sense actually. Haha. I want to touch back on foreign policy just a little bit. Is there any hope any sort of reconciliation or improved relations with Phoenix nations for eAmerica?

St Krems: With certain PHX nations, yes. That's one of the benefits of not formally being in EDEN. With PHX as a whole, no. I feel EDEN would probably take that the wrong way tbh.

Athanaric: Most likely. Now, how do you see media working to help make America better? What programs or changes should be conducted to help American media not only become better, but work in concert with other areas such as military, economy and the like?

St Krems: I want to dominate our media. Regular articles from me, very regular WHPRs, blurbs from the president, ect., ect.. Under me, the eUS population will not know what to do with all the information they are given.

Athanaric: Player retention is an important area of concern for any nation. How do you see America improving on this?

St Krems: Tbh, I don't. We do everything for new players but play for them. eRep is a shitty game, there's no fixing that. That's not to say I won't try. I intend to re-launch the Dept. Education with a focus on in game media], ie. publishing player guides, where new players are most likes to see them (in game). I want them published regularly. Other than that, I have a new Sec Inter with a lot of fresh ideas. I trust them to run their own show and hopefully some of their stranger plans will boost retention somewhat.

Athanaric: Going off of your previous comment about the Secretary of the Interior, are there any members of your proposed cabinet you can let loose, or will we just have to vote you in to see? Haha.

St Krems: I can announce that I have asked goalie to be my SecDef. I have also asked Devan Kronos to be my Sec State, and Alex Hamilton to be my MoFA, which is a new position I am creating and will be explained in greater depth later.

Athanaric: Alright. Just a few final questions before we finish. How do you see Dioism factoring into the workings of eAmerica and your term? Can such faith be used to help eAmerica in any way?

St Krems: It can. We have already seen Dioism begin to attract some very intelligent international characters to the eUS, such as GLaDOS. People of their caliber grew up in PEACE, a Dioist alliance. PHX has no time for them as it is simply not Dioist. We have already begun to see an influx of talented Dioist individuals into the eUS, mostly joining SEES. Furthermore, my own personal strong faith in Dio has led to good personal relations with various high ranking Pakistanis. If I could use this to help increase our influence in Asia who is to say it's not from the favor of Dio?

Athanaric: Very true. If you could pick one main focus for your campaign and presidency, what would you say it is?

St Krems: The economy. We need more gold.

Athanaric: Is there anything you would like the public to know about you that maybe you haven’t shared before?

St Krems: I am Justice!

Athanaric: Haha. Word. Finally, what words of advice do you have for the average American in these trying times?

St Krems: Save your gold, spend your USD. Get a job, join the military or a militia. I wish someone had given me advice that was that good when I was a newb.

So there you are! Hope you enjoyed. Keep reading for future advancements of coolness! Stay frosty!
