I Won't Be Running For Re-election

After a certain amount of soul searching I have decided that I will not be running for reelection to Congress for the upcoming term.

It isn't that I don't enjoy being in Congress. In fact the truth is exactly the opposite - I enjoy it too much. I enjoy it to the point where it is likely to become a distraction from some outside of the game activities - specifically writing about Television for a small but devoted readership - at a time when things in that area are really going to heat up (starting tomorrow when the American networks debut the first of their new shows (keep an eye on NBC's The Event - it will either be the next Lost or the next Kings). Over the past year I've felt that my intense involvement in the game has hurt me in this area, so basically I'll be two-clicking for the next couple of months until the TV world settles down a bit.

The past month has been an interesting one. The past week has been an intense one and I loved being a part of it all. I'd love to keep participating in this; I've often said that the political aspect of the game is the part that I love the best, more than the military side or the business side. But for the moment I'm going to have to step away.

I call on the voters to do one - no really two things. First of course is to try to find the honest candidates who aren't tied to some secret agenda. The recent presidency gave us a frightening example of what can happen when the voters are deceived as to a candidate's intentions. The second thing the voters can do is to elect candidates who are going to participate in all of the aspects of the business of politics in this game. You shouldn't settle for "two clicker congress people" who merely show up to vote and get the XPs that result but don't participate in the actual business of Congress. The recent presidencies have shown that without a vigilant Congress things can get very bad very quickly. Party leaders, find candidates who are willing to make the commitment. Voters, vote for those people who will work at being in Congress.

To all, good luck.
