I was right + NEW Media Tournament

Day 2,885, 03:27 Published in India Albania by Ruler of The New World

I was right.

When I wrote this I was hoping my premonitions would not come true, yet they did. If you don't know what I am talking about it the gist of it is:

"The nature of media is sensationalist, that is it comes it goes then its over. Considering eIndian history in my experience our Media Industry reflects this sensationalist idea. Now I do NOT want this to happen. Like with fads such as Magic The Gathering, Minecraft or TechDecks (which in my experience also died) I hope most sincerely that our new media boom does not also."

Guess what?

The media is dying.

After logging on a few days ago, I saw this in the article fee😛

Two pages of articles!

I was happy, I mean we had only a few hundred active citizens back then, not the 998 we have at the time of writing. And now I see this:

Only three articles, form two newspapers!

I know I may sound like a broken record, but what I is written below is crucial to eWorld survival as a nation.

I think you know what I am going to say.

Firstly

Media and social relations is the life blood of any nation, especially one that does not exist in the real world. Now I know many of you communicate on our Skype chat and in the MU room and many of you use emails and such to build game relations. But I would like to stress the importance of the newspaper module in eRepublik. Our vey own wiki reads:

"Newspaper articles serve as one of the main forms of communication in eRepublik."

It could not be said better. And not only is it one of the main forms, it is one of the MOST IMPORTANT as well. The newspaper module is responsible for all in game update, social coordination and bonding. Yes, I know it is not private, and it takes longer to write and article than a single line of text...

BUT...

At a social gathering with RL friends what is discussed? The Media is! From the latest song, to favourite books. From international politics to domestic policy and everything in between.

Newspapers, such as the London Times have been in existence since 1785- predating the colonised Australia! And why do they last so long? Because of their importance in the real world. And why should eWorld articles not be important only in the eWorld, but also in the real. Take for example Vijayakrishna's thought provoking article The Fur and the Future. It is not only pertinent to the real world, but also interesting and entertaining.

I love it.

Secondly

I know many of you have issues, jobs, studies, sporting commitments etc. etc. etc. But seriously, 1 article a week from the each newspaper in the population? That'd be seriously awesome. I mean, we're talking 200-600 articles a week!

I know you are thinking: "What's the point? No one is going to read mine anyway!" You are wrong. As I have previously said, your articles don't need to be long or involved nor overly insightful.

Or acedemic for that matter!

They just need to be there. And like anything practice makes perfect. The more you write, the better your articles shall be. The more votes you get, the more readers will read, the more readers the more subscribers which all in all gives you this:

And I don't know about you, but of all the possible trophies to get the Media Mogul is the most awesome. And also possibly the hardest to get. It takes dedication, and time and effort. But it'll pay off, you'll be respected and at the end be the better for it.

Most of you will give up, let your newspapers dwindle and die (like most of you have) and your chance will die with them. It's really a pity, but such is life.

Please don't give up!

Thirdly

I am sure you are all aware of the recent baby-boom. As I have said before, du to the advertising done on Facebook and Twitter being most likely one-off I highly doubt another boom will occur again soon. For this reason writing articles keeps the new players interested and active when they either cannot or do not want to be a part of third party communications.

This is obviously crucial for the future of the nation. Our numbers are needed to boost our military and economic foothold in the real world. And the best way to do so is by having an active, cooperative society. Easily the most effective way of doing so is through in game Media

Finally

In order to promote media activity I am organising personally a new media competition. I will be the judge and anyone who wishes to participate can PM me the link to their article on the topic of:

Times in which a government has failed society.
NOTE: Both "e" and real world situations are acceptable.

The prizes will be taken from my personal funds and will be:

1st Place: 10gld
2nd Place: 1000cc
3rd Place: 750cc
4th Place: 250cc

The competition will run from Day 2886-2900. That gives you all two weeks from tomorrow to complete an article. Please try your best.

The topic is designed to controversial, and is meant to spark debate in both comments PMs and in chats. I am hoping that it will help boost both the media and political modules in the game. Feel free to express any political opinion without any fear, should any slander/bullying occur in regards to any other player YOU WILL BE REPORTED.

NOTE: The comp is only open to eIndian citizens, but feel free to do this in any country you wish.

I wish to emphasise the purpose of this tournament:
-To promote media and political activity
-Increase in game communication
-Give a backdrop for which players to converse upon

Another article will be published tomorrow to clarify. Anyone wishing to donate to assist with prize enlargement or to assist with judging is welcome to (contact me first!).

Good Luck!
