I Hope Your Road Is A Long One

Day 1,787, 10:36 Published in USA USA by Azazel Romanov

I know what you’re expecting. A new player guide. A step-by-step-by-step. Unfortunately plans and lists aren’t usually my style. I don’t want to tell you how to work, how to fight, how speak or how to think because that has been done and rehearsed over and over again. And given the repetition and reapplication of this method, I am unfortunately convinced that it isn’t hitting home. As a new player you are bombarded by eRepublik, older players, and constant articles and guides about how you should act in your first few days, weeks, months. From the perspective of being a new player myself, I know how this feels and it is fresh on the mind. And if you lack an attention span like me, you aren't going to sit down and read these guides that run pages and pages.

So let me lay down some quick common sense that won’t be long, won’t be tedious, and it won’t make you feel like you’re reading an instruction manual on how to put together a model of your eLife. eRepublik is vast, even though the pages you visit daily are few. Thousands of people play this game and thousands of ideas are floating around in messages, forums, articles, and IRC chats (yes, there is a lot of ground to cover). I’ll let other guides tell you where to go, and if you still can’t find them feel free to ask your president, your congressmen, your party leaders, or even me.

The key point is to listen, read, and learn. Hear absolutely everyone out. Propaganda can easily sell you one side, but it isn’t going to give you the whole picture. People will be nice and kind to you, but they could be doing it just to gain influence over you. You may come in with a predisposition or a political ideology, and I want you to immediately throw that out the window. eRepublik is a chance for you to completely reinvent yourself and make people see you as something completely different. You won’t learn everything from a guide, you will learn it from experience.

I can’t sell you success, I can’t sell you answers, and I can’t sell you a pre-packaged life guide. This game is about your choices, your responsibility, and your own view of who you should be. People will be there to help always, but they won’t be there to be you. Work, fight, read, write, talk, complain, troll, and slander. But make it your own, and don’t let someone else’s words be your victory.

Enjoy the game, and may the odds be in your favor.

Again, look forward to hearing from me in upcoming editions of the WHPR.
